Where do I even begin? There are not enough words to thank everyone enough at Fanhams for ensuring our wedding day was perfect in every way. The staff were absolutely incredible and our day ran so smoothly. All of our guests couldn't stop complimenting the venue, from the beautiful grounds to the friendly staff and the delicious food. Everyone we spoke to told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to!

From the moment we first viewed Fanhams Hall, we fell in love with it. We absolutely loved the stunning great hall and long gallery. Symphonie first showed us around and from that moment she was there for us all the way through the planning process and up until the day before the wedding, she was amazing. Symphonie was so lovely and supportive, always on hand to answer any questions and offer advice. An absolute credit to Fanhams wedding team!

The week before the wedding, we met Rachel, our function manager for the day. She went through every little detail with us and ensured that everything was in order for our big day and that we had no worries or concerns. We just want to say the biggest thank you to Rachel, she worked so hard all day to ensure our wedding day was everything we wanted it to be and she just made our day run so smoothly. Fanhams are so lucky to have Rachel, she's an absolute star! So many people have commented on how amazing she was, she really couldn't do enough for us throughout the whole day and ensured that everyone was happy and having the best time.
Also, a big shout out to Florin who was also amazing on our day, we first met Florin at our menu tasting and he was so friendly. He worked alongside Rachel on our special day to ensure that everyone was where they should be and doing what they should be doing! You were both just incredible.

We attended a wedding menu tasting in the months leading up to the wedding where we got to sample some of the delicious canapes and dishes, we then selected our choices for the wedding day. The food on our day did not disappoint and everybody absolutely loved it, from the selection of canapes to the wedding breakfast meal. The staff were very attentive and served the food quickly. Fanhams were very accommodating for our guests with dietary requirements, and these guests were extremely pleased with how well they were catered for.
The evening 'fish and chip shop' buffet was also delicious (so we've been told, neither of us actually had any as we were too busy partying)!

On the night of our wedding we stayed in the Chestnut suite, the most beautiful room with absolutely stunning views. It was so spacious with lots of facilities, the bed was soo comfy and the bathroom was amazing. My only negative comment is that we didn't get to stay in there long enough to make the most of it!

There is so much more we could say about this incredible venue and their staff, but we would honestly be here all day. So, we would just like to say thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts for helping to make our day as perfect as it was. We really did have the best day of our lives, it was everything we had dreamed of and more!

Mr & Mrs Griffin

We booked a Cool room as the description and pictures made it seem relatively spacious with a couple of comfortable chairs. The room we were allocated in the courtyard was not as described, it was small, about 2.5 m by 3.5, no comfortable chairs, only a desk chair. What space there was was taken up by the wardrobe. The bed was comfortable and although the shower room was small the rainwater shower was good and positioned so that it did not flood the floor. The window opened and provided adequate ventilation but no air conditioner, only a fan in the wardrobe and it did get stuffy.

Dinner in the bar was very good and the staff were very good, would have been nicer to eat in the other areas but COVID meant there were limited spaces. Breakfast was good, and again the service was excellent.

The room was on the second floor, no lift in the courtyard building and some visitors would find access difficult. I would expect this to be mentioned in the hotel details.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review of your recent stay at Fanhams Hall. I am disappointed you found the room allocated not to your liking and a little small, most of our bedrooms are unique in terms of layout and size so it is regretful you didn't highlight this to my Guest Services Team as we would always do our best to offer an alternative for you. I was delighted to read you enjoyed both dinner and breakfast and thank you for acknowledging the excellent service you received at these times. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

We spent one night here in early February and had a brilliant time. Every member of staff we met (reception, bar and at breakfast) were really friendly and none of that fake enthusiasm you sometimes get from burnt out staff at other hotels. We moved rooms a few times at the beginning as we were after a bath, so I can confirm (predictably) that in the main house the rooms have a bit more character but in the courtyard they have a bit more space. All rooms however were really clean and well presented. The grounds are great even now, but must be stunning in the summer and definitely well worth the short walk if you get a chance when you are there.
There isn’t a restaurant at night, but bar food is available which was okay. If you want a bit more choice just go for a short drive and there are loads of restaurants nearby in Ware.
I don’t think they were particularly busy the night we stayed, but our room was near a main door and I heard no noise all night. The surrounding area is rural so really quiet outside too.
If we are ever back in the area we would definitely stay another night.

Came for a family gathering with 10+ guests staying a night with a private room for dinner. When we arrived in the 24° heat we wanted to sit outside and have a drink. The whole hotel with 80 rooms has 5, yes only FIVE tables outside! The staff ( a senior/ manager specifically ) was not really helpful and just arrogantly said this is how they have always been set up and refused to do anything about it.

