Nestled in a scenic location, Portavadie Loch Fyne is lauded for its picturesque views that significantly enhance guest experiences. The hotel's staff garners compliments for their helpfulness, though there have been mentions of occasional disorganization. While the rooms are generally spacious and come with various amenities, guests have called out some wear and instances of cleanliness issues.
The value proposition receives mixed feedback, with guests appreciating some reasonable pricing but pointing out hidden costs. Despite minor maintenance concerns, the overall atmosphere and cleanliness are celebrated.

Detailed Reviews
Great resort and experience at the resort, very clean, rooms beautifully prepared and staff very welcoming and helpful.
This was my second experience at the Portavadie centre - first time at the lodges and the staff kindly accommodated an extra separate room for my friend at good rate as she had an asthmatic condition come on prior to arrival and needed a separate room.
Got to use the upstairs spa centre this time which again was very clean and in such a stunning situation - also very much appreciated being away from the noise of the youngsters downstairs - forgot it was half term) (adults only space upstairs is a godsend).
Was disappointed the out door pools downstairs were not up to temperature though the jacuzzis did open up towards the end of our session. On my last visit it was magical to be out in the beautiful warm water watching the dusk go down over the hills but feeling the rain and wind on your face.
Invigorating massage with Shirley was excellent and food in the main restaurant superb with great service there also.
My only suggestions for improvement are that the restaurant furniture/set up is a little ‘canteen’ like and could be more comfy and intimate but food still so worth it.
The booking call back responses from Portavadie not the best as both the third party spa break company and myself had to try calling a few times to get a response and the availability /price checked and sorted. In the end I booked it personally and to be fair on the Portavadie team they matched the spa break company deal in recognition of the delays in response to booking enquiries. I also understand they had issues due to recent storms with their systems going down.
But overall I’d love to go back again.

+1
We stayed here for 4 nights and returned to the 2 bed townhouse apartment on the marina. As it was during the Covid -19 restrictions, there was only one restaurant to choose from and unfortunately no leisure centre facilities but we were determined to make the most of our stay (we had been made fully aware of what was on offer through their website and speaking to staff before we arrived).
Having stayed before, we knew what to expect and were pleased to find the level of cleanliness inside the apartment was excellent. As usual, tea, coffee, sugar and shortbread plus a pint of milk was left for us as well as all the utensils, crockery etc we would need and despite the rain when we arrived, still had fabulous views of the marina. The apartment is very well set out and has plenty storage space as well as a lovely large dining/seating area upstairs. Beds were extremely comfortable and towels dried quickly on the heated towel rails.
Luckily the weather cleared up and made the views throughout the weekend better as we spent a lot of time in the evening on the balcony watching the comings and goings of all the boats. I would agree with a previous post saying the large windows were not as clean as they could have been but as there had been a storm with torrential rain just before our visit, I don't know how often they are cleaned and whether there was time to do them all! As our doors were open most of the weekend, it didn't inhibit our view! The Marina restaurant was cleaned spotlessly between reservations and all space between tables very acceptable. We did have a few hiccups with our orders (at breakfast and dinner) but these were quickly resolved and so it did not spoil our enjoyment of the delicious food. Menus were reduced and it meant a much smaller offer was available (especially at breakfast) but what we had was very good. They currently offer a take away service for breakfast lunch and dinner also although you need to pick this up in person.
We walked onto the ferry for Tarbert and had a lovely day there (spotted dolphins on our way over) and got to visit shell beach which is gorgeous in the sunshine (but a bit of a scramble over the rocks so although we had fun I wouldn't recommend it for for the infirm or very young etc). Just be aware there is a maximum number of 14 pedestrians onto the ferry at the moment so make sure you get there early to get on the hourly crossing - some people never got on on our return back and had to wait for the next one. On the other days, we went walks around the area, (the Glenan Woods having two routes to choose from) and sailed some toy boats down by the marina.
The staff in reception were lovely and happy to help with any enquiries. I got the feeling some of the staff in the restaurant were quite new and therefore not quite up to speed but I think given the location and the ongoing restrictions, they did well and I'm sure things will improve the longer they are open.
We loved being back and look forward to returning again, hopefully when everything is open.

