Not sure really how to address he standard Tripadvisor questions as this is one of three B and B's at which I have stayed over the course of 40 years so my reference points aren't established. Stretching that further is that La Souvigne is for me a bit mythic. I have known of it as well as Ian and Jackie's...

How lovely to read your comments, Jo. We too thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and your wife and like you, regretted that it was so late! We're so glad that you enjoyed the food. We thought long and hard what we should cook you, and in the end decided that the right thing to do was to give you the same...

We stayed for two nights in La Souvigne en route to our final destination. Jacque and Ian Hoare welcomed us with a lovely glass of cold, white wine and could not have been more helpful and friendly. Such an oasis of calm and very pretty too. Good value. Penny and Peter Smales

Many places claim "if you visit once, you will always return". Such a place is La Souvigne. Located in the tiny Correzienne village of Forges (midway between Tulle and Argentat), La Souvigne is operated as a very classy B&B. However, owners Ian and Jacquie Hoare are renowned for their intimate dinners (among friends and specisl guests). Classic French regional "peasant...

We recently stayed with Ian and Jacquie at their charming inn. It was our plan to have dinner with them, which turned out to be one of the most extraordinary dinner experiences we have ever had! Our hosts went out of their way to shop at the local fresh market for ingredients. In addition, the couple hand-picked wild mushrooms in...

We stayed for two nights at La Souvigne at the end of September and had a wonderful stay. Ian and Jacquie were very friendly and accommodating and we instantly felt welcomed. The guesthouse was charming and clean, breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the village location absolutely delightful. The homemade compot we sampled at breakfast was superb, as was the...

With guests as friendly as you two, we had every incentive to be agreeable. We hope very much that you decide to come back again and discover some of the other delights here. Who knows, if the days you come work out right, you could share a meal and try something less fruity.

I have visited Ian and Jacque's lovely chambre d'hotes on a number of occasions, both with my wife and with relatives and friends. The outcome is always the same - a friendly welcome, a lovely room and a fabulous meal. My visits will continue as I cannot recommend it strongly enough. If you are looking for quality and value for...

Andrew, thanks so much for your kind comments. As you say, you've visited us a number of times, both with and without (a boys' trip on Motorbikes) your lovely wife. It's always a pleasure to receive you and hope to see you next year again. Although such generous compliments make us glow with pleasure, the BEST compliment you can pay...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Souvigne. Ian and Jacquie went out of their way to help us (quite literally, by driving an hour to Brive to help us buy 132 duck confit legs for our wedding). They became good friends very quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious meal with them- the picked aubergine was fantastic! This B&B is...

We had 3 nights at La Souvigne, a gite in the small village of Forges. Ian and Jacquie greeted us on arrival with wine and coffee and the hospitality continued on from there. La Souvigne is in an excellent spot as a base for day trips around the Corrèze and the Dodogne regions, and totally relaxing if you just want...

Thank you so much for your very kind remarks. It was a great pleasure to meet such charming guests. We were delighted to read that you enjoyed yourself with us. Even after 19 years, of running a B&B, it's nice to be reassured that we've not become blasé. I hope that I didn't keep Stephen up too late talking music!

La Souvigne is one of those rare places you stumble across where you will find two people who in a very short time will become friends. This was our second visit to Ian and Jacquies home and was every bit as special as the first time we visited a few years ago. We went out of our way this time...

Carole, thanks so much for your very kind words. I'd like to reply to all the kind people who've paid us compliments, but even "thank you so much" gets repetitive and boring after a time. We very much enjoyed seeing you again - truly. If there's one thing that proves to us that people were happy here, it's when they...

Wonderful B&B providing excellent facilities at a good price. Ian cooked a delicious Hungarian meal to mark our shared roots. La Souvigne is in a beautiful part of France and we shall certainly be returning to stay with Jacquie and Ian who made us feel so welcome.
