Lovely service and breakfast in this charming boutique hotel/B&B in the town of Alcobaca. The main building is a beautifully restored old home with period furniture and touches. There is also a modern building adjacent, which is where we stayed. Our room and bathroom were both very spacious, but the layout of both was a little odd, and lacked the coziness and charm that I imagine you'll find in the old building. For instance, the bedroom had a queen rather than a king bed, and an old-fashioned "fainting couch" which looks pretty but isn't practical. There was tons of room for a king bed and a couple really comfortable chairs. And the marble bathroom - the largest I've seen - had a spa tub that you had to climb up to, but no separate shower, though again, there was tons of room for it. Breakfast was wonderful, served in the older building, and service was awesome - very helpful suggestions for one of the best dinners we had in Portugal. Easy walking to downtown restaurants and the nearby monastery. Great location for exploring other sights like Obidos and Nazarre.

A beautifully presented chalet that has been tastefully decorated with period furniture. Close to the monastery (5 min stroll) & centre of town. The staff were attentive & very helpful. The downstairs honesty bar was great fun to use. The bedroom was spacious, clean & beautifully decorated. The full bathroom was very functional with plenty of room. The breakfast was tasty & well presented. Car parking on site was also appreciated. Highly recommended.

Charming property, nice gardens, quiet area, in easy walking distance to town centre. Extremely helpful, friendly and well-informed staff, offering lots of advice on possible activities or places to visit. Superb breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads, egg, cheeses, meats, freshly-baked pastries and coffee/tea. Can only recommend it.

Our experience was absolutely phenomenal. We were greeted by Maria as soon as we parked our car ( yes! parking is on the property, easy and free). Maria is a wonderful host and very charming person. She is local and knows bests in and out for the tourists in the area. The building has an elevator, big plus. Our room was impeccably clean and we had a good rest before departing to the next stop. Breakfast is very good, served downstairs and everything is fresh and tasty. The hotel is a very nice remodeled Chalet. We loved absolutely everything: the location, our room, small garden, breakfast and, of course, Maria. Maria called and scheduled next morning massage with a very talented professional . My legs were very tired after trip to Sintra and I was back to normal after an hour of the massage. We are going back to Alcobaca and Maria's Chalet on our next trip to Portugal. There is more to explore in the area!

Once you step inside Challet Fonte Nova you feel transported to bygone times. The furnishings and ambience are stylish,on trend and calming. No dark wood here, its light, airy and refreshingly different. Our room was spacious, and the shower divine. Breakfast was a real treat. The delights served such as their own freshly sqeezed juices and delicous jams added to the luxury experience . We would highly recommend Challet Fonte Nova, plus its only a few minutes walk into the centre of Alcobaca where you can find a great selection of restaurants.

I stayed here for a business trip and it was really great. The building has a lot of history but it nicely renovated and preserves the old with the new needed. I was one of the only visitors and they made.a nice breakfast, customised it for me. Great produce and local fresh fruits! I would recommend this for any trip to Alcobaca!

I stayed at Challet Fonte Nova with a group of friends and we all got the feeling that we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Starting from the instant comfort you feel as soon as you get into the house, it was late at night when we arrived and quite chilled outside, but as soon as we got into the house it was warm and very very comfortable. The high ceilings, the furniture, the decoration was overwhelming. But the best was yet to come. The absolutely beautiful, comfortable and spacious rooms together with the quietness were the perfect conditions to a great night sleep. In the morning we were, again, surprised by the quality and diversity of everything in the breakfast. Definitely a place I highly recommend and hope to visit again.

This is a greatly preserved city house, with the elegance and glamour of another century and today’s comfort. The common areas (Library, living room, etc.) are all decorated with the luxury and elegance, but with comfortable sofas, chairs, nice games tables and beautiful fresh flowers and delicious details. There is also a billiard/snooker table and a bar in the “cave”, a perfect excuse for some fun time with friends or in family. The rooms are spacious, decorated in epoch’s style without compromising the modern comfort: white beautiful embroider linen, good mattresses, hair dryer and toiletries from Castell-Bell a high-end traditional Portuguese soap brand. The breakfast is served in a beautiful room, with porcelain and crystal glasses, fresh fruit juices, home baked sweets, delicious bread and home-made preserves, but also the eggs, yogurt, fruits, ham, cheese, expresso coffee…reserve some time to indulge yourself! The surrounding gardens are a good compromise between nature driven & human maintenance space, where you can enjoy the sound of birds and a small creek, the trees and luxurious green bushes. There is a Spa where you can enjoy a relaxing massage, if reserved with some time in advance. And there is the host and the staff welcome, elegant, discrete and efficient way to receive you and make you feel at home! It was a great stay and no doubts we will return!

We arrived after a long drive to this beautiful property. You can’t see it as you approach so you doubt your GPS, but once you arrive you are greeted with the beautiful facade. There is ample parking. We were greeted and shown to our room on the 1st floor. The lady who showed us around was so friendly and welcoming, and her pride for the property shone through. We had dinner at the places she recommended on both nights - easy walking distance and excellent. Breakfast was a beautiful spread but we did miss our omelettes. The coffee was excellent. Our room was large with a comfortable bed, and a large bathroom. We are used to more modern decor but booked this hotel for something different - and it is far more antique. We had a small balcony which was cute. We used the hotel as a base to explore obidos, tomar, nazare etc and it was excellent for this. We did not make use of the honesty bar or the spa. I would definitely stay again.

We stayed three nights at this wonderful boutique hotel. The setting was peaceful. The room was very clean and the linens excellent quality. Breakfast was ample. The town is smaller and is a great hub for excursion to nearby sites.
