Monti Azzurri is at the center of Montemonaco. Its location is very good for hiking, trekking, and climbing the Sibillini Mountains (Monti Sibillini). The owner showed us a nice route for half a day trekking. (We had no mountain -climbing equipment.) For those unfamiliar with this part of Italy, the scenery is stunning. Immaculately tended fields and woodland, beautiful views, charming hilltop towns with stunning architecture, and friendly welcoming people. What a lovely hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The meal was fabulous. With breat taking views out front and a very pretty town to wonder around, we thought immediately we would stay 3 nights at least. But it was the weekend so no luck. We stayed at the local camping in july while trekking in the area. Very soon we discovered that the food at the restaurant here was delicious and plentiful, so we actually dined every night for 4 or 5 nights. Most of the food is of local origin, and we even had the pleasure of tasting black truffles in an omelette....
