Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Third time to Butlins but oh how things have changed. As a resort with activities for the kids, they would have a good time whatever happens, whatever the weather. Our expectations as far as experience go have always been met, basic accommodation but perfectly workable, plenty to do, and an enthusiastic welcome from staff. Night one and we are very disappointed with the accommodation. First step in the stuck communal door that wouldn’t shut, into a damp and dirty hallway. Then through the front door with lumps knocked out of it into the accommodation, to be greeted by the apartment that the cleaners almost forgot, but must have had a quick run round with a dry cloth. The walls, doorframes and skirting boards are think with dirt, the kitchen is mucky and greasy, the wall heater has scorch marks all over it, and the bathroom is disgustingly dirty. All of the carpets are beyond cleaning and need replacement. The food was basic, with a lot of the nicer options from previous visits missing. I’m expecting hot buffet selection of a moderate standard, but many of the dishes were well below par. What seemed like a shortage of staff, leaving many empty trays and limited selection. Canteen staff were quick and friendly though. Someone should carry out studies on the carpet in Centre Stage; I’d be sure there are undiscovered species living in it. 1/5 for Butlins on the occasion, would be pushed to come back.

I hope this reaches the right people, obviously goes without saying that the red coats are brilliant at their jobs but some staff go unnoticed and are absolutely amazing. Courtney, Catalonia (hope I’m spelling it right), & Keith from the Coral Beach Restaurant have been amazing all week, nothing was too much to ask of them, even helping with security issue I had on site and being so friendly and loving towards my little boy, would always greet with a smile and it felt very genuine not just as if they’re only doing it because they are being paid to do so. The arcade staff in the pavilion, who obviously doesn’t like Birmingham city football club (lmao who does) and was laughing at us “Brummies”, absolutely amazing gentleman and so lovely with my toddler while helping me with the ticket machine. Also big shout out to the two male photographers, I’m so sorry didn’t catch your names but you’re fab. Thanks for a brilliant week!

Had a brilliant week did all the activities we planned everything was running on time, accommodation was clean lots of space for my little one to get around we stayed in silver rooms. Jasper at the showtime studio was brilliant I was unsure what package to get or what was best value for my money I took a while to decide but he was so patient and smiley my child found him hilarious. Only thing that we didn't enjoy was our fire alarm going off along with our blocks alarms going off at around 4:30am on the morning if leaving which can't really be helped other than that we had the best time.

Myself, partner and daughter stayed for the festive break 27th November - 1st December. Way too busy. We were lucky enough to book to see Santa which was magical. The rest of the trip wasn't. Had other guests banging on our door through night which ended up in an argument. Didn't feel safe and was too scared to report to security as they had threatened not to. Couldn't get booked into any shows as full booked. Had premier dining plan which was pointless as way too busy to get anything decent. I've been to Butlins several times over the last few years and loved it. Really didn't this time! So disappointed. We came home a day early after the confrontation with the other guests. Won't be returning here again. Maybe another resort next time.

Me & 6 girl friends attended the 90’s reloaded weekender 1st to 4th December. It was our first time at Butlins. We absolutely loved every minute! The food was amazing! We had the breakfast and evening meal buffets in the Deck. The choice and quality was excellent. The entertainment was ace. We had so much fun in fancy dress the whole time. I would highly reccommend and we will definitely book another one. The only let down was the rooms. Not very clean. Carpets didn’t seem to have been vacced and i had to rinse the shower out from shaving hairs from the last occupiers! Another of our rooms bedding was stained. Apart from that, the beds were very comfy and the rooms were warm with the heaters on so for the amount of time we spent in them, they were fine.

We went to Butlins Skegness as a family for October half term. PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN PLAY ON THE SKYPARK! My 6 year old daughter broke her thigh bone on the red slide. She followed all the rules, came down feet first with her arms crossed and she was smashed into the side of the slide causing a break. You will find another review on here stating a boy also broke his leg on the blue slide. That's at least 2 broken legs since the park opened earlier this year. I contacted customer services via the app to request assistance and was told a first aider would be sent but nobody turned up. I contacted Butlins when we got home to inform them that my daughter had broken her leg and asking them to look into the safety of the slide but they really couldn't care less. They did ask me to contact them again when I wanted to book our next stay though. What a joke! My daughter has suffered terribly for the last 6 weeks and could have life long problems due to the location of the break. It breaks my heart and I wish we had never gone to Butlins! Butlins customer service really need to get their act together. Other things to note from our stay. The Fairground apartment is in desperate need of refurb. It was very tired grubby. I will NEVER go to Butlins again.

