Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The only plus are the reception staff who are super lovely. Place is like a prison, utterly stinks of mothballs or something and everything is run down and rubbish. Mould in bathroom, smelly bedsheets, battered furniture it’s just a bit rank. It’s cheap but not good value

It's good for what it is! What do you expect from a travel lodge so it would be unfair to rate this less as it was perfect for what we needed. It's perfectl for travelling g to Scotland it was a halfway point for us. Room was clean and reasonable size!

I've used this Travelodge before, to break a fairly regular journey from NE Scotland to SW England. It's not the most luxurious but the rooms are clean and include the basics. No catering (other than the "breakfast box" but the motorway services are just a minute's walk away. And it's easily accessible travelling north as well as south (unlike some M-way services).

Easy to find after a long drive from Scotland. Very quick check-in. Very clean and quiet even though it was on a busy service station. Last minute booking at a great price, would use again. Handy Greggs on-site for your early morning breakfast roll on coffee.

Stayed one night en route to north of Scotland with our dog. Couldn’t fault the hotel in any way. Clean, comfortable and warm. Nice staff. Only had to pay a small extra amount for our dog. However I wouldn’t actually recommend this particular travel lodge with a dog. It is literally on the motorway with nowhere to walk a dog. A few grassy areas that were not lit up at all so was impossible to negotiate after dark. We literally found ourselves walking the dog in and out of petrol pumps trying to dodge the numerous cars and lorries sweeping past. The hotel also closed the doors at 10 pm. Meaning you had to call night staff for Re-entry. Probably ok if you arrive late and your dog doesn’t need to go after 10 pm. We arrived far too early and didn’t fancy negotiating the motorway again. There isn’t a restaurant attached like many do. We grabbed some bits and bobs from the service station and returned to our room. The morning was a little better as the Costa coffee shop opened early and was dog friendly. To summarize a great stop over for humans but not so much for your four legged friend!

Stayed at the Travelodge on the M6 at Carlisle as it was a little over halfway to my destination. My room was excellent, very clean, bed was extremely comfortable. Had a great rest to set me up for my onward journey.

Great value for money at £27 for a family of four for the night. We arrived with sleeping kids and the check in process was so quick that they didn’t wake up in reception and could be popped straight to bed when we got to the room. Room was clean, but didn’t smell great. Bathroom flooring was separating from the wall as in lots of older travelodge. Great night sleep for all and check-out was easy.

I've had an amazing stay at this hotel over the half term. No issues at all. Very nice staff and the room was very clean overall, the bathroom this time was much cleaner than I thought and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

This is a perfect place to stay. It fits our needs as it’s between Carlisle and Penrith. These are both places we go to often. The people are friendly and the rooms are clean. Stayed here many times and will stay again.
