Maggie is a great host who offers a very warm welcome to her lovely home. The setting is wonderful and the house is an interesting design and layout. The bed in our room was enormous and very comfortable, albeit the en suite was quite cramped and awkward at times - however acceptable for one night. Maggie is a fountain of knowledge about local restaurants and the history of the area. A great location to explore Le Touquet. Throw in a very nice quality breakfast and you have a really nice B&B.

We having been coming to this "home from home" for over 10 years and love Maggie's international hospitality switching effortlessly from English to French. In the winter there is a huge open fire and guests are encouraged to bring some wine from the local "Le Touquet Vins" to start the evening. A local taxi driver will whisk you to Maggie's selection of excellent restaurants so you do not need to drive.
Breakfast is beautiful french bread and croissants with local jams. Great coffee.
There is now a type 2 charger for electric cars
We try to come each winter to coincide with the Christmas market to return to England laden with wine, cheese and other goodies.
A lovely comfortable stay in a great wooded location with Maggie's enthusiastic welcome. Charmant.

We enjoyed a restful five day break at Le Belvedere and were met with fabulous hospitality and a warm welcome. Maggie, the owner, presents a beautiful french breakfast, served with a smile and a chat.
Very well-appointed room with extremely comfortable beds and modern clean and tidy decor.
The forest setting adds another layer of peacefulness. We cannot fault our stay.

We had high expectations of staying at Le Belvédère.
On looking around the B&B we noticed that it was looking tired with paint peeling off the window shutters and a missing window pane in the porch.
We were shown to our room, which was situated just off the breakfast and tv room - we were concerned that the room would be noisy.
We were even more concerned when we entered the room to find two cats sleeping on the beds - we were horrified and speechless.
I also noted that there was twin beds in the room when the picture advertising the room seemed to show a double bed. The expected noise, cats and twin beds teamed with an unwelcoming host was a deal breaker for us - we did not stay and left for alternative accomdation in Le Touquet.
Most certainly would not recommend.

Response from TheBelvedere, Propriétaire at Le Belvedere

I am greatly saddened that, although this gentleman has never spent a night at the Belvedere and was in the house for less than 5 minutes, he feels justified in posting such a negative review. It is important to me to try redress the balance and I would mention that Nevilleb1 booked earlier in the year at a time when he had a choice of all my rooms but specifically requested this room, by name, at the time of booking his one night stay. A photo labelled ‘The Terrace Room’ can be seen in the photo gallery on this webpage and on my own website and I truly believe it clearly shows the room to have twin beds I do not own 2 cats but one and he is NOT allowed in the guest rooms, only in the uncarpeted areas. On this particular occasion however the bedroom door had been left ajar and he had indeed sneaked into the room for which I apologised and immediately offered to launder the bedcover. There is no ‘missing window pane in the porch’; this is a catflap Contrary to Nevilleb1’s description of the house as ‘tired’ it is in good decorative order inside and out. A guest photo of the exterior was posted earlier this month on this Trip Advisor page – see photo labelled ’Perfect location for a relaxing break’ in the photo gallery – which allows anyone interested to judge the current general state of repair of the house for themselves It is true to say that the ironmongery parts on some of the shutters could do with a touch of Hammerite and there is one pair of shutters at ground floor level which has been damaged but that is a far cry from the state of dereliction Nevilleb1 implies. As any owner of a large seaside property will tell you, fighting the damage caused by salt air to woodwork is an ongoing battle and my french windows are all brushed aluminium for this reason. Work on the shutters is scheduled for the downtime at the end of the season along with other decoration and repairs Nevilleb1 speculates that the room he selected might be noisy, however all my rooms are well-insulated acoustically and there are a number of extremely positive reviews on this site from guests who have stayed in this room and found the peace and tranquillity they were expecting. As he did not spend the night here Nevilleb1 is not really in a position to judge, I feel Given Nevilleb1’s other negative accommodation posts and his dislike of cats, my only suggestion is that he analyse closely his accommodation needs and perhaps in future avoids rural bed and breakfasts in France where he runs the risk of owners having pets

Located in a quiet cul de sac approximately 1.5 miles from Le Touquet. The owner is friendly and having lived in the area for many years well qualified to give advice and make recommendations. At 68 euros per night it is cheap for the area but this does mean that the accommodation is not the best.

Our room described as 'South' and situated on the second floor was very dated in terms of decor, furniture and bathroom fittings. The bathroom was fairly clean but the shower was less so. The matresses on the beds were very soft and probably should have been replaced many years ago. Being on the top floor and having no air conditioning or fan the room was hot and would have been unendurable on very sunny days.

Breakfast was adequate while the communal lounge in which it was served was very nice and gave access onto a patio and rear gardens.

Overall and for the price it's good and would be excellent if some of the details were addressed.

We have been staying at Le Belvedere for years, on and off and still we return...why?
We are always assured of a warm welcome by Maggie, owner of the house in the forest, we always know that we will be given a clean and tidy room - in this case the apartment attached to the house and we appreciate the little kindnesses that Maggie, the perfect host, extends to her guests, which make each stay more memorable.
Will we return? Of course we will, as soon as we are able.....this time maybe with friends too.
Thanks again Maggie, your halo glows even brighter !

We enjoyed our stay at Le Belvedere. It is situated amongst the trees in a beautiful neighborhood. It was a lovely drive to get there.

The hostess, Maggie, was very friendly, welcoming and genuine.