What a weekend we had at 90s Reloaded. We stayed in seaside apartments immaculately clean and near all the amenities. Food was average but plentiful. The acts were great music and DJ s paying great 90s tunes. The only downside was the queues for the bar in Reds and Centre Stage and Studio 36 you could wait up to 30 minutes for a drink and also the pool being closed all weekend so no pool parties. Definitely we are going again let’s hope we can get a drink and a swim next time. Excellent value for money

total shambles. room had no working shower, had to wait in for repair to be carried out... this happened last time we came to butlins too. there is a bright green light in the bedroom on a shaving light, as to why its there in the first place is odd as you would normally shave in the bathroom - just take it off. but this has two bright green lights on it that cannot be turned off, it seems in their wisdom the cleaning or maintenance team had decided to stick a couple of bits of cardboard, old birthday card no less over each end of the light to cover, but this does not work and it means you cannot sleep in darkness as it cannot be turned off as hardwired with no on/off switch. the splash waterworks and slides were out of action we were notified by email 3 days before our visit they would be closed all week, this is a major part of our break as my daughter loves the slides and we go most days and have fun, 25 pound on site voucher is no compensation as butlins get this back anyway as you have to spend it on site on your over priced tat in the shops or on overpriced drinks and food, this should have been a cash refund or 50 off our next break. the fairground is a joke as 4 rides state out of order or in need of maintenance, the rides are the most popular ones inc the new one that goes up and down thats been open less than about 6 months and the ever popular waltzer.. its a joke, if they are been maintained then nobody was seen on site all week doing any work to the rides, just a sign in place... this was clearly a lie and you did this to save money on costs of operation or staffing the rides as maybe a slow week for you, if not then why were they not fixed. 4 rides out of about 10 is completely unacceptable, as my daughter is 14 there was little she could go on apart from the dodgems as everything else was for small children. the shows were meant to be bookable on the app, but no, they said either fully booked or not available etc. just blanked out on screen, we walked to the main stage to see a show one night and it was cancelled and the doors locked, another queen show was on at stage36 and you had clearly crammed everyone in here instead again as a cost saving exercise no doubt. another show was cancelled last minute and we had to sit through a terrible tina turner karaoke show instead with what looked like a drunk on stage, so we left early as it was so bad and not the show we booked at all. the safety on resort was poor as full of drunk families shouting and swearing at their children and nobody getting told to move on or warned. the place stunk of drugs strongly all over but especially the fairground area. people were sat upstairs in the sky bar in main stage openly vaping in the evenings which i felt was wrong, it stunk and really gets down me, and again they just got away with it as nobody was around to check - the security team simply stand at the door and do not seem to monitor anything inside. the staff are rude, bar staff lazy and never smile in jellyfish especially the girl who may be the manager, its a filthy mess on every table with glasses and b.k food and packaging scattered everywhere but they are stood around chatting to each other still behind the bar, no guinness most of the week, yet still on sale at hotshots for some reason which is odd, maybe they couldnt be bothered to put it on. you cannot use the on site vouchers in costa they were refused after queing ages, thank you for that..she was really snotty about it too. burger kind overpriced and no offers that you would get on the high street. sadly ludos which was great has now gone in favour of papa johns so no nice different styles of pizza and quality pasta anymore or the great salad bar lunch option, it was excellent, your most authentic place on site... but now generic high street rubbish and a lot more expensive. rude staff at main stage too, i had not booked a show as the app did not let me, i asked capacity of the security team and he said about 900, i asked how many were in and he said about 200, but would not let us in, instead i was made to stand in a non bookers line with loads of others like naughty school kids even though capacity was at less than 25% .. do you not see the stupidity of this, you are wasting peoples time and evening queuing for something they cannot booked online as your app is faulty and they did not need to queue for in the first place as there is clearly plenty of room for everyone who wants to be in there. this place is ran by idiots and it was a shambolic experience and a waste of a holiday, we will not repeat now, its gone so far downhill this time that as premier members for many many years and coming to skegness 1-2 times every year for over 13 years, we are done and will never return... which is solely down how poor butlins is managed and their attention to detail, or lack thereof at every level. haven could not be more different, the staff, cleanliness, options and choice, entertainment, value for money and food and drink options all surpass what butlins now offer, they are stuck in the past and are an outdated concept that needs to go the same way as pontins, or seriously up their game.

Holiday ruined! Booked to go December but told swimming only available for 1hr for the entire week. My son is disabled and swimming the only reason we decided to go. I explained this to butlins and was basically told tough luck. "No refund". I asked if I could change dates as a good will gesture..."no". Now we are hundreds of pounds out of pocket and Christmas ruined. Is butlins just another ripoff company with no sympathy for families who have trusted them with hard earned money they can ill afford to lose. Shame on you!!
