Detailed Reviews
Chalet Sonne is a traditional comfortable chalet perfect for a small group. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. We had a really relaxing time. The new bubble at Natrun makes it easy to get onto the mountain and is a short walk from the chalet so brilliant for getting the muscles going. Select made booking very easy and sorted the airport transfers at a reasonable cost. The whole trip ran very smoothly.

We’ve just come back from a fabulous week at Chalet Sonne in Maria Alm. The chalet is very well situated just a few minutes walk from the lift and village. There are lockers at the lift where skis and boots can be stored overnight. It was our first visit to the area and the Hochkönig ski area offers plenty of skiing for beginners and experienced skiers alike. We’ll be back!

We spent an amazing week at Chalet Sonne on our first family ski holiday. Plus we were also celebrating our son’s 21st birthdays. The Chalet is situated 5 minutes walk from the lovely town of Maria Alm with good restaurants and the Natrun ski lift.
The Chalet itself is well equipped, warm and spacious and the beds were particularly comfortable.
The sun lounge is a lovely room and has outstanding views of the spectacular Hochkonig ski area.
We will always remember our stay at Chalet Sonne and the memories we made there.
Hope to return one day.

+1
Not recommended. The place was very dirty (mirrors, kitchen, ...) and partly desolate (broken kitchen shelf, loose stairs in front of the house, etc.). If you stay here at least take your time and take pictures of everything. Otherwise the host may claim that it was you who caused the damage.

Stayed here with my wife and 2 children for a few days skiing before Xmas. A great chalet as a base to ski the Hochkoenigin ski area. Just a few minutes walk to the lifts. Comfortable chalet, good size rooms and bathrooms. Very clean and tidy.
Huge thanks to Dimitri, Nikki and Kyle who were so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us when serving breakfast and dinner - and in fact at any point! Really made us feel welcome.
Hoping to return next year 😉

A real home from home in Maria Alm - we had a fantastic week in Chalet Sonne with Select. Nothing was too much for the Select from booking with Michelle and Martyn to a warm welcome from Paul, Seb, Tamar and Golan. A lovely chalet close to the slopes, plenty of snow and lovely food each day. The best family ski holiday and plenty of fun for adults and our teenage children. Thank you Select for all you have done for us! We will hope to be back again…

Just back from a fantastic holiday week at the Chalet. Our Chalet host was such a lovely girl, helpful, polite and generally nothing was too much trouble. She was great at cooking our morning eggs too!!!
The rooms are spacious with plenty of storage. The bed was super comfortable, just what you need after all the fresh air and exercise. The chalet was always warm.
The food was delicious every single evening, three courses and plenty of it. The variety excellent, topped off with pretty good wine as well.
The relaxation area (sitting room) was spacious and comfortable, plenty of DVDs and music available.
Having a sauna available was an added bonus and used every evening!!
There is a short walk in the morning to the bus station, but we organised to leave our skis near the bus station so it wasn't a difficult walk. There is ski storage at the chalet though.
Maria Alm is delightful, so quaint and traditional and the skiing area is pretty extensive. The lift system while we were visiting was perfect, plenty of good chairs and gondolas.

We spent a week here for a 30th Birthday. We had the whole chalet as there was 11 of us. We could not fault it. The chalet was lovely, the food was great and the chalet hosts Connor and Amelia were brilliant, they could not do enough to help. We would definitely return.

We stayed at Chalet Sonne for my husbands 40th Birthday we were a party of 9 so had the whole Chalet. Our party age ranged from 3 years old to nearly 70 and every one of us had a fantastic time.
When you book your trip to the Chalet the team in the office in England are brilliant, and helped with all aspects of our trip.
Our Chalet host was Roxy - who was outstanding as was Rob who was always on hand - helping to organise our ski hire and even finding shoe grips for my husbands mum so she would not slip over on any ice when walking to the village ( its those little personal touches that help to make your holiday).
Roxy accomodated everyone perfectly - she was fantastic with the children and organised their dinner for 6pm and them made us a wonderful 3 course meal at 7pm, she was again happy to help in anyway she could.
The chalet is beautiful - a picture postcard Austrian Chalet with stunning views. The village we worked out is an 8 minute stroll away. My mother in law did not ski but loved to walk to the village in the morning and as the children were learning to ski on the Natrun she was able to walk along and watch their lesson and have lunch with us all.
Our children attended the local ski school on the Natrun which they really enjoyed - they were both first time skiers and my daughter (6) was going up on the T bar and coming down the blue run by the end of the week.
All in all we had a wonderful time - I woud reccommend the chalet to anyone as well as the brilliant service it was really good value for money.
We will definately be going back.

This is the forth time that we have visited Maria Alm with Select Chalets although the first time that we have stayed at Chalet Sonne. My what a gem? So much so that I do not really want to write this review because I would like to keep it all to myself! The location is lovely, just a short rural walk from the main ski lift. We paid a small fee and hired lockets at the lift so didn't have to lug all the ski stuff around every day. The chalet is opposite a cross country ski track, which kept us entertained. Holly, our host, was amazing as was the food (and we are very picky). The chalet itself is most comfortable with a lovely sitting area for 9 of us to sit around in our P-Js chatting or watching one of the many good DVDs available. Transfers were all organised at head office as was ski hire, so everything was quick and easy when we arrived. As usual we were looked after by the company extremely well with it's normal first class service. Thank you team.
