Teach An Cheoil was such an incredible experience and B&B in Ballyvoy in North Ireland. The hosts teach and play Traditional Irish Music which we got to hear first-hand at their Trad Trail (pub hops with them and others playing Irish tunes). It was very intimate and educational and is obvious how passionate and committed Micheal and Catherine are to bringing Trad Irish Music and Irish language back. They are incredible, giving, people who have an amazing B&B just up the hill from Ballycastle which is an adorable town right on the coast. The room and bathroom were spacious, spotless, and had every amenity needed. Breakfasts were homemade and delicious. The property is surrounded by green rolling hills with sheep which was so unique to see and hear. If you are looking for a true Irish experience, book a stay with Teach An Cheoil. You will truly enjoy your stay!

We had a great time here! Our host, Micháel, was fantastic, full of wonderful stories and details about the surrounding area. The room was huge, with a large bathroom and a lovely cat to greet us outside. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I would highly recommend this place, especially if you have any interest in Irish traditional music or the Irish language. The closest pub is a short drive away. The ONLY downside was that there was very little shelving in the bathroom or shower to hold all our stuff.

I had the pleasure of being one of the first guest at this new bed and breakfast near the Antrim coast. It's a lovely clean family home. The countryside could not be more picturesque and peaceful. They are a musical family with traditional kitchen sessions. They'll welcome you to join in playing, or just relaxing and enjoying the music, song and Irish culture. In my short stay, they had me playing whistle and learning Irish phrases! My room was bright and warm with a beautiful modern bathroom and plenty of hot water!

Located just outside the village in a little country lane with beautiful views across the fields to the sea. Stayed two nights in the ground floor room. Room comfortable and a good size with a decent en suite. The owner wasn’t in when we arrived but arranged for the key to be left with a neighbour, which was pretty decent. Lovely breakfast served both days and the host Michael recommended places to eat and visit. If you want to stay in a friendly home then stay here, especially for the peace and quiet. Would certainly visit and stay here again.

We've just had a lovely relaxing stay in Teach an Cheoil, just outside Ballycastle, in the beautiful north of County Antrim. The proprietors are the most friendly and welcoming you could meet and when we arrived there was a session of Irish traditional music going full swing in the kitchen (it drew to a close at a sensible hour too, which was a pity!) Teach an Cheoil is run by a family steeped in Irish music, language and culture, and their passion for their heritage is clear and infectious! Nothing was too much trouble for their guests and every request was met with courtesy and promptness. The B&B is spotlessly clean, warm and very comfortable, and the surrounding countryside provides stunning views from every window. Ideally-located just off the world-famous Antrim Coast Road, this is the perfect base for exploring and enjoying the surrounding countryside - the present reviewer would particularly recommend a trip across to Rathlin Island, for a complete escape from, well, everything! The proprietors are to be heartily congratulated on creating a unique B&B experience which is centered on great hospitality and comfort, combined with a totally authentic - not contrived - Irish cultural experience. Very highly recommended.

It was truly our pleasure and privilege to welcome Patrick and Bronagh here. Knowing their deep appreciation and skills for Irish traditional music and culture their kind words mean the world to us. We are the real McCoy or Sands (Ó Seanáin) in this case. We believe that our Gaelic culture is welcoming, inspiring and open to everyone from wherever they visit. In fact, it is our singular duty to promote it and we aim to do that via the B&B and in our lives as musicians, teachers and writers. Fáilte romhaibh uilig, táraigí ar ais chugainn gan mhoill.

This is one of the most wonderful places you will stay in Ireland. Music is everywhere in the house. So if you want a truly Irish experience with traditional music and language, this is the place. Great family I can't recommend it enough.

Travelling solo and felt very welcome in a quiet location near the beautiful Antrim coastline.

A good balance between privacy and hospitality and helpful suggestions on where to visit and eat.

Exceeded expectations. TV and DVD player in room (movies provided). Wifi, tea and coffee making facilities and a small but easy to use shower room with towels.

Exactly what I wanted.

Situated just outside Ballycastle village, this B&B was wonderful! Michael was so accommodating to us - making sure we had everything we might have needed. Their home is cozy, our room was very clean and comfortable. The surrounding countryside all around is family owned with cows and sheep on the hillside, a spectacular view of the ocean in the distance and an abundance of Irish charm. I wish that we had stayed more than one night as Ballycastle and the surrounding area is magical and the hospitality is a golden example of Northern Ireland and her people.

This was a very special place for us. Our daughter, a student of Irish language and music, found it, and we're so glad she did. Michael and Catherine are warm, welcoming hosts/musicians/teachers/poets/etc., etc., etc. If you want to experience the Irish love of music, literature, and conversation, please stay here. We went home with two books of Michael's poetry and memories of an evening spent listening to Michael, Catherine, and several of their friends playing traditional music in a local pub. The surroundings are extraordinarily beautiful—perfect for walking off the delicious breakfast—and the location near the sights of the Antrim coast is great.

For two lovely days and nights this month, we stayed at the home of Michael Sands and his musical family. There are plenty of regular reasons that this is special - the good food, the comfy beds, the casual atmosphere - but there are more compelling reasons that make this a very special place. A step onto the front porch brings you into clear view of the rolling hills of Ballycastle, and well beyond to the sea. Then, the music which wafts in (never annoyingly) from Michael, his wife, their students, and their children. Beautiful traditional Irish music that seems perfect for such a stay. Michael also shares his extensive knowledge of the area freely - we even when to the home of friends of the Sands to meet and feed their lamb - a totally special morning! Because of Michael, we toured places that no tourist would find, and heard Irish music in a Ballycastle pub that is a real for-locals-only expeirence. If you are headed to this region - and you should be - make sure you stay at the enchanting Teach an cheoil.
