Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I think this is our 5th annual visit. It was great back at the start but it really is beyond compare now. Everything is just the highest quality from the beds, the pillows to the breakfasts. Thank you Jan for making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. Pat Jones and Su Titchner

We had a lovely long weekend here and cannot wait to return. Very nice rooms and I loved the roll top Bath. Delicious breakfast with fresh fruits and homemade jam and the best poached eggs ever. Lots to see and do around the area.

We absolutely loved this B&B and everything about it. I've found it difficult in the past to find hotel or B&B accommodation that will allow dogs, even harder when you have two! like us and also finding a room that has access to a secure garden. I was fortunate enough to find Spire Cottage on one of the booking sites and I immediately went straight to the B&B's website to see the full details and arrange booking. In the pictures on the website the B&B looks fantastic and it's even better in person. It's clean, modern, but still has that lovely cottage feeling. We were in the garden annex room for two nights in the week, the room was a good size, had everything we needed and also a few extras (little touches) that go a long way. Our two dogs had access to the secure private garden which gave us peace of mind and made our whole stay much easier. When we arrived at Spire Cottage we were greeted with a very warm welcome from our host Jan, we were offered refreshments and Jan showed us to our room and talked us through the B&B information. The next morning we went for breakfast at 9am in the main cottage, the breakfast room is nice a light, well decorated, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast that Jan cooked for us was perfect and just what we needed for a busy day ahead and long walk on the beach with the dogs. I would also recommend trying the homemade jams and preserves that Jan makes, all of which are available to try with breakfast or purchase if you want to take some away when you return home. All in all, every aspect of our stay at Spire cottage was great and better than we could have asked for. We will definitely be returning to stay with Jan again this year and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay near Chichester. Thank you Jan.

Everything about our stay with Jan was excellent, from the lovely room to the excellent breakfasts, incuding freshly squeezed orange juice. The 'English' breakfast was superb, and sets you up for the day. Jan is a font of knowledge about what to see and do in the area and her recommendations about where to eat are spot on. Would definitely stay again.

Just booked 6 nights in the Spire Cottage ( just away from main house), and loved the tranquillity and privacy of the location, though you are still near all the attractions such as Chichester, and the Witterings .There was also a large Farm Shop at nearby Runcton where you can stock up with supplies .We were self catering and again everything was there that we needed, with extra touches from Jan. I enjoyed the large patio space and the comfy recliners most. I would highly recommend this gem.

We stayed at this cottage for weekend break away. The location itself is very good with a decent pub across the road. We stayed in the garden annexe which was well presented and clean. Unfortunately I did find the bed quite uncomfortable and I think this is because it is a spring mattress which you do feel. We stayed in one evening after a day out and struggle to get good reception on the TV. First 5 main channels are fine but if you wanted to look at any the others we will struggled to get a good reception. The breakfast was fantastic and we had a full English every morning. The dining area for breakfast is served on one large dining room table which you share with other people staying within the property which we didn't like so much as it took away having a quiet breakfast as other people were talking around you and you feel obliged to join in the conversation but I would have rather just sat there with my partner enjoying a quiet breakfast together. So a bit of a mixed review as the Cottage and its location was very good with an excellent breakfast but I wouldn't stay here again because I didn't get a good night's sleep due to the mattress.

Just returned home after a 3 night stay at Spire Cottage. Booked this B&B after reading the positive reviews and they lived up to expectations. Jan very welcoming and helpful. Room lovely and clean, comfy bed and nice bedlinen, lovely teatray and fresh milk in fridge plus the thoughtful bottles of water & best of all the Toblerone chocolate!😊Clean bathroom & towels. Beautiful view from the bedroom window and we were lucky to have patio doors enabling us to just step out to sit outside. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice setting you up for the day.👍 The cottage is very convenient to visit the surrounding areas, Chichester is a lovely town & a visit to the Cathedral is a must. Arundel Castle is also worth visiting. A walk along the canal towpath into Chichester from Hunston Village is about a mile and a half if you like walking. We would definately recommend a stay at this Cottage.
