Previously voted as our Farm of the Year, you will learn a lot about farm life here in Norfolk, where you will be staying with our farmers Marcus and Lucy and their boys Henry and William. Your canvas hideaways are situated around the farm and you will be able to see a herd of beef cows grazing the marshes and spot great wildlife. There is a signed walk down to the river Waveney and the Norfolk Broads, a lovely way to ease you into your holiday and introduce you to farm life. The hay play-barn is a paradise where the energetic can play independently whilst not being far away, as well as enjoying the large trampoline and slides and swings outside for all ages. You can stock up on tons of locally produced artisan food at the nearby Wheatacre Farm Pantry. The on-site oven is available for you to fire up for a DIY pizza. If you’re lucky and arrive early in the season, you may be able to help bottle feed the lambs. On a clear night you will want to round off the day looking up at the stars as College farm is situated in one of the UK’s Dark Sky places, before you retire to your comfortable cosy bed. If you’re prepared to jump in the car, the Broads are a perfect place to hire a boat, canoe, or paddle board for all sorts of fun water sports. The coastal towns nearby like Southwold will suit all tastes for beach time, shopping, crabbing and wildlife watching. Going to Horsey Gap to see the seals will also be worth the drive. For fun attractions, Bewilderwood, Africa Alive and Roarr dinosaur park are all not far from the farm, your ideal family holiday base in the Norfolk Broads.

Visited College Farm from the 12th to the 16th and had a near perfect break. After what has been a chaotic year we wanted something where we could unwind but also know the kids (8 and 13) would be well entertained and this was great. Lucy was the perfect host from the off and you just felt nothing would be too much trouble and she even took our youngest with her to tend to the sheep. There’s plenty for the kids to do with a play barn, trampoline and more and the animals are very used to the kids going in and out. We had our own chickens which I’d recommend as the kids loved getting their own eggs. We opted for a tent without a shower but we had our own shower in the block just for the family. There was no pizza night due to COVID but when we did use the oven Marcus came out to help us get it going. The location is good and there’s plenty of information about things to do in the surrounding areas. The best thing i can say is that we would definitely go back, we loved it.
PS Lucy if you read this May says give Gary a cuddle from her

First and foremost, Lucy and Marcus were fantastic hosts and made us feel extremely welcome throughout our stay. Adapting to the restrictions posed by the Covid 19 pandemic meant that a number of things had been put in place, and a lot of hard work done to make sure everyone was safe.

We were allocated a (very clean) shower, the tent was spotless, and the surroundings idyllic. Our girls enjoyed running around the farm and made new friends along the way. We were really sad to go at the end of our 4 night stay.

Thank you so much!

Lucy and family were really friendly, helpful and instantly made you feel very welcome. The safari style tent was superbly comfortable and very spacious. Everything was pristine cleaned and thought of. Our kids had the best time chasing and holding chickens, cuddling the sheep and hardly ever came out of the park or the haybarn. Normally we watch our kids like a hawk but we found ourselves completely comfortable letting them roam. They made lots of friends same age and it made our stay so much easier than any other holiday we have done. Chicken coup is a must if you like eggs. Fresh as they come. Candlelight evenings were just the thing to loose ourselves with a bbq games and fun.
Can't recommend this farm highly enough. We will definitely be returning.

Pros
(1) Lucy was a wonderful and hospitable host who has given great thought into how to arrange the tents and amenities .
(2) Although there are 8 tents, they are on a big plot of land, spaced wide apart.
(3) There is a children’s playground and barn with hay bales for children to play in near the tents.
(4) There is a pen with 3 young sheep for children to pet and cuddle
(5) There is no on site farm shop but there is a huge farm shop nearby
(6) The local pub is good and worth a visit
(7) Nice walk to nearby river with many swans to see

Cons
(1) Takes 3 hours plus to get here from London.
(2) The hot water stopped working midway so had to use the community showers

My family and I have just returned from a wonderful glamping weekend at College Farm. Such fun, great bonding experience and great hosting from Lucy (the most glamorous farmer ever) who is charming, helps to make the experience run smoothly, and is a fine of local knowledge.
The children loved feeding the lambs with bottles and collecting the eggs from the chickens in the morning. Such a great weekend. Will definitely be returning
Thank you to Lucy and Featherdown.