There are several room options. We booked one of the smaller rooms room which was fine for overnight (the bathroom was also rather small) but if we stayed longer we would have chosen a larger room, possibly with a balcony or larger window to look out.

The bed was large and very comfortable and the room was well furnished.

The contintental breakfast was delicious and quite extensive.

It is a relaxing place to stay and we would definitely recommend staying here when visiting the area.

We stayed in the self contained apartment near the car park and by the front door, the settings around the hotel were stunning and we loved the fact we had a little garden to the side if needed to sit out, we stayed here with two adults and two children. Le Touquet was very pretty and lots to see.
Maggie was very informative about the area and told us what we needed to know.

Our apartment seemed really nice, in which it was but I have to bring up a few points that personally could have been improved, as we're were self catering, we had brought food etc with us, cooking utensils/ oven etc were not clean and certain plates, forks things were greasy we needed to wash them, the cupboards were falling apart and they had food items that were In there out of date which were not ours, the apartment had a funny smell to it, which I couldn't put my finger on.
The fridge was very old and rusty, and we couldn't put our ice pack in the freezer as it had over frozen and bursting out with ice, it's wasn't spotlessly clean.
Ants were also a problem in the apartment, as our bread in cupboard was covered in ants next morning.

Our sofa bed, was all ripped and the mattress had seen better days and have to say it was the worst two nights sleep we had.
The toilet had marks in it when we arrived, it didn't look clean, the bathroom was clean and towels and bedding were clean. There was no soap etc to wash hands in bathroom. We had to use our shower gel.
The mop in the bathroom as there was water after a shower was dirty and had a few strands on it.
Kids bedroom carpet was worn and dressing table falling apart too.

We also were greeted by two cats, the chairs in our apartment looked like it had been used as a cat scratcher for a long while, and the mat on arrival was covered in cat hair.

I know its a list of negatives, but I've stayed in lots of places weather 4* or 2* but clean rooms and utensils/ equipment are a must..
Overall a lovely place, maybe the hotel is a lot better

This was our 3rd stay at Le Belvedere, and just as lovely as our previous visit's. This is a wonderful place to chill out, we stayed in the West room which is a very nice room. The whole house is great so very clean and the breakfasts were great. Maggie is a delightful hostess and nothing is too much trouble, she makes us feel so very welcome. Highly recommend a visit.
The restaurants in Le Touquet are great especially the Du Paris in the town opposite La Coupole.
We shall definitely be visiting Maggie again soon.

First impression deceive here.
The location is quiet and well positioned some 2 miles from the town centre and near the golf and forest area.
The house is substantial but poorly maintained with tired rooms and decor and lots of cats!
The gardens overgrown and messy with terrace not swept or cleaned
The pillows smelt like they were stuffed with deceased cats and were quite obnoxious (Clearly they were just sweat soaked and not dry cleaned.) They smelt to such an extend my wife went out and bought two new ones so we could get some sleep.
The counterpane was stained with I dont know what and the linen cheap and un-ironed.
The bathrooms were adequate and clean but the breakfast was a poor bread and jam affair with one croissant each and coffee or tea. No cheeses or meats.
The landlady, Maggie, seemed very keen to take your money and provide only the minimum of service.
I would not recommend this establishment as there are others in Le Touquet which are much better value.

Lord G and 'Lady P' paid less than £33 GBP (€40 EUR / $55 US) per person per night for a spacious en suite room with continental breakfast, tourist tax and parking included right in the heart of Le Touquet’s forest and I believe this is excellent value for money I can see that Bedwetter (l’Incontinent) has written 11 accommodation reviews on Trip Advisor so far and 8 of those were rated ’poor’ or ‘terrible’ and 1 ‘average’. This makes me think that he is either very unlucky in his choice of accommodation or that he is someone who is generally dissatisfied The breakfast included in the room price is the classic French breakfast of baguette with croissant and pain au chocolat that I bake fresh in house every morning and serve with butter, preserves, orange juice, fresh seasonal fruit and percolated coffee plus a selection of various teas or hot chocolate. Bedwetter probably does not know that cheese and ham are not customary elements in a classic French breakfast but more importantly he omits to mention that guests who don’t wish to have a bread and ‘viennoiserie’ breakfast can order a full English breakfast or the wholesome fruit platter with cereal and toast option for a small supplement. I don't offer, however, an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast in the Club Med style Guest rooms and communal areas were freshly decorated only this Spring and after a thorough investigation I was unable to find any trace whatsoever of a malodorous pillow. All bedrooms are cleaned daily and my bedlinen is from the premium manufacturer ‘Dorma’, suppliers by warrant to Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales. Le Belvedere has an informal wooded garden and you will recall that, exceptionally, June 2012 was the rainiest in living memory. As a result it was not possible to use the electric Flymo during the 36 hours per week when mowing is permitted so the grass had indeed become quite long. Also, during Bedwetter’s stay the terrace was in the process of being re-tiled. Happily, the lawn is now mown and the terrace re-tiled and I apologise for any temporary loss of enjoyment this may have caused my guests For information I have two cats only and they spend a large part of the day outside in the woods In addition to the guest rooms and breakfast I also arrange golf tee times, help guests find a Channel crossing for the best price, book taxis and restaurants, advise on sightseeing, local events and history, provide maps and brochures and make my BBQ and library of books available to guests. All this at no extra cost. I am uncertain which other services Bedwetter expects a small bed and breakfast to offer. I am very disappointed that Bedwetter did not discuss his problems with me during his stay because that would have given me the opportunity to find a prompt solution
