It's mid November and we are taking the Flam Railway from Flam to Myrdal. It had been recommended to stop at Vatnahalsen for the 2 hours between trains rather than being stuck in Myrdal for that time waiting for our connection to Oslo. Well what a fantastic place, we arrived to 30cm of fresh powder, the trees were covered the...

We didn't really stay here but hanged out for a couple of hours in the sitting area. It was suggested that we hop off the railway station earlier as there isn't much to hang around for at Myrdal for. It was a brilliant suggestion! There's coffee, tea, cakes and muffins while we thaw ourselves out in the lovely atmosphere. Staffs...

This hotel is located in a breathtaking location. It takes around 30 seconds to walk from the station to the hotel. The Flam Railway was not running when we arrived and we received a phone call from the hotel offering to pick us up from the station. It is a family run hotel and the staff are so friendly and...

This hotel is located one train stop below Myrdal in a stunning location. The thing that strikes you the most is the silence (other than the occasional hiker/biker/train) and the muted roar of the waterfalls. It is very peaceful here! The illumination of the hills by either the sunlight or the moonlight was beautiful. The hotel was quaint with some...

We had a wonderful experience here. We arrived by train from the cruise ship and were treated to wonderful waffles and coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would loved to have stayed longer. Didnt realise they had a gift shop - I would have had a good spend up. We hiked back down towards Flaam. The scenery is magnificent. Itsa...

We stayed here for one night on our Oslo to Bergen train journey as part of Norway in a Nutshell. Do not expect five star or modern luxury. This is an old fashioned mountain resort with amazing views, good food, the nicest staff you'll ever meet and great free wifi. The furnishings are quaint, the rooms are clean and the...

Spent 2 nights at Vatnahalsen in late Aug. while doing our own "Norway in a nutshell" trip. (Hotel is on the Flamsbana line, just below Myrdal). Had a large double bed room with private bath and view out the back - mountains, forests, lake and great waterfall! Spectacular scenery! Common area rooms were lovely and also had wonderful views. Friendly...

Unfortunately we did not stay in the accommodation at Vatnahalsen Hoyfjellshotell. We would have love to stay longer but our stay was merely for morning tea which was delicious and arguably the best Norwegian coffee I had tasted. The views over the valley were from every corner of the property and the photo opportunities aplenty.

We were fortunate to spend 2 nights at Vatnahalsen in July with our 2 children. We were in a family room with double bedroom connected to bunkbed room. While the rooms did not have the most up to date decor, they did have beautiful views. There were also lovely communal rooms including that on the top floor with 360 degree...

We travelled on The Flamsbana Railroad to get to the hotel on a cruise ship excursion. We visited the hotel for waffles with jam & cream and coffee.
