It was our first visit to Block Island, for a wedding, and most places were booked when I was trying to find a room, or they were well over $300, or required a week's stay. Then I found the Appleyard, which I thought was a B & B. Apparently, one organization (Block Island Reservations) handles rooms in houses all over...

The Appleyard is unusual for Block Island.....It is reasonably priced, has air conditioning, TV's (very few places have either air conditioning or TV's), a dorm size fridge, a coffee maker (again, very few places have these) and it is a very short walk to Old Harbor (less than 1/4 mile). The front door, through which you enter the rooms, faces...

The Appleyard was a fine place to stay. We stayed in room #3 which was on the ground floor of the house. It was a large room with a King size bed, bed was a little soft for me personally but comfortable anyway. The room has a mini fridge and coffee maker which is great! And has a large newly...

I chose the Appleyard because it seemed to be the lesser of all evils after weighing their reviews against those of their competitors. I felt that in this location we’d be less likely to be disturbed by other guests or traffic and I was right, it was peaceful. I chose Room #3 because it seemed to be the most spacious...

It was a clean nice room with a nice bathroom. Arriving was awkward. We had no idea where to go. The house had no one to greet us and it felt like we were intruding in someones home. Steep steps with luggage, both outside the home and inside.

The Appleyard 3 was very clean and close to town. The problem is, you check in at a different location, The Harborside Inn, and get the room key and a piece of paper with directions, then you walk to the location and nobody is there to greet you. You have to guess where to enter the house and when you...

Because we rented on a Monday, June 30th, 2014, the rate was very reasonable for APPLEYARD3, well under $200. And it was worth it! We're from Dobbs Ferry, NY, and may have been skeptical at first, but when we got there, it was like the image we see for the lower room: a king size bed, small refrig, cable TV,...

I was a little nervous about staying here, having never stayed here before. I stayed in room 3 on the ground floor of this private home. This is a very nice room with a huge added bonus-A/C, which is very unusual on the Block. Very clean, and nice location just outside of town. Very quiet. Don't expect a lot of...

DO NOT STAY HERE! i read the negative reviews here before I booked, but unfortunately, this was the only place that had space available for Labor Day. This is in NO WAY worth $229 + 13% tax/night. This is nothing more than an above average hostel. $50/night max is all it's worth. I have only negative reviews about this property....
