Good breakfast, very friendly staff. Room 2 was a superior, sadly very dirty stained carpet & although initially lovely you can see its tired and in need of care. Bathroom was nothing special, just ok. Very noisy fan. Our friends had room 5, again unclean and dirty carpet. In the bathroom it got worse with toe nails and pubic hair...

We recently stayed one night at Cockliffe House to celebrate a family birthday and have to admit to having a mixed review. We arrived at night and the building looked impressive and welcoming. We were greeted warmly and made to feel immediately welcome. Most of the staff were young, I don't think we saw anyone over twenty, but they were...

Visited at short notice whilst on business in area. Superb welcome on arrival and the friendliness of all staff was a consistent theme throughout. Food - both at dinner and breakfast was outstanding and superb value as part of D B&B package. Bed v comfortable and the rural setting provides a sanctuary away from traffic noise etc. All in all...

We really enjoyed our stay here. This is a lovely quiet location close to Nottingham and surrounding towns. Southwell with its cathedral is just down the road. We enjoyed a walk from the hotel through Burntstump park (ideal for dogs). The food is excellent and very well presented. Very good value at £19.95. I like having wine by the glass as...

We booked the romantic package for a night away without our daughter. On the face of it, it is a beautiful and rustic building with equally lovely converted barns. We stayed in one of the converted barns and whilst the most important things were clean, i.e. the loo and bedsheets, it wasn't as clean as you expect a hotel to...

Perfect for a quiet weekend retreat - although you would need to check whether there was a wedding party booked, as this hotel is very popular for wedding receptions. Food was fabulous. Hotel is in the middle of a renovation programme so the decoration is looking a little tired in places, but the bedroom was warm and comfortable, and the...

We attended our son's wedding, its reception and a bedroom booked as part of the wedding package. The wedding room was superb, and the reception marquee well laid out. However, service of the wedding breakfast was painfully slow and seemed disorganised. The twelve overnight stayers were served breakfast in what had been the wedding room. Surprisingly, we found toast already...

Like stepping back in time, beautiful period house that is being lovingly renovated. We stayed in the Byron room and it was stunning, would love to try all of the rooms out now as each has its own quirky personalisation. If you like modern and neat then stick to a travel lodge or chain hotel but if you like rustic...

We were delighted with our stay here, it really ticked all the boxes. We got a very good rate with Travelzoo, first time we have tried this sight and were not disappointed. The Hotel is in a rural setting, ideal for a relaxing, get away from it all break. Very clean comfortable rooms nicely decorated. We had breakfast but wished...

I had my wedding here in April 2006 and me and the husband went back for our 10th wedding anniversary and we had an amazing time. Our wedding was wonderful and our 10th anniversary was fabulous. Staff are very attentive and they have some lovely quirky furniture in all the unique rooms. Nothing matches and that makes it even better....
