Fields End Water Caravan Park, Fishery and Lodges, is an award winning 5 AA pennant park, we have 78 pitches, 6 unique luxury lodges all with private hot tubs, 4 glamping pods and three excellent fishing lakes, the park is set in a very rural area of the historic fens, where the sky and sunsets are unbeatable, and peace and quiet is guaranteed. We are very dog friendly and the are plenty of on and off site walks.

Everything there for a perfect stay. The park itself is looking lovely. The staff were great! We had Steak and chips on the last evening by the lake which was lovely. Didn’t want to leave but will certainly return. Saw quite few fish caught and the wildlife around was lovely.

Three night break in our motorhome, so good we are back in May. Lovely lakes and people. Shame the cafe was not open but will try next time. The lakes are lovely and plenty of places to walk. Dog friendly with a sectioned off area on site.

Fields end water review We have just returned from a 4 night stay at a fully serviced pitch. As we arrived out of season, the reception was closed and to be honest after a 5-and-a-half-hour journey to see “Closed” at reception was a bit of a shock. I believe it reopens more fully in April. There is a board with a phone number to call when you arrive, which actually worked well. However, the one hour opening time in the morning I think is too limited. We were allocated a pitch which was a serviced astroturf pitch. The lady at reception was not as friendly as most other sites we have visited and any questions were responded to with one-word answers. Unfortunately, our waste pipes and water inlet pipes (which has always been fine at other serviced pitches) would not reach the water tap or the drain. The pitch connection was on the opposite side from where our water and waste points are on the caravan. Having looked around the site and speaking with our fellow caravanners, we were not the only ones having this problem. All EHU’s being shared with the next pitch. Most (including us) simply never hooked up to the water/drains. After a couple of days of not being “hooked-up” I decided to have a look through the shop window to see if they sold what I might need to remedy the situation and they did. Although the lady from reception was around and about and answering my questions about the various items I required, I suggested that as the shop was closed that I may need to return the next morning to purchase the needed items and was simply met with “yes”. There was only one shower/toilet block, I would imagine this would not be enough when the site has more guests. However, it was fine whilst we were there. The block was warm and clean, the shower had hot water but lacked power, but it was okay. The toilet waste point is a hole in ground with a tap and hose next to it. I can imagine this would be difficult to use for older guests. I felt the terms and conditions were very unfavourable including a (very strict and convoluted) non-refundable deposit. There are various administration charges for menial things including a charge if you actually walk through the door to pay the balance, so beware. What was for me, the biggest issue of the whole break though were the signs which were intimidating if not threatening. It seems that expulsion from the site for relatively trivial matters were the norm. This included if you happened to be walking around the waterside area and needed the loo, you would be removed from the site if you were from the CL site, Paddock or main park and went into their facilities. This was my first caravanning booking which was not a CAMC site. I am sure this site would be ok for some people and, indeed we spoke with a few of them who seemed happy. However, if this is the standard that private sites have to offer, I think I will stick to the trusted and friendlier CAMC.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your thoughts. To keep pitch prices down in the off season periods, we don't man the reception for 9 hours a day like we do during the season, but I am glad that our phoning system worked for you. The reception is open between 9 -10.30 am and 12 - 1 pm everyday day in March, these times are well advertised and verbally mentioned to you on arrival. From experience these times are when there is the most demand for our services. You wouldn't have been allocated a grass astro pitch, you would have chosen your pitch type at the time of booking. I am sorry your waste pipe didn't reach, but distance and pipe requirements are pointed out on our very informative and honest website, and that we sell all products required to hook up your water and waste pipe, if you wish to (optional). If you read all our reviews, you won't find one that says you have to queue for a shower or the loo, as we have the correct ratio of shower and loos for the number of pitches we have to gain the 5 star rating that Fields End Water has been awarded. The reason we have an elsan point like it is (waste trap in the floor with a 3 brick high surround) , is so that older guests don't have to lift their heavy waste container up to waist level to empty it. Our T & C's are very clear for everyone to read prior to booking on our website, and we do have a few admin charges to encourage guests to follow our requests, these are explained and apologised for, but follow the T & C's and no admin fees will accrue. There is definitely NOT an admin fee for walking through the door to pay on arrival, as balances are due 5 days prior to arrival. We had to put up 1 sign outside the Waterside facilities, as we had Waterside gusts complaining that, guests from other parts of the park were using the Waterside facilities, this isn't fair as they have paid a considerably higher price than other pitches on the park, so they can pitch up, overlooking the lake and have the use of the new and high quality facilities. We have now managed to fit a code lock to the door, to stop this and have removed the sign. Sorry we wont see you again.
