The hosts of this hotel / home are very very friendly. The accommodation is really extraordinary: a very old farm building, but inside very cozy and great equipped! The breakfast, served by the host is very good! The food tastes like real food, all ecological and clean! Self baked !! fresh bread in the morning and really very good tasting coffee and natural juice..- so good after a quiet good night sleep in the cozy quarters! Easy access to the city of Gjøvik too!! Best if the whole family stays in the house, and you all together enjoy the living room with breakfast etc. A walk across the farm to the lake is great! Must be even better in the summer!! There are cabins to rent at the water too- not for us this time, since Fall times and more people! I recommend this accommodation very much!

We were driving back to Oslo from our time in Fjordland and it seemed that there was no availability in Lillehammer at a reasonable cost. We took a 'risk' and took the smaller roads, hoping something would show up and we are glad that we did. Stoke Nedre Gard is a beautiful property, build during a long gone era. The common rooms are beautiful, and the kitchen allowed for self catering, which can save you a bundle when travelling through Norway. We stayed in one of the rooms in the big house(shared bathroom), but there are more basic cabins on offer, too. The house was almost empty, which was a shame, but we were very happy with our stay. It would be a lot of fun to book the place out with a small group!
