My friend and I went for a champagne afternoon tea, having seen local advertisements. On walking into the hotel, we were very unimpressed with the state of the carpets which were decidedly dirty, not a good start. After ringing the bell a couple of times, we were invited to wait in the bar area whilst our tea was being completed....

Well this is quite a difficult review to do. To start with from the outside the hotel is lovely, very romantic and I am sure a wonderful setting for a wedding. However through the door and the picture is different, yes I know they are doing building works out the back to add a function room and I am sure...

Absolutely lovely dinner for my daughters birthday. Ellie and Lesley looked after us. Excellent well prepared food, can't fault it. Yes the place needs sympathetically refurbishing but it's not horrendous. For a lovely meal faultless xx definitely going back again

41Club Festive dinner was amazing. You could cut the blade of beef with a fork, the pate superbly presented and the Creme Brulee excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this gem to anyone. It is a charming hotel and the staff helpful and very friendly and efficient.

Good location for access to Nottingham and surrounding area. Hotel is situated in a quiet spot someway off the main road. Warm and inviting with a Christmas feel. Food lovely and staff friendly. Staff were very polite and eager to help.

We gave this hotel another chance in October as we were struggling to find anywhere to stay for one night, we'd heard that some renovations had been done since our first stay and there was a half-price offer. We booked a superior double with breakfast and found ourselves in a shabby annexe room outside of the main hotel in what...

Good breakfast, very friendly staff. Room 2 was a superior, sadly very dirty stained carpet & although initially lovely you can see its tired and in need of care. Bathroom was nothing special, just ok. Very noisy fan. Our friends had room 5, again unclean and dirty carpet. In the bathroom it got worse with toe nails and pubic hair...

We recently stayed one night at Cockliffe House to celebrate a family birthday and have to admit to having a mixed review. We arrived at night and the building looked impressive and welcoming. We were greeted warmly and made to feel immediately welcome. Most of the staff were young, I don't think we saw anyone over twenty, but they were...

Visited at short notice whilst on business in area. Superb welcome on arrival and the friendliness of all staff was a consistent theme throughout. Food - both at dinner and breakfast was outstanding and superb value as part of D B&B package. Bed v comfortable and the rural setting provides a sanctuary away from traffic noise etc. All in all...

We really enjoyed our stay here. This is a lovely quiet location close to Nottingham and surrounding towns. Southwell with its cathedral is just down the road. We enjoyed a walk from the hotel through Burntstump park (ideal for dogs). The food is excellent and very well presented. Very good value at £19.95. I like having wine by the glass as...