Second visit and will be re booking next year! can’t fault College farm. The Glamping tents are amazing. We had winds and rain and kept warm and cozy inside with log burner on. Farm owners are great, nothing is too much trouble. The kids love the freedom to play in the hay bales, on the trampoline and play with the chickens and sheep. Back to basics with no gadgets and WiFi which I love! Went to see seals at Horsey Gap too, an amazing day out. Also had some college farm lamb - absolutely Devine! Thank you from the Howard family!

This was our 5th Featherdown 'experience' and this farm was the best yet for several reasons. Marcus and Lucy are incredibly friendly and helpful. They gave up several hours of each day showing us around the farm and letting our children groom horses, pet lambs, stroke ducklings etc. etc. It's possible to drive to the tents for unloading before parking and, trust me, this is important. Last year, at another farm, we had to walk along a bumpy track for 15 mins with a wheelbarrow. No fun by the 3rd or 4th trip! The showers are good and there is lots to do locally. Other Featherdown farms could learn a lot from College Farm.

I have just returned from my fourth trip to College Farm, having been on a total of seven Featherdown Farm holidays to date. It's easy to see why Lucy and Marcus won last year's award for the best Featherdown Farm. In short, they do the simple things very, very well.

The facilities are excellent and kept spotlessly clean. The shop is well-stocked and attractive. The farm has plenty of interest and is well located. And, most of all, the welcome from the Daniels family is warm and sincere. Nothing is too much trouble and they are unfailingly cheerful and friendly.

My daughters are aged 21 and 19 and they bring their 18 year old cousin with them. It says a huge amount that, year on year, they enjoy coming back and, for a few days, experiencing life without TV and broadband, and instead enjoy the simpler life (albeit the tents are excellent and the addition of a sofa this year most welcome).

As we drove away my daughters were talking of next year's visit and asking if we could extend to seven days, There is no higher praise!

Camping made comfy with enough mod cons to relax but not too many to take away from the whole camping experienceWe all loved cooking on the wood burning stove, feeding the animals, collecting the eggs, farm walk, pizza oven fun and chatting by candlelight - the perfect antidote to all our busy lifestyles. What makes College Farm is Marcus, Lucy and Henry, host and hostess supreme. Would recommend highly!

Our 4th feather down, and certainly the best for the kids - all the little ones from the 9 tents, and the host's family spent the entire time on the trampoline/hay bales, slides and swings, and chasing each other and leaping all over the hay bales in the barn (every feather down should have one of these). There were chickens to herd, eggs to collect, lambs to play with - all very accessible even for the tiny ones and the kids were able to be left to themselves for the most part as everything was very contained and within eye line of the tents. Everyone commented that on day trips the kids just wanted to get back to their friends at the farm.

The hosts were amazing, and you can see why they get a lot of repeat visits. A nice touch with the gas burners made the morning coffee/tea far less of a mission.

Only suggestion I would make is place a couple of bbq tables by the slide area, so you can watch both play areas (trampoline and hay barn) and kick back and have a drink with the other parents - this definitely seemed like the most social group and hosts we've stayed with (pity the weather didn't make this possible!)

"It doesn't make a lot of difference as they're all in a lovely location. We had tent 1 at the top of the hill, kindly allocated to us by Lucy and Marcus because we had an 8 month old (and two other young children). 1 & 2 are both at the top of the hill (it counts as a hill if you're from Cambridge but is more of a grassy slope in reality!) and closest to the children's play areas, shop, showers etc. They do look out over (the backs of) the other tents so if a more unbroken view is your priority then maybe you could request 5/6/7 further down the hill. The view from our tent was amazing though."
