We stayed here for just over 7 weeks from January to March in 2021 during the Coronavirus pandemic when we were between selling and buying houses and the whole team were brilliant, from the moment we walked into reception to check in, up to the moment we checked out.
After what was a very exhausting and stressful day of moving out of our house, we received a warm welcome from the assistant manager Gary, who made the check-in process very easy and we were soon in our spacious and comfortable room enjoying a nice hot shower and bath.
We stayed in room 21 on the ground floor which was great. The room was spotlessly clean and very quiet which was perfect as my wife was working from ‘home’ and provided the perfect setting for the many conference and zoom calls she completed. Because it is South facing it benefited from sunshine through the window most of the day
The room was very well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, good storage space, controllable heating, a large Samsung TV with access to all the Freeview channels and a king size Hypnos bed that gave a fantastic night’s sleep and although the hotel busied up during the weekdays, once in your room you would hardly know it as the soundproofing is excellent.
The experienced front of house and house-keeping teams did an excellent job at maintaining very strict cleaning and sanitising protocols throughout our stay so any concerns we might have had regarding the spread of the Corona virus within the hotel were massively reduced.
We could never have imagined we would spend a 7 week ‘hotel holiday’ in our home town and although we had considered other options such as renting, Air BnB’s or guest houses etc in the area we feel so grateful that we chose this particular Premier Inn for our ‘between houses’ period and would like to say a big Thank You to all the team at Premier Inn, St. Helens South, but in particular, Gary, Louise, Lisa, Vicky, Joanne, Paula and Sharon for being so very helpful, professional and good humoured which made our stay so very pleasant during these very strange and difficult times.
Thank you.
Steve and Annette Riley. Room 21. 22nd January to 16th March 2021.

This premier inn is very dated, needs a small freshen up maybe some new towels and working soap dispensers. We stayed here twice.. was a lovely nights sleep. The rooms are quite small but cosy for us. Bathroom is also very tiny. Hairdryer is to be desired. But overall and good stay.

we stayed one night here. Arriving after dark. The reception staff member was very pleasant and we were given our keys within 3 minutes of arriving. She noticed i was using a walking aid and asked if it would be helpful for me to have a ground floor room. 1st class , many thanks.
we went to our family party nearby. arrived back later on and slept thru until we had a suburb freshly cooked premier inn breakfast in the attached Beefeater.

The premier inn was in a great location, staff accommodated our athletes all on one floor and were readily available if needed. The Beefeater nect door could not have been more helpful. Amazing staff. Highly recommend.

Very good location, just off the main road, but quiet enough not to be disturbed. Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast in the Beefeater very good and as one of our party needs gluten free food, the staff were extremely helpful too. We will definitely be back.

Service excellent. Rooms very basic but comfortable apart from central heating system which had a mind of its own. Wifi awful. Sometimes over 5 minutes to connect to emails. You can pay extra to get "normal" wifi but these days, adequate wifi should be freely provided by the hotel. The wifi was not a blip as i stayed for 7 nights.

Hotel nice and clean, beds are really comfortable. The room has drink making facilities, and if you run out of tea bags, coffee etc, reception will give you some.
The staff are friendly and helpful, my husband needed to get his glasses repaired, and Gary was able to recommend an optician. Location good for moving around Merseyside.
Good COVID-19 protection in place.
Ample car parking available, with 3 disabled parking bays.

Room Tip: There is no lift in the hotel, so if you can’t manage stairs ask for a ground floor room.

Brilliant stay for a few nights working away from home. Great location with good driving links within St Helens and Merseyside. The hotel is in a really quiet location which is ideal and peaceful. My room was really clean and had a brilliant fan for the warm weather which was great. Bathroom was brilliant with a great shower as normal for Premier Inn. Good selection of items available in the room including good quality hand wash which is appreciated. The free wifi in the hotel isn't brilliant, so if you require wifi for completing work or watching films I would recommend buying the premium wifi. Overall, great stay and would recommend for anyone wanting a comfortable stay in the area.

We booked in for a 5 day stay with two adults and two children. The family room was great, the children had a single bed each, a nice big TV and loads of pillows. The rooms are a little old as it is a older hotel but it is spotlessly clean, the cleaners do a fab job though the whole hotel it’s clean, tidy and bedding and towels were so fresh and smelled great. No air conditioning but very good fan in the rooms, also asked for a top sheet for the bed as duvet is thick, beds were all very comfortable. The thing that really makes this hotel special is the staff, the gentleman on reception was super nothing was too much trouble and so helpful with booking tables for breakfast and dinner at the Beefeater next door.
Would recommend a stay here, St Helens was a good base for our holiday, close to lots of places and the town had a good cinema and nice shops.

Unfortunately this hotel does not have air conditioning in the rooms. It has heaters that you can manually change which is fine for the cooler months. You could perhaps ask reception if they are able to put a fan in your room if you are staying during the warmer months.

Do you know the friend? How old is the friend? Even if he answers these questions.. Are you SURE he is staying with who he says he is? Hotel staff can't stand in loco parentis. I think you'll find the answer in the small print on the website.

Probably able to. We did not mind where we we had a room. As for hairdryers, yes they have but as with most hotels, not the best!

Is breakfast made to order or it’s buffet style?
Answer from Gary

Hi Claire, thanks for your question. The breakfasts are provided by the Beefeater adjascent to the hotel and the hot food is cooked to order. There is also a continental buffet to choose from as well.
