Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our first visit but will definitely not be our last. We called in for Sunday lunch and weren’t disappointed, it was the tastiest I’ve had in a long time. Not only great food, (Sunday roast taken to another level), the service was fast and friendly.

Chatted to Chris and Sophie in Berwick and got to hear they run the Red Lion. Decided to head over and check it out. Great beer and great food. Excellent hosts and a cracking pub. Lenny our Border enjoyed a fuss and a treat. We will definitely be back if we are in the area.

Massive clean bed, excellent breakfast and lovely friendly staff and owners it’s dog friendly to an extent although I had to eat in the bar on my own for breakfast maybe they could give off an area of the dining room for residents with a dog. I was aware of the restrictions before I went so not unhappy at all.

The Red Lion Team ran the bar for our wedding down the road in College Valley and we've also visited the pub for a drink. Lovely place and great staff. Chris and Sophie couldn't have been more knowledgeble and supportive in helping us plan for our wedding - from helping us choose amounts to sourcing glassware and contacting local breweries, no detail was too small - and the bar was the social hub on the day itself. We (and our families) will be back and would highly recommend to anyone.

Hotel is clean and comfortable. Food is amazing! Everything is freshly made and it tastes incredible! The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay 10/10. I would recommend it and will definitely be coming back in the future.

Quite honestly, one of the best Sunday Dinners I have been served. My Wife , Son and I all opted for the Roast Beef Dinner. Beautifully cooked and good sized portions. Been to the Red Lion several times for Sunday Dinners and always intended on leaving a review but never quite got round to it. We have never been disappointed. £15.95 each, well worth it. Madri at £4.80 and Carling at £4.10 a pint . Large Glass of White wine £ 7.25. Good Food, Good Pint, Reasonable Prices , clean tidy premises andf friendly Staff what's not to like?

We stayed at The Red Lion for 4 nights and had Bed & Breakfast. Our accommodation was in one of the newly refurbished chalets, we were very impressed. The chalet is spacious with plenty of storage for clothes, the bed was comfortable with good quality bed linen. Our en suite had a bath with a very good over bath electric shower. We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon in time for an evening meal. We had roast pork loin which came with plenty of vegetables and was perfectly presented. Each breakfast was very good indeed, whether you chose the Full English or Porridge. No complaints!
