End of May 2016 we visited Derawan Island for 2 nights. We (I, my wife and my daughter) stayed in Reza and Dira homestay. One word to book this hotel, please use email and send it to darjohnturtle@gmail.com but also try to contact him on his phone +62 813 47955950 several times. Even until one day prior to your arrival,... More

We staid 3 nights at Reza in a beautiful Cottage over the Sea. You do not need AC or fan as you can just open the windows and let the seabreeze in! The Cottages are very clean and have 2 terraces. However, if you want to dive, best dive with Derawan Dive Lodge & Tasik Divers. They are very professional... More

We spend 6 nights at Reza & Dira and I absolutely loved the cottage, it was very clean and comfortable with a nice terrace, every morning we got a small breakfast and you get a thermos with hot water every day to make you're own coffee or tea, the view is great and you can see the turtles swimming from... If you want a luxurious services, this cottage definitely not suitable. This is great bungalow, you can jump to water straight from your room and swim with the turtles. Enjoy the bridge in front of your room with your friends while you look the sunrise/sunset or even star and enjoy your beer. Don't worry with the bathroom, they didn't drain... More

no need for "special" o "4 star accomodation" in Derawan: all you need is a nice and clean bungalow, right on the see (you can jump in the water straight from it), sit and have breakfast looking at the turtles which each day come by, so close. Just swim with them and take your time. A wonderful place to spend... More

I almost didn't go with Reza Cottages based on some of the reviews here. I am so glad I did. This was one of my best holidays. The cottages are clean, tidy and air conditioned (but the sea breezes meant you often didn't need it). Yes the shower and hand basin drain into the sea, but that's it. If you're... More

We checked out all the other places on the island and found this place the nicest. The peer where the bungalows are built on is right above the place where the sea turtles nest. If you jump off the peer you can directly swim with the sea turtles. Breakfast is small- 2 doughnuts but hey it's better than nasi goreng... More

So sad that we listened to the positive reviews and wasted our holiday time and money on this dissappointing homestay... It was just disguisting to see all the waste from the bathroom to go straight into the water... had to go all the way to the other side of the island for swimming... And the attitude from ''John'' or whatever... More

Ok, so I will start by saying that when we arrived, we were so dissapointed that we wanted to look for another place, but since it was getting dark and we were too tired, we decided to stay and look no further. That was the first mistake. Shoud have moved out. 1. Getting there. DO NOT, I want to emphasise,... More

“All bungalows are great, but ours had the privilege of not having any direct neighbours (same price). Only downside to the room was that they installed an A/C instead of a fan. The A/C makes a hell of a noise in this wooden bungalow and doesn't cool it much, since it leaks on all sides. Keeping both doors open at night before you go to sleep is a better thing to do than turning on the A/C.”
