We drove to duinrell from
Kent but once onsite we didn't use the car at all! We caught bus/train to Amsterdam last year but this year I noticed they do a coach trip that is really reasonable and includes a boat trip as well for about €35 each. The local town is just across the road and round a corner so it would be daft to drive there(we did the first time we went). It is quite a horrible drive from Calais with lots of motorway changes but if you caught the ferry to the hook of holland it's only a 25 mile drive

As already mentioned the local Jumbo will have everything you need and if you don't want to have to go straight back out once you arrive you could always buy what you need at Schiphol before you leave there, there is an Etos (think Boots) in the Arrivals hall so you can get supplies there.