Everything about Portavadie is great. So much so this is our 5th visit. 3 times to the cottages and twice in the studios. This time we enjoyed a 2 night stay in a spacious studio with small kitchenette and large bathroom with patio doors overlooking Loch Fyne and the arrival and departures of the Tarbert Ferry. Our well behaved poodle was made very welcome and was able to join us in the bar at the Marina Restaurant. The staff have always been very nice and helpful. On this occasion sadly the Marina restaurant was not open for dinner. However we did enjoy a drink in the bar and a couple of meals in the Lodge restaurant which were fine. Great thing is , there is no problem with drinking and driving. Due to health issues we decided not to use the Spa but in the past have thoroughly enjoyed the Infinity Pool.
There were a couple of things which could be better. As said by previous guests the room was very hot upon arrival with large radiator up at it’s highest setting. Some maintenance required in the shower of Studio 2 , reported but no action taken, and if we wanted to be picky a larger TV would be nice.
However all in all another good trip and hopefully we will be back again.

I sent my review to the manager to ask for their opinion before putting it on here, however I got a generic email in return inviting me to do a trip advisor review so here I am.
I love finding nice romantic retreats in Scotland and as this was one of the more expensive ones I expected it to live up to the luxury it promised. I’ve stayed in better hot tub hotels I’ve found on Itison etc so consider that before staying here.
We were given an accessible bedroom which we did not ask for. Boiling hot even with the radiators off. Being accessible it was closest to the exit so we heard the door open and shut often which made our bedroom door rattle. Being on the ground floor people could see in the window.
Check in is meant to be at 3. Arrived at almost 3:30 and the room was not ready yet. Our bedroom had someone else’s hair clip on the floor when we got in there, which, given this COVID19 situation is NOT hygienic. The bed was also not comfy at all.
Dinner service was slow - Connor was the highlight in the Lodge restaurant as he was really apologetic. We ordered the fish and chips but it was so greasy, the grease was dripping off the board they served it on. I ended up having to walk up to pay after waiting for so long for someone to get the bill etc. The staff were all just stood around talking (except Connor as he had left at this point and he was very good).
This slowness in service continued into breakfast in the morning where the juice and coffee is apparently rationed and you need to do everything you can to get the attention of the servers so you can get a beverage.
Finally upon checkout we tried to talk to the receptionist about this but she was on a private call and apparently did not want to terminate this call, but was happy to show us the card machine for our payment.
Positives:
The view is lovely
The hot tub is nice although one was covered up due to the weather.
I love hot tub hotels and spas. I go to them as much as I can. However, I’ve been to cheaper hotels where I’ve had a private hot tub etc. Obviously before I came here, I knew it was shared leisure facilities. However with the price tag and the hotel branding itself as ‘luxury’ I thought that it would be better than the above. I would honestly save your money and do some research for a nicer relaxing retreat. I was shocked when I got a generic reply from the hotel to my email, and I bet I get the same generic reply to this (or if not, I would welcome your comments Portavadie).

Enjoyed a couple of nights away for birthday treat was good fun and great experience at the leisure facilities and outdoor pools.Spa massage was first class.
On the downside I felt breakfast wasn’t very good very standard and lack of choice for the continental side.
We tried several times to make a booking for dinner on both nights and no one seems to answer any calls very poor service so on both occasions we had to go in person to book a table.
Our luxury apartment could do with some tlc marks on floors could be cleaned off grouting needed in our bathroom touch up paint jobs need to be smoothed off and tidied.
Our shower was broken and ok we did get a quick fix but this should of been noticed when it was being cleaned.
The sign post for check in a very difficult to find and when walking from the lodge restaurant to luxury apartment there is no lighting and you need a torch which isn’t handy when you don’t have one.Sign posts
Are very small and hard to read so larger signs would help.
Overall it was a pleasant trip but now I have done it I don’t think there is a luxury feel and several improvements can be made.
Staff were very friendly.

This is our 4th visit to Portavadie and its very hard to fault the view/spa/location etc.
However, when we were here 2 years ago to the same apartment, one of the couples took the room upstairs next to the upstairs lounge. It was very noisy all through the night with a large humming noise and when they complained about it, they were told it was the pump for the cold water system and they were working on it.
2 years later, me and my hubby got the room and we were aware that if anyone used a tap or flushed the toilet, that the pump would fill itself and make that noise. So we all avoided doing that but what we didn't know is that the downstairs flat is connected to our plumbing sytem and set the pump off anytime someone used water inn their flat.
The first night I last heard it at 3:30am but when we asked about it as breakfast the manager was very rude towards us and basically told us that we are the only people that have ever mentioned it. Despite me finding a few mentions in reviews here!
I asked for a spare bed to be made up in the upstairs lounge but the sofa bed has seen better days and I could still hear the pump working/humming all through the night. And as it’s open plan the smell from our cooking wafted up too. So another night with no sleep on my 2 night stay.
A lovely spanish duty manager did come to see us and apologised about his colleague and said they were aware of the issue with the pump
I don't feel it should be rented out as a 3 bedroomed apartment if you can only use 2 of them. We were given 2 bottles of wine but would rather have had a better approach from the first man we spoke to and 2 nights sleep!
It has made us all question whether we would come back again

