The Old Chestnut Tree B & B is exceptional. A beautiful room with the most comfortable bed. Everything is spotlessly clean and stylish. Cecile went out of her way to make our 1 week stay as enjoyable and friendly as possible, we really couldn't have wished for more. Cecile is a fantastic host. We were also free to use the downstairs dining/living room as much as we wanted. We hope to come back again. Thank you Cecile.

It's no coincidence that The Old Chestnut Tree has a consistent stream of five star rating. My wife and I had a five star experience that we cherish as one of the most unassuming and relaxing out-of-town stays we've ever had. From the impeccably decorated (and clean) rooms and halls and bathrooms, to the homely breakfast, to the cordiality and open arms of the hosts, we left impressed and refreshed.

The town itself is wonderful, and a bicycle is very useful if you hope to explore the surrounding wooded areas and lakes region.

Cecile gladly pointed us to a local restaurant which was in itself such a lovely dining experience that it called for a repeat visit on the second night.

We look forward to returning to Silkeborg!

Several times a year I travel to Silkeborg, DK to visit my 94 year old Mormor (grandmother). As a child, I found Silkeborg / Sejs magical with the panoramic views, water, and charming touches. I have now found the ONLY place in Silkeborg that matches the town's esthetic appeal and warm welcome. This bed and breakfast run by Celine and Peder boasts a well appointed and comfortable room, modern bath, fantastic morning breakfast (worth it), and a warm fire at night to envelope you in the true spirit of Denmark. Nestled within 5 min of town's center square and 2 blocks from the water (kayaks, boats, mini golf), you are welcomed into their beautiful and clean home with comfort, warmth, friendliness, and charm. I can't imagine ever staying anywhere else when I come to visit my favorite place of youth and joy ... Silkeborg. In a way, I have found my home away from home. Thank you Celine and Peder.

Very nice and cosy room in central Silkeborg, in walking distance from shopping area and restaurants. Comfortable beds and delicate bathroom, clean and tidy, this B&B made our stay even better. Delicious breakfast in private diningroom. Friendly and helpful hosts. We will definitely book this place if/when in Silkeborg again.

Our car had broken down prior to our visit so we were late arriving after a rather stressful day. Cecile however immediately put the smiles back on our faces when she opened the door to her lovely bed and breakfast. What a beautiful stylish bedroom and shower room. Everything was immaculate. In the morning we ate breakfast outside and had a chat with Cecile. She made us laugh and the worries of the day before just disappeared. Her little dog made us smile too. A very comfortable stay and we’d love to return some day.

Thank you so much, Cecile for our best stay in Denmark summer of 2014! A more friendly, helpful and charming hostess will be hard to find.
The rooms and bathroom were so delicate, stylish and lovely that we just wanted to stay in. There were complementary bathroom articles and coffee, sodas and chocolates were included in the price (!) The beds were great, and our son (15) loved having his own room. Breakfast was amazing! We ate in their picturesque garden and Cecile gave us lots of tips for what to see and were to visit in the area. I would recommend this home away from home to anyone and everyone!
We will be visiting Silkeborg again, not only for the lovely area but most of all to visit The Old Chessnut Tree again.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at the Old Chesnut Tree B&B. We based ourselves at Silkeborg and travelled each day to Herning to watch the European Dressage champrionships (about a 30 minute drive).

As regular hotel travellers we were not sure of what to expect from a B&B but we were delighted with our room (spotlessly clean and very modern), a spacious bathroom with a great shower, and the overall experience (Cecile is a great host!). The room included a fridge with water/soft drinks included, a Nexpresso coffee machine and TV with a number of cable channels. There was also a parking space as we had a rental car. It worked really well. We also had breakfast one moring (5 DKK each) and it was well worth it.

We ate in Silkebord each evening and it was a pleasant 5-10 minute walk to the various restaurants. We would recommend Safran for an evening meal as it was great food for a very reasonable price.

All in all a really good stay!

This is the second time I have stayed at the lovely The Old Chestnut Tree in Silkeborg and I loved it as much as last time.

A very warm welcome from Cecile - it was like going to see friends. The room is very comfortable and nicely furnished and lots of lovely details; the same with the bathroom. The room I had again had a TV with lots of channels, radio, mini bar (complimentary which is a rare thing!) and also a coffee machine.

There is a great choice for breakfast with fresh local bread and cheeses and honey etc.

The tree itself which is just outside the front door is spectacular and must be well over 100 years old.

Looking forward to my next stay.

Well, Cécile's friendly welcome is unique. The location is perfect, only 5 minutes far from the center, on foot of course. The room is very cozy with a superb bed. Great breakfast with my favorite coffee, so everything was absolutely perfect. Congratulation to your B&B Cécile and Peder and thank you again! See you next time!
