Detailed Reviews
I have been let down many times by pubs pretending to be hotels. I reluctant booked to stay at this establishment only because it is near to where I was attending business meetings.
Check-in was reasonably OK. Lady was polite.
My room was a bit small but it looked like it has recently been refurbished. However, no desk in the room so I had to sit in the bed worked great on my laptop (although there is a small shelving thing at the corner for kettle and cups) and no shelves in the shower room for personal things. The shower was very weak, just a bit more than drizzles. The shower head was fixed quite high up on the wall. Shower doors did not close properly.
Couldn’t find control for heating, one night room was very hot and the other cold. The switch on the door lock was SO small making it quite difficult to open the door both in and out of the room.
Breakfast was “continental” which was mentioned when I was checking in. But it was very limited in choice. Also, breakfast starts at 7am, a bit late for business travellers.
I did not eat at the pub therefore unable to comment.
Could be better.

Stayed the wkend as we were visiting family, our room was very nice (I was really impressed by it,) with a fab bathroom very modern, really it was a wet room which was even better.
Pub side was open airy and nice n clean, but I think the bar staff need re training, always asked me at least 3 time what my order was! (Only 2 drinks)
Not much to say about the "continental breakfast"... toast or croissant which wasn't baked right through, girl didn't know how to make a cappuccino, (it was stone cold) fresh fruit juice and a fruit basket.
Sunday we went out early, came back around 4pm the place was quite busy with the Sunday carvery, we had a few drinks in the garden and I arranged to meet family in the bar at 6.30 for drinks. We went to our room came out at 6.15 to find the place in darkness and all locked up, with signs on the outside doors saying closed, no one had told us. Had to arrange drinks with family somewhere else. Saw a member of staff leaving and all she could say "it's closed", no explanation, nothing. Monday morning we were leaving the hotel and I had a word with management who said they put signs up all over that the were closing, must have been after we went to our room, also she'd phoned and emailed guests to let them know. I'm pretty sure we were the only one's staying, and I never received any form of notification of closing. Explanation was that they ran out of beer and food and there was no point in staying open...
I was Seriously not amused.....

We were so grateful to The Raven for squeezing 17 of us in for Sunday Lunch at late notice. The waiting staff were patient, attentive and very courteous, thank you!
The food was good, everything was hot and there’s was plenty to choose from. We had a couple of vegetarians who had the Veg Wellington, which was also enjoyed. And the desserts went down a treat.
We would definitely recommend and will absolutely be back.

A very nice warm welcome by Glenn the General Manager in a very cosy hotel where you can feel that everybody is doing his best to give you satisfaction. The pub is nicely located next to a "bowl" club where the locals can meet. The restaurant of this comfortable Inn provides you with very good dishes and a good variaty of draft beers. The service is cheerfull and smily !

I stay at this hotel week on week as I work away, the hotel manager (melody) and the rest of the staff are very helpful and will bend over backwards for you to ensure your stay has a positive experience.
They do afternoon tea (£10.99) which consists of a pot of tea some sandwiches and cake, I think this is an absolute bargain,
Sunday roast always smells great when I walk through to my room although I haven’t tried it yet it gets some great reviews from the people I speak to when I’m there.
Rooms are cleaned every day and fresh towels and fresh bed sheets every day !
I can’t recommend this hotel enough.

Absolutley terrible. Rooms are dated. We checked in at around 11am, staff were helpful but it does not change the fact of how bad it is. When we were arriving to our room, the hallway gave me the creeps. We booked a twin room and it stank of cleaning products and other substances. It made me sick. The breakfast was not that great. They re-used milk that was open previously and was out of date. It made me have a sick bug. Overall very dated and it should be knocked.

Well where do I start when we booked it was for a front view room that was confirmed by e mail when we checked in the room they gave us was at the rear and the window wouldn't open at first when it did there was a six foot solid fence right outside so we got a change of room the hair dryer was missing told a member of staff and they forgot had to see them again and about the the TV not working it was the wrong remote. The heating didn't work but they supplied a small heater. At breakfast the next day its a continental breakfast most people were looking for a cooked they don't advertise that it's a continental. The croissants were finished a hour into breakfast and the staff member said that they weren't putting anymore out as chef was busy preparing for lunch. I noticed one of the cleaners put sugar sachets in a bowl and the staff member told her it was for cereal so she lifted them out wit her dirty unsanitised hand and left the bowl there for someone to use for cereal. Next morning hardly anyone was at breakfast. The room maids aren't very good they left a bag of rubbish in the room and didn't hoover or dust as the electric towel holder was full of dust. Please note they don't accept cash anywhere in the hotel even at the bar.I must say the staff seem friendly enough.

Booked by a friend as needed to stay local for a quick overnight. The bar area seemed - ok on check in. Beyond that is like nothing I’ve seen before in this day and age. Yes I’ve travelled, a lot but it is revolting, there hasn’t been a penny invested in YEARS particularly in the communal areas, the place needs to be knocked. The only thing good about this place were the nice helpful staff. On the stairs and hallway to the rooms I immediately felt uncomfortable but held hope for my room. The condition is totally unacceptable, total neglect. Superior room was booked it was tiny, old, 1 small towel, i flushed the toilet after use and it flooded the bathroom floor.
The staff immediately got stuck in in investigating, chef and all with his toolbox, if only these staff had a decent hotel to represent proudly they would make a place do well. I was given another room, more modernly fitted out - why I wasn’t given this initially I don’t know. However the room smelled SO bad, mixture of musty, old, damp mop and damp in general. Slept with the window open for fresher air. The whole place gave me the shivers. I skipped breakfast, couldn’t wait to get home and wash myself and my clothes to get the smell off me and taste of it out of my mouth, now I just have to get the thoughts out of my head.
