Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely hotel beautifully situated on the northern shore of Lake Traunsee. It is easily accessed by train and tram. Parking is available but there is a charge. Rooms vary in size but ours were bright, modern and with lovely lake views. The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant serves lunches and dinners which were also very good. In warm weather the terrace bordering the lake is open. It is a good place from which to explore the locality by public transport.

I've been there for 2 nights. location excellent. lake view excellent too. the problem lies in the quality. when we checked in, the staff gave us the keys and asked us to complete the form. that's all. to her, check in was just so simple and she can't figure out what else she needs to tell us. so, I need to ask for wifi password, breakfast time, check out time, and if fan is available. she said yes, if we need. she suggested us to go to the room and check if we needed first. we called back soon and asked for a fan. she said yes but no one came. we asked again when we went out for dinner. they said yes again and they will bring it to our room when they are not so busy. we are back at 9pm and nothing happens. this time, the staff at the reception told us they didn't have fan at all and we were the first guest who asked for it ! she said in Austria hotels, they will not need fan nor air conditioning. I challenged her by telling her that I was in Austria for 1 week before I came here, and in all hotels I lived, either fan or air conditioning was available in the room. we also requested a kettle. they gave us one which was the dirtiest I have ever seen. there is dead bodies of insects inside, while the filter of it was blocked with brown pieces of dust. when I tried to clean it up, the out coming water was brown in color some of the facilities there were also ware out. the door to the balcony can't close up completely, and I can see nests of spraders in my room lastly, the sound proof is poor. we can even hear the sounds of television and human voices from our next room !

Great classic Hotel right in the centre of Gmunden. Big well equipped rooms, nice furniture and lovable Details.... As it is in the centre of Gmunden, many events are taking place just infront of the Hotel endig towards 1-2h in the morning. No sleep..... Reception is very helpful, in case you are lucky enough to meet them....

Hotel placed on the square of Gmunden with fabulous views to the lake Traunsee. Nice and quiet room (without balcony) with new equipment and comfortable bed. Reception with helpful stuff and breakfast ok. Good to ask for room with position to lake.

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed rooms that had balconies facing the lake. The rooms were large and comfortable and there was a nice seating area on the balcony. The WiFi was ok and we didn’t seem to have any issues with it. The Breakfast was good with plenty of cereals, breads, meats and cheeses, as well as a limited selection of hot food. We also ate in the restaurant which was very good and clearly popular with the locals. There are plenty of Austrian and International dishes to choose from. The menu is posted on the hotel’s website. They don’t appear to have a luggage room as when we asked them to store our suitcases for a few hours, they just put them next to the reception desk which wasn’t attended all of the time. This hotel is definitely a good choice for a stay in Gmunden.

Love the hotel, staff and views of Traunsee lame. What I didn't love was the fact that I had no wifi in my room 105. I asked twice and was told the first time it would be fixed, the second time 'it is impossible that it doesn't work. Well, it didn't.

Great location for touring. The rooms were nice with great view of Traunsee and the mountains and well equipped. There was no air condition in the rooms. The free parking was limited. It may be quite noisy Friday or Saturday overnight.

Nice hotel in the center of town. I got a nice big quit room with beautiful view of Traunsee and the mountains in the background. Lovely newly decorated bathroom. Good and cozy restaurant and a very good breakfast buffet. My only appeal was the bed - some kind of water bed. I did not sleep very well.

When we first arrived and I was walking through the corridor to the rooms, I thought these room doors look like commercial refrigerator doors...this is wierd. The carpet didn't seem to fit the motif, halls went off in different directions... But, when I opened the door to our room, I was amazed. It was HUGE, faced the lake, had a bedroom alcove in addition to a living room, a balcony with chairs to enjoy the view...it was a bit dated, but well maintained. I doubt all the rooms fit this description, but if you can get one overlooking the lake, enjoy it! The location on the lake, and near the town center was ideal. You could walk everywhere. Breakfast was generous and beautifully displayed. Wifi was good. A very nice, but much too short visit to an absolutely beautiful place in Austria.

The Seehotel Schwam in Gmunden is a very comfortable and very well presented Hotel right on the Traunsee and offers you stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The maximum depth of the lake is 191 metres and its surface area is approximately 24.5 km². The Traunsee cruises leave from here and it is about a 15 minutes walk to the gondola to the Günberg which is 984 metres above sea-level. The room was comfortable and there was a table for my computer with free Wi Fi. Car parking is on the side of the hotel. The Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner, the food is very good. When you are looking for a room with a view we would recommend the Seehotel Schwam in Gmunden. Margaret and Klaus
