The location is excellent: near the station and near the city centre.
The room is very confortable, tidy and cleaned every day. The staff is OK, expecially Mr. Anil, who is very kind and professional.
You can also buy the "health path" in a room with Jacuzzi, sauna and you can stay on your own there for 90 minutes, relaxing with music and eating fresh fruit.
The breakfast is very good. The first two days there were some problems but, thanks to Mr. Anil, everything was solved. Thank you so much for your kindness, Mr. Anil!

This hotel is very nice, clean and boutique. More than that, the staff are wonderful! Anil was at the front desk and could not have been more helpful, kind and attentive. My wife and I are so grateful for all of his help … when we were there, the taxi/trains went on strike the day that we were traveling and found ourselves stranded. Anil went out of his way to make sure we reached our destination. He and the staff really care about their guests and I can not recommend this hotel enough.

This small boutique hotel is nicely located 10 mins walk from the city center. The lobby is small but cozy with plenty of design couches to hang out.
The rooms all have high ceilings and carpeting. Avoid the front 2 rooms are they are smaller than the rest. The bathroom was massive and the amenities have a great scent! I was not able to use the Spa as it is only available with a pre-booking and there is a couple days wait...
The breakfast was better than a continental breakfast with fresh ingredients but lacked the choice of eggs.
I would definitely return to this hotel, especially if I could have used the spa as it looked great!

Cleanliness & Comfort
The room had an excellent air conditioner. The air conditioner only worked with the key room card, and there was some error with it when you pulled the key card out. But the hotel staff reset it for us within 5 minutes. Our room was very quiet. Although the entire hotel seemed very quiet. I don’t imagine that Foligno gets many tourists. The only people staying at the hotel seemed to be business guests, and the military. Felt very safe at breakfast, eating with several military staff each morning. The were also black out drapes to block the morning sun from waking us too early. The room size was good. Places to store luggage and lots of desk space to store camera gear and charge equipment. The bed was a queen.

Location
If you were driving to the hotel, you would need a gps with Italian maps. It’s a bit winding, and Foligno seems to have outer ring roads (one-way) that circle the town. The hotel is located across the road form the train station. So if you have trouble finding the hotel, as it and the parking are located on a one-way road, just ask for direction to the train station, park the car, and walk to the hotel to get your bearings on the entrance to the one way road. The free parking for the hotel is located and only accessible if your access this one way road. Walking to the historic area of the town is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. A few good restaurants are within 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. There is a restaurant by the train station that is suppose to be really good! I never tried it, but it may be worth a try for late night arrivers! Foligno is not a very tourist active area. You will interact with mostly locals in the town. But with the said, the locals are some of the friendliest people. We visited a small pizza shop and bakery in the historic area a few different nights for some late night munchies, and the locals there welcomed us as if we were living in Foligno for years! And they helped us with our Italian quite a bit, and the service was superb again! I’m a firm believer that you will find what you a re looking for in people!

Hotel Staff
We had the pleasure of interacting with several persons on the hotel staff. Every single person was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The front desk personnel were always in a good mood. It seemed as though asking them a question made them happier! And the breakfasts were excellent. More than enough choice of foods, and the cappuccinos were superb. The lady serving us remembered us every morning, and always brought out 2 cappuccinos without even asking us what we wanted! I can’t repeat it enough… the staff here really are excellent people! It made the stay in a non-touristy town very warm and welcoming! I sure hope the hotel manager reads this, as it can’t be said enough!

This was the cheapest hotel we stayed at in Italy, and it was probably one of the better hotels. I would stay here again based on my experience with the hotel. The only downfall is that there is not much to do, as a tourist, in Foligno. So make sure you have a vehicle to help you visit the surrounding towns.

If you are going to Foligno for work or relaxation, please consider the Hotel Platani...it's absolutely beautiful! After a traumatic few days, the last leg of my trip was to Foligno and this superb hotel. It's within easy walking distance of the town (5minutes) and the fantastic eating places that only Italy can produce...I haven't stopped talking about the food for two weeks!...anyway. Beautiful hotel, extremely friendly, courteous and discreet service, beautifully presented breakfast and lovely rooms. Take the train to Foligno and see the scenery. This hotel is immediately across the road from the railway station but there is no intrusive noise.
I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. Many thanks too, to Amil on the desk...and his cricket conversation!

Me and my boyfriend arrived at Foligno on 1st July, the hotel is just across the train station, very near and easy to get there, not even taking us two minute to walk to the hotel.
We received a warm welcoming and all the staff members were really kind and helpful.
We stayed at the hotel for five days and we were really pleased with our stay.
A very good place to stay if you want to travel to the places near by, such as Spello, Assisi and the other places in Umbria.

My wife and I wanted to take a tour of the beautiful Umbria region...the green heart of Italy.... and were advised to stay in Foligno, which is an ideal location, because most trains connect at the Foligno train station; so we searched for a hotel in this town, and found the Villa dei Platani. This lovely 4 star hotel is located a stone's throw away from the Foligno station....just about 1 minute walk....and about 5 minutes walk from the Foligno town centre. It is extremely convenient because there is no need for a taxi when carting luggage from the train station, or after a tiring sightseeing day out. The hotel is very clean, has an elegant feel to it, and has pleasant extras like free mini bar (water and soft drinks), which is replenished daily, as well as a mini t.v. in the bathroom. The breakfast is extravagant, with a selection of freshly baked bread, hams, and salamis, as well as local dips, cereals, and a large selection of fruit, nuts and cakes. The atmosphere is very relaxing, being a really charming Italian villa with an elegant decor, and the staff at the reception are friendly and very willing to help....on the first day of arrival, the young man at reception also gave us a card, and told us to call so that they could help should we be lost or find ourselves in trouble of any sort. The beautiful town of Assisi is just 10 minutes (2 stops) away from Foligno. Spello (another must see), is just one stop away (5 minutes), whilst Perugia (about 25 minutes away) and Lake Trasimeno (about 1 hour away) are also on the Foligno Firenze line. Within Foligno, the shops and restaurants are only about 5-10 minutes away on foot. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa dei Platani and will stay there again when we next visit the Umbria region.
