My husband and I stayed here in mid October, when most of Puglia is closing/ slowing down just after their summer rush. Rosangela and her staff were very caring and thoughtful, offering to make restaurant reservations, providing a delicious breakfast and answering any questions we had. They even gave us a bottle of wine for my husband's birthday! The grounds...

My friend and I arrived by car in late twilight, and got lost among the olive groves of Torre Spaccata. Rosangela came to the rescue and led us, through narrow dirt roads, tightly bordered by old grey stone fences, to what I can only describe as heaven. A beautiful old stone mansion, surrounded on every side by massive ancient olive...

It's not as difficult to find as the friendly staff seems to think, but the service of being met in the village, in order not to loose ones way is certainly appreciated. The Masseria feels certainly remote, even though it's not far from the main street. We didn't get the room we've booked with the argument that the meta searcher...

Masseria Brigantino is a special place, hard to forget. Room was huge and fantastic. A pity there is no swimming pool but they are actually building one. Nice environment, a bit difficult to find but Roseangela picked us up at a meeting point. Was a very nice experience.

First stay in Puglia and immediately a great experience. Rosangela is super friendly, open, communicative,... The rooms are big and very well decorated, the breakfast is super tasty and the masseria is close to different sights such as the trulli houses of Alberobello and Polignano. The wifi is only available in room, but hey, who needs wifi if you're on...

The place is wonderful, the owners extremely kind and efficient, the room we've been given was pretty huge, confortable, cosy and well furnished, including a beautiful iron crib apparently from the 20s. Rosangela - who runs the place - deals with her guests with kindness and familiarity, so that it sounds almost as being at home, thought she's ready to...

Masseria Brigantino will leave any visitor with an unforgettable memory of Puglia. This place is really unique, combining luxury comfort with a true traditional experience. Rooms and service are simply outstanding. Ask Rosangela, owner of the Masseria, to take you for a short visit of the caves (where sometimes they organize amazing and unusual cooking classes!). The olive trees sourrounding...

Our stay for 4 nights at the Masseria Brigantino in October of 2012 was wonderful! It is an amazing place. Roberto and Rosangela made our visit to Puglia both memorable and unforgettable. They arranged a surprise dinner to celebrate our anniversary (cooked by the entire family) to be served for us in the romantic citrus garden under a gazebo under...

We stayed here for my wife's birthday as a base for touring Salento. There is a wonderful ambience about the place and there is plenty of space to feel as if you have the place to yourself. Breakfast was authentic and generous. The room was cleaned daily and the bed very comfortable. Our hosts could not have been more helpful...

Just wanted to comment on what a lovely, authentic, unspoilt place this was. Definitely recommend to stay here... -the Masseria holds the remains of an olive mill and is surrounded by olive trees farms. The owner (father) walked us around the farm showing us some of the ancient olive trees. It had a beautiful southern italy countryside feel even though...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
While travelling along the roads of Puglia it’s easy to come across some big farm-houses that come out from century old olive trees’ crowns or vineyard rows: these are the “masserie”. These buildings were deputed for various scopes, already existing during roman times, developed with the Lombards and then became private entrepreneurial activities around the XVII century A.C. The masserie have had different vocations along the centuries, which have characterized and made each of them a unique and unrepeatable example in our agricultural landscape. Masseria Brigantino is all of this. Its history begins with a cave settlement founded by Basilian monks in the VI-VIII century A.C., used afterwards as an underground olive oil mill. The masseria was built on these settlements that in the XVII century A.C. became a resting place for elderly priests and a hermitage place to be used later on as a safe place by brigands (that’s why “Brigantino”) thanks to several caves that surround the property. Even if in the last centuries it was a holiday resort for a noble Neapolitan family, it kept its agricultural production of olive oil, cotton, wheat and citruses like some local evidences say.On the property, recently acquired by a local family, a conservation intervention has been done by local artisans and techniques only by using stones, wood and wrought iron that have allowed to recover the masseria keeping its original soul and aspect. Currently Masseria Brigantino, located close to the small neighborhood of “Torre Spaccata”, is a vintage accommodation, surrounded by Mediterranean scrub, groves of reeds, carob trees and olive groves facing the Adriatic sea, which still maintains its agricultural vocation. ... more   less
