We read about they had a brewery and their own cheese but they seem to have forgotten the amazing marketing opportunity. During the 4-course meal at the restaurant we got a very unprofessional waiter and no information about the local products available. So disappointing. Luckily a great gin selection and knowledgeable bartender saved the night.

I organized a conference for approximately 40 people over two and a half days in September, with an additional two and a half day preceding workshop for 11 of us. I cannot say enough good things about the experience. The staff was always helpful, cheerful, and at our service at all times of day. The food was plentiful and very good. I especially enjoyed the lunch buffets and the lamb chop dinner. We arranged in advance to have some of the local cheese and beer, and this request was met. We also engaged in a lot of activities at the hotel - beer tasting, wine tasting, bread making, glass blowing (at Hadeland), and team building (with Fossen Friluft). We also had a private dance party in the downstairs bar. The social activities were all super! In addition we had scientific presentation sessions, poster sessions, and a small workshop - all the spaces we used for these activities fit our needs perfectly.

Yes, the bedrooms are dated and could use an upgrade, but they were very clean and you dont spend much time in the rooms anyway. Glamping was really luxurious and fun. The surrounding areas, including the gardens, the fjord, and the well-positioned sitting areas were perfect for soaking up the early September sun. The common areas are very comfortable and charming.

Special thanks to Anett who helped me organize everything, and to Michael in dinner service and Sven at reception, who were both very charming. :)

Located at the south tip of the lake, Randsfjorden, minutes from Hadeland Glassverk and a 10 minute drive from Kistefoss art center.
Quiet and close to nature. Relatively small rooms but comfortable enough with en suite.
To ask for a room facing the shore is a good idea. The breakfast was acceptable Covid-19 considered.
By the way, glamping is possible though not for us during these rainy days.

A huge disappointment.   It’s outdated that’s one thing but it’s filthy.  Yes it nice area and surroundings that’s it.   The rooms are awful you can hear everything from other rooms    Breakfast is ok but nothing to be impressed by.  Service is ok    The public areas where not clean and everything seems to be going downhill. Everything from last night, glasses, cup’s etc was still in the corridors this morning. Windows have not been cleaned since ever and the vacuum cleaner apparently is “ not working “Let’s hope the new owners will pick up on this ASAP!!!!
Btw we paid 2000 NOK for one night for standard room.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. We enjoyed ourselves at first, but things have been going downhill here after 2021 or so. During our last stay our room didn't seem too clean, and the surfaces were worn. The gardens were a mess, most of the flower beds were completely overgrown. Staff left trash, glasses, bottles etc. out all night.

Worst of all was our restaurant experience though. We had booked in advance, and had ordered the three course a la carte. The maitre d wouldn't seat us, because "we're full! See for yourself!" When we explained that we had booked a table at 19 pm, he said "well, so many people had arrived at 18 pm!" He then asked us to wait for an opening, but none came. Eventually it got too late to drive into town as well. It turned out several other people were in the same position as us, waiting fruitlessly in the bar for tables they had booked. Eventually we were all told to eat in the breakfast cafeteria instead. There was only time for a single course at that point. My husband's burger was okay, but my pasta was plain disgusting - grey, slimy and tasting of absolutely nothing.

Except for a mostly pleasant staff, and a good view, there really isn't much to defend the prices at this hotel anymore. Sad to say, we won't be coming back.

I stayed in this nice hotel in April 2016. The place is cool, calm and un noisy. Extremely cooperative staff. There are tracks for walking in fresh air outside hotel building. The lake, green area from room windows gives a good feel. Rooms are comfortable with basics. I found the food quality as superb during all my meals. The buffet breakfasts were immensely tremendous and delicious with all types of variety. Inside the training hall, the environment (outside calmness) was immensely super. Overall i loved the place and would love to be there whenever possible. The only disadvantage was the nearest market's distance. It was about 25 minutes walk from the hotel.

Thorbjørnrud is a small and nice hotel often used for meetings and conferences due to its location 1,5 hours out of Oslo. The rooms are very simple standard, but it is clean. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is excellent; Great locally produced food - both healthy and delicate. Recommended!

This was my 4th visit to this excellent hotel in Jevnaker. It is in a beautiful setting - most rooms have views of the lake and the hills beyond. The kitchen is gourmet with most of the food grown on their own farm. Staff are friendly and helpful. There is quirky artwork everywhere. The rooms are comfortable and basic. I recommend this quiet spot about a 90 minute drive from Oslo.

As a restaurant I would score this as a 5 star place. We had a memorable 4 course dinner with ingredients from their own farm. Lamb cooked for 12+ hours with an excellent choice of wines to go with it. Superb! The location by the water and the very well kept garden outside the mansion is very nice. The rooms are a bit dated, but offer a good nights sleep and all you need. This place is highly recommendable.