Two nights spent here for a special birthday celebration and had an excellent stay. Fortunately, we were still able to go before the ongoing health crisis took hold and really hope things can get back to normal asap for places such as this so they can start welcoming guests back, when it is safe to do so. Due to it being a special occasion, had booked a luxury apartment and was not disappointed, in fact was blown away by the standards and facilities within the apartment! Can't comment about any of the other accommodation types available at Portavadie, however, could not fault the apartment we stayed in as it was superb. Spent a lot of time using the leisure facilities, which again were superb, particularly the outdoor infinity pool and jacuzzi! Know this might not sound like the ideal thing to do in Scotland in March, but the fact the water was warmer outside than the pools indoor, tells you everything and it was a lovely experience looking out at the fantastic views from the location! All staff we encountered were very pleasant, particularly those serving food and drink and as mentioned, hopefully things get back to normal asap so these staff's jobs are not affected too much. Had dinner for the two nights we stayed. 1st night was in the Lodge Kitchen and the 2nd night was in the Marina Restaurant. Both locations were great and the food served was exceptional! Overall, a great stay, considering everything going on and would encourage anyone to book at Portavadie and hopefully they, along with similar places are back open soon.

This hotel has beautiful views but the lodges are very basic. For £140 for a twin room (2 very uncomfortable small single beds) I would have expected a little bit more luxury. No bath - rooms were very hostel like. Also the que of cars leading to the ferry port right outside your window with constant door banging and running engines. All in all a very expensive night away that I wont be in a hurry to repeat. Marine restaurant on site (no where else to go as the location is so remote) was also just ok - food no better than a basic restaurant but the prices do not reflect that - disappointing menu.

I organised a trip to Portavadie for my little sister's hen weekend.
16 ladies of various ages, gathering together to relax and have fun!
I don't think the venue could have been much more perfect! (And it's not easy to please 16 women!)
The road to get there is a little challenging, but 100% worth it!
I had email communication with a Mr Baird, in the lead up to the weekend, who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay would go smoothly.
We checked in and had a beautiful cocktail at the bar before unpacking. The 3 bedroom luxury apartments were stunning; much more impressive than the photographs suggest and absolutely spotless. They have everything you could possibly need for a self catering weekend.
Each room has an ensuite, and there's an additional master bathroom, which was great when it came time to get ready.
There was a blu ray player available, which the facilities did not mention, but a fabulous addition!
The leisure experience was super, the only way to improve it would be to add some loungers at the poolside. The outside pools were a joy to experience, even during Storm Ciara!
We also had the spa experience which I would recommend, especially if you're there for a child free weekend. The relaxation room is beautiful with a view to die for!
The breakfast buffet was wonderful and served until 10:30, which is later than other hotels. They had set up a table for all 16 of us, but didn't mind when we all arrived at different times!
We had dinner in the Marina Restaurant which we pre-ordered, which meant we had done the hard part! Everyone was very pleased with their food. I particularly enjoyed the scallop starter!
Every member of staff we encountered was capable, with some really adding an element of charm to our experience.
All in all, we were very pleased with our stay, and I think most of us will find some excuse to get back for a visit at some point!
A big thanks to all the staff for making my sister's weekend perfect!

+1
4 of us came for my birthday.
Positives
Beautiful views
Good food & cocktails (Paradise) highly recommend the lamb!
Friendly/accomodating staff especially Lewis
Lovely birthday dessert made
Negatives
Filthy/ripped carpets
Warm water not working
Light in bathroom not working
Dinner on the first night the staff bought out meals for 3 of my party and the wrong meal for my self i waited 10 minutes for my meal (my meal was taken off the bill)
Sauna not in use in the spa
Given the price that was paid , we had high expectations.
But thanks to Lewis who assisted when issues were raised. We had a card apologizing for the carpet being so filthy and needed replaced. Unsure why the carpet could not have been cleaned prior, there was irn bru stains and what looked like dog pee stains.
Lewis showed us around the luxury apartments prior to our departure and they were lovley, like night and day to the cottages.

I don't know, I seen the camping site, it's only big enough for like two or three tents but I don't know what facilities you get access to.
There is a family run boat trip advertised in and around the resort, but when we googled to book, it was almost an hours drive to get to the marina where it's docked.
