The other ratings are favorable, but my wife and I don't concur. The room, on the top floor corner, as spacious and bright, although the attached bathroom was somewhat funky and no hot shower. The staff seemed diffident, mumbling, and just plain odd. That, and we happened to

Dear Roger, Thank you for staying with us and I am sorry if everything wasn’t up to your expectations or standarts. The corner room on the second floor is our best one and has its own private bathroom and private reading / dining area but most of all it has the most incredible view of the Moonland that you can find in Lamayuru. It’s a brand new room, it has just been completed and they may still be a few things that are not perfect but the electric heater in the bathroom provides hot water …unless we have no electricity which happens in Ladakh as you know more often than we would like …but Ladakh is not America 😉 With regards to the staff, we always try to be as welcoming as possible but English is not their mother tongue and access to education is not always easy… again this is Ladakh and we are fighting everyday to improve our knowledges…. And we believe that when we can’t express ourselves properly a smile or kindness will make things work. For the menu and the food: we can actually cook everything that is on the menu, and not only that, we will only use local and mostly organic product, all cooked in a family and traditional way. Our kitchen is indeed small and poorly equiped compared to your standarts I guess but we do our best to make the best of it and we clean it daily. Living in Ladakh is tough, the location is incredible but this is not the richest area of India, we struggle everyday to preserve what we have, to help and support each other and to make sure that even if we are sometimes struggling we’ll keep a smile on our faces. We have also started a young NGO called “rMilam” in order to support poor ladakhy children to have access to eductaion and so far 15 children are now fully registered in local schools. We can understand your frustrations, but please come again and you’ll see the good work we are trying to do everyday. Julley. Konchok Guylsan and family

The guest house feels almost like a home stay. the family is very friendly and welcoming. They offer a very nice private double room at the front of the house. From there it is easy to walk to the beautiful monastery of Lamayuru.

"The corner room on the first floor has a stunning view. Another comment: small portable Solar panels can be useful as electricity is limited"
"Take the attached bath room, Since the cleanliness in the common bathroom is not up to the mark"
