Needed to find somewhere close to Reading so that we could attend a dance in the centre of Reading, most hotels were either full or asking for £100 to £150 for the night. My wife found the Emmbrook at £53.00, pleased to say that it was ideal, although breakfast was not included in the package we took. The staff are very pleasant and the inn is being run very well, on talking to one of the owners they have only recently taken it over and have spent the last couple of months getting it cleaned up and shipshape with plans to improve the rooms and outside space in the future. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee available and a nice size tv, bathrooms are good with very good water pressure for the shower. The outside of the inn is covered in flowers in pots and hanging baskets. We had a good breakfast in the morning, all freshly cooked and that came to £12.50 for both of us. I would recommend the inn to anyone looking for a stay in the area, there were some people staying there that were attending the Reading Festival. We will definitely consider staying there if we need to do so again.

Ate here on the first night after lockdown 2 ended and we were really impressed. The pub has been freshly decorated inside and is bright and clean. The food was delicious and freshly cooked with the unmistakably fresh Thai flavours. Good selection of wines to accompany our meal. The staff and management made us very welcome and adhered to safe distancing rules. We are booked in again this week. They do take away too.

Reason for three stars staff not on the case and need to up their game.
That said, the Thai food was exceptional, plenty of it hot and really tasty at a fair price, worth going just for the food alone.
Plenty of parking, the inside a bit dated, this could be a real gold mine if it was sorted out, like I said food worth the visit.

As Wokingham locals, my friends and I like to support local business and so we had booked at the Emmbrook Inn for dinner and drinks to watch football.. we then told a second group about it who also booked at the venue for a similar time, the plan was to watch the football and so out specifics were quite simple.. please ensure that we have a clear view of the screen.. This was promised and agreed..
Upon arrival we were shown to a perfect table and settled down at a rather empty venue (Yes England were playing later). Halfway through our first beer a man comes to our table with a rather smug attitude and introduces himself as the manager and tells us that we need to move to the table directly below the TV set so that half our party booked over a week ago would not be able to see the screen.. I must point out that at the time there were still nearly no patrons at the venue..
We were a little confused and explained that we were shown to this table and had booked it rather specifically the two tables could seat a similar amount of people and failed to see the reasoning, only to be answered well that's what he and the owner of the establishment wants and that is what will happen.. this was explained rather rudely, we proceeded to finish our beers and left to find a far better venue and told the other party as well..
I can honestly say that as a local to the venue, we will never again frequent that place, and caution future patrons about the shocking service and care less attitude..

Grabbed a takeaway from the Emmbrook Inn yesterday and really enjoyed a very tasty and inexpensive meal. Very friendly welcome from the owners as we waited to pick up our meal. Red Curry was very tasty as was Pad Thai

Service was a little slow but only because they had so many orders. Bodes well and will be nice to eat there when lock down ends

Stayed as a hotel guest as I was on a works visit.
I've stayed in Wokingham before, usually at a famous chain hotel, unfortunately due to the last minute nature of the bookings that hotel wasn't available.
I found this one via Booking.com and I'm very pleased I took a chance on it.
What a great place! The rooms may not be the most modern, but they are warm, functional and are ensuite, for under £80 a night, that's great.
The pub next door, well, what a great place.
Excellent atmosphere. Friendly staff who didn't just serve me robotically, but with a smile. Was even taken to my room, welcomed in with the door unlocked and light turned on, so old fashioned but I wish other places would still give that attention to detail. I'm used to simply having a key given to me and that's the sum total of interaction.
Again, this pub may not be the most modern inside, but I didn't mind at all. I felt like a local by the time my short stay ended, and will have no hesitation in staying again.
The drinks are reasonably priced, as is the menu.
The staff were just so welcoming, loved my chats with Claire, chef Ed (a married couple who are surprisingly new to the pub game, surprising as they are excellent and locals told me what a difference they've made in a short time here). In fact, all the staff I met, I missed the ladies name on Thursday but the bar deserves to be a favourite stay for all

Highly recommend the curry and the sausage and mash. Humble food, well presented and so reasonably priced too

Thanks again Emmbrook Inn, couldn't fault you

Really excellent Thai meal, plenty to choose from, fresh ingrediants and every dish was flavoursome and well portioned. Loved the chicken satay, fish cakes and duck spring rolls and the Pad Thai and Ginger Chicken were brilliant. The interior could do with losing the TV and whatever the flashing machine next to it was to improve the ambiance but overall the interior is clean and tidy. Service was varied with an engaging charming lady at the bar to a waitress who did not seem happy to be there but she was efficient so maybe it just wasnt her day. Excellent valuefor money and just a superb meal with friends.

We went over as we wanted Thai food but realised this isn't available anymore due to a change in staff.

However, the staff behind the bar were incredibly friendly, advising us that their linked pub just down the road still has Thai.

As we were there and there was a good atmosphere, we stayed to try something from the new menu, and we were glad we did.

There's quite a mixed menu so if you were going out in a mixed group of traditional pub menu eaters and more adventurous types you'd be well catered for.

I had the chicken Caesar salad which came out looking beautiful, the little bits of crispy bacon added just the right level of crunch and the chicken was flavourful. It was a good size portion too.

My partner had the chicken bites and chunky fries and I must admit I was gutted I didn't go for chips too! On a par with a proper chip shop, they were golden, crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. It's actually nice to see an adult menu with chicken bites on it, usually you have to ask for a children's meal which can be embarrassing!

Good selection of wines and spirits, friendly locals and a well maintained outside area with plenty of plants and tidy tables. The car park is even free and no sign of it being left without care as its not on show.

Looks like lots of things coming up and we will definitely visit again. The staff were great, not too in your face they really got the level between attentive and too much.

Well worth a visit to this hidden gem, even without the Thai menu.

Normally go into Wokingham town but decided to pop in here for lunch. Free parking and quiet so tables available. Very welcoming from the two staff on duty, very chatty, given plenty of time to pursue the menu. Went for a set meal each - good value; duck roll and satay both brilliant. Massaman curry plenty of meat and veg and flavour, good spice kick and a smooth texture, other restaurants very grainy. Large portions for a set lunch. Also had a pad Thai on the side, should of gone for a smaller portion as both full. It’s a pub so thats the decor but it does freshly cooked Thai food cooked to order with friendly service. What’s not to like.
