West Wood Yurts is a cosy campsite on an enchanted estate, offering family glamping accommodation within our Shepherd's Hut or Yurts. Our yurts are nestled into a beautiful, secluded woodland glade of Cut Thorn Farm in a quiet corner of National Trust Gibside. We have just six yurts in our yurt village: 2 large yurts for sleeping up to six people and 4 small yurts for sleeping up to four people. Our Shepherd's Hut offers a romantic couples retreat in a private area of the farm steading. Camping at West Wood Yurts is a truly unique experience. We offer short weekday or weekend breaks or week long breaks...or more! We cater for large group bookings (you can book the whole site for yourselves!), family and friends holidays and couples getaways. There are plenty of things to do throughout the duration of your stay at West Wood Yurts...for a start entry to the Gibside estate is included in the booking price and our yurt camping guests can access National Trust Gibside throughout the duration of their stay, even after the doors close to the public!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an amazing overnight stay in the Oak Pod. So peaceful, lovely hot tub and the facilities in the pod were spotless and comfy. Woke up to a frost this morning - didn't notice as we were so toasty in the pod with great underfloor heating. Enjoyed a walk around Gibside, watched sheep being herded, free range turkeys running around and cows being fed. Can't wait to go back.

Lovely relaxing weekend with family. The pod has everything you need . A double bed and a double pull out sofa. Everything you need in the kitchen area, tv, dining table etc. This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here. The lady who runs it was checking on next door and asked if we needed anything which was nice. If I had to be picky the the fridge could have had a bit better clean . Not something to stop us going again though.

I would definitely recommend a stay here. The pods are really cosy and have everything you need. The views are fab and it’s just a quick walk into Gibside estate. The hosts are so welcoming with good communication. We will be back again soon!

We have just returned from a two night stay in the oak pod. It has everything you need and is in a beautiful setting. Spotlessly clean. A good amount of outdoor space and there is good space between accommodation. The wood fired hot tub was much easier to work than we imagined with everything ready to get it going. The peace and quiet was so relaxing. The access to Gibside makes it even better. It is just down the lane and very interesting. We would definitely return.

Stayed in the Shepherds hut for 3 nights for my partners birthday. Hut very cozy, everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom right next door. All spotless. Hot tub was easy to use following the instructions. Stunning views and enjoyed watching all the animals. Definitely visit again.

Has a lovely stay in the Shepherds Hut! Beautiful views and the cabin itself was really comfortable and cosy. Right next to the gibside so perfect for walking in the lush wilderness and seeing the wildlife! Hot tub only took about an hour to warm up and plenty of wood provided for that and for the fire! We also ordered an Uber eats (lol) so even though you’re in the middle of the beaut countryside you can still get things delivered if needed 😍 will absolutely be booking again

If i could give this 10 for everything i would! This place is AMAZING!! The MOST peaceful, beautiful place. You literally feel like you're so far from anywhere when you're there! We stayed in Elm Pod and.......WOW! The views were SPECTACULAR! The yurt was cosy, warm and was equipped with everything we could possibly need AND we got our very! Own! Hot tub! I literally cannot recommend this site enough, it is STUNNING! I defy anyone to not fall in love with this place! We saw ACTUAL lambs being born (from the comfort of our hottub)! You must visit here, you will NOT regret it!
