Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Maybe this is a hopping place in peak season but in Spring, not so much. Rooms are fine, clean comfortable. Men and women must purchase a rubber swimming cap to wear in the pools (?!). The property is spacious with good parking. Families with kids would do well here with the pools and room to roam. The restaurant and bar were never open. Breakfast is fine but a huge spread for not many guests. We came from the city to the country for peace and quiet. Now the dogs….. We were serenaded from 10pm to 4 AM by loud, dogs just next door, barking incessantly but with brief pauses that made you think they were done barking. We could not sleep. Internet was intermittent and could not seem to be fixed even though the wireless access point was right outside our room. It is a beautiful if impractical spot for tourist business and probably best suited for conferences or Spa customers. Staff was very nice, very helpful and listened attentively but did not fix the problems with the internet and reassured us that dogs are very popular in Portugal and barking day and night was expected.

My stay in Real Abadia was amazing! I like the location, beautiful big room with all essentials, the room had pool view and spaciousness. The hotel has spa ( sauna, Turkish bath, 2 pools - indoor and outdoor). Hotel staff were friendly and nice. I recommend the place to rest, enjoy fresh air and nature! Thank you , Bjs

Alcobaca is definitely worth a visit. It is a beautiful historic town with some lovely restaurants. This hotel has some good points but also some negatives. Good: - Great scenery (I've included a sunset oicture from my balcony) - Nice spa - Relaxing mid-week - Friendly and attentive staff Bad: - Food options are limited at the hotel and not the best quality - At the weekend, it becomes a noisy family retreat with lots of children (great if you are looking for a family friendly spa weekend, not great if you are looking for a quiet couples retreat) I don't regret staying here, I enjoyed Alcobaca and had a nice time overall.

Beatiful scenaries with a high quality infra-structure to have a good relaxing time. The Spa is very decent and the people very professional and talented. If you search for a time-off this is the perfect place to do it!

Very poor breakfast. They did not have the restaurant running on a Saturday!! Very expensive for the services provided... Outdoor pool is good! Inside pool (in SPA) is beautiful. I will not go back to this hotel!

It's a great hotel located in a bucolic landscape, with quietness and relaxation in generous amounts. Also with good connections to Alcobaça, Aljubarrota or the historic landmark Mosteiro da Batalha. It has a good exterior swimming pool and an excellent interior pool. Good breakfast offer. I stayed in one of the suites with my wife and son, and we all loved it. The only down side, the restaurant, there was a problem with a cooker, but since this was my second time, I had the opportunity to lunch and dinner at the restaurant and it had a great food and wine offer.

Great place, no longer from beaches and the stone district. Very relaxing hotel, nice rooms and great view from the room in the morning. Breakfast is good, coffee and good cakes. There is also a nice swimming pool and a spa that haven’t tried, hope next trip!

Hotel & Room First arived at the hotel (and all following days) staff was not friendly, poorly responding to questions and communication. The AC in the room was shutting down every hour and to have it turned on again we had to call the reception (during five days of stay). The comfort level and the facilities of the hotel do not correspond with the description: the spa and wellness facilities are poor and basic (one small indoor pool, very small sauna and steam room (for two people) - not properly at tempreture. No designated area for children, and as this hotel is advertised as children friendly, there was no quite area for relaxation and wellness. The outdoor pool in not large either, and due to lack of wind protection and heating (hotel is located high in the mountains), was bearly used by us and other guests. Restaurant Breakfast was served at inconvenient times for people on holidays (07:30-10:00) and was standard / basic, slightly disappointing for a hotel aiming to be a luxury resort: no fresh juice (packages of juice were standing at the buffet). Small buffet area that became crowded very fast later in the morning. For dinner at the hotel restaurant reservation was required (at the convinient time for the staff) and food served was not good - pre-ready meals as main course. The overall impression of the hotel is : unprofessional behavior of the staff, not friendly and mainly occupied with the computers and not with the guests, poor facilities for relaxation and spa. Hotel is not welcoming for a long stay for relaxation. Iron service is not available during weekends (!) and you will be charged for it! Parking facilities are good as well as the view from the balcony.

We've spent a night in this hotel passing by from Lisbon to Coimbra. This hotel has an excellent location. It has some great features like wellness and outside/inside pool. We loved the accomodation. WIFI is good! The rooms are nice and modern with a small personal touch. It has a balcony, and a good bathroom with al we wanted concerning comfort. Breakfast was perfect. All you need and nice place to have it too. On thing (detail): at the reception it's somewhat like a little shop with al kinds of stuff (leaflets, etc) spread over the desk. Some less of these would give a neater look.

This is a middle-range establishment in a rural location, two kilometres from Alcobaça. It´s a contemporary building but full of traditional details in its architecture providing a cosy atmosphere. The rooms have a regular size but not huge, having good beds covered by the coloured piece of cloth typical of this town called chita. The surroundings of this hotel are rural and very quiet, ideal to relax. This establishment is equipped with a nice summer swimming-pool facing the green hills, but I didn´t use it as the weather conditions weren´t very good during my stay. The fare included free accesss to the spa, which was nice but rather small. Of course, there is a heated swimming pool -with a jet-, a sauna and a turkish bath as well as the usual things: sunloungers, a table with drinks... you can spend a nice time relaxing there, but I would not say that is so outstanding to spend some days there just for it, as the facilities are a bit small. Additionally, you can book massages and treatments. Breakfast is also OK, served in the nice dinning room at the ground floor. Warm and helpful staff. Good prices.