There are 4 or so indoor sofas where you have to go to have your drink instead ( if those aren't full too on a busy day). The food was pretty good and alcohol selection was vast. The rooms facing the carpark which still cost £150 per night have a view on par with a holiday inn and are very small. The rooms are not air conditioned but do come with a small fan should it be warm.

At breakfast the staff plated food for you that you select from the buffet due to COVID. The staff ( I'm guessing the restaurant manager by the suit in comparison to the rest of the staff in a shirt and black trousers) decided the plates were coming out too hot, so midway through him plating my food he put it down on the counter and requested cooler plates from the kitchen. When he returned with cooler plates he asked the guest behind me in the queue what they would like and served 2 more guests whilst my food sat on the side getting cold, which he suddenly remembered and finished dishing up the rest of the food. ( Hardened cold eggs at this point ).

The women at our family dinner however were fantastic.

There are more minor things which I experienced during my stay which really took away from the beautiful experience this fantastic building and impressive grounds have to offer. The setting is superb and with correct management this could be a wonderful hotel. I would say that for a 4 star hotel the service and staff needs improving. Here are some images from our room which weren’t great either such as missing bulb and only one shower sprayer working properly.

I am disappointed that you did not fully enjoy your time with us and had some service issues during your stay. Please be assured that this is not the service that we would like our guests to experience. I am sorry you weren't able to find any available outdoor seating and that the person you highlighted this too wasn't more forthcoming. I'm happy to report this has been addressed and more outdoor seating added. I am sorry for what would've been just a small oversight during breakfast. But I am very happy you found the staff member who served your family dinner to be fantastic I do hope that we will have an opportunity to welcome you back to Fanhams Hall.

We booked Fanhams Hall on a recommendation for a few days mid-week recently. There was a group of us and we also booked some meeting rooms.
The Accomodation was very clean and what you would expect with some great grounds where you could run / walk around, although with the short days this was difficult to really take advantage of.
The food was surprisingly good and our service agent for the days we were there was Luke. This guy was great and went out of his way to assist us, making the stay very comfortable.
The place looked like a really sophisticated wedding venue as well as catering for our team.
We would recommend and come back too.

We stayed one night in a classic room within the main house.
The house itself is fantastic. A real period home with all the details you would expect. It was great to be able to read up on all the history with a sheet provided by Reception. A member of staff kindly showed us round, the great hall, library etc and the modern addition which included a bar area and wonderful breakfast room which takes in the great view of the surrounding gardens.
Our room also had a wonderful view of the Queen Anne garden. We felt the room, whilst having period features, was dated and the bed was squashed into the corner of the room, behind the door. There was no space for bedside tables or lamps. A headboard and sockets were also missing. Having to use the central and only light did mean that the room lacked warmth which was a shame.
The food at dinner and breakfast was fine.
The service given by all staff was first class esp Nicole at breakfast who worked really hard and with great friendliness. The hotel can be rightly proud of all its team members.
Before we left we had a wonderful stroll around the gardens (again a map was provided).
Overall our overnight stop was great value for money and we recommend it to others. The hotel also took its Covid measures very seriously which was good to see.

If you’ve stayed in other Exclusive hotels, don’t expect this to be of the same standard. I’ve stayed at Pennyhill Park, South Lodge and The Manor House. They are in the top 5 nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. This one, not-so-much, I’m thinking I may have preferred the Marriott up the road.

We upgraded from to a classic double as we are only here one night and arriving late. All I can say is I’m glad we didn’t book the ‘cosy’ room as I’m claustrophobic and the classic was small enough. We only had an overnight bag but if you had a suitcase you may well be stepping over it.

They don’t offer the typical toiletries of nicer hotels. As the only shower is a large overhead rain shower (nice), for a person wanting to shower without wetting their hair, you’d expect a shower cap. They provided one when I asked about it, I had to collect it from reception in another building.

No room service. Haven’t looked around. The venue itself may be lovely and perfect for weddings but don’t expect an ‘exclusive’ hotel room. This is more Premier Inn with better decor and smaller rooms.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review following your recent stay with us at Fanhams Hall. I am disappointed your stay did not meet your expectations. Fanhams Hall is part of Exclusive which is a collection of hotels and spas, a golf club, cookery school and a pub. Whilst each property share in the same core values we are also uniquely individual at the same time. I do hope to welcome you back to Fanhams Hall in the future and kindly suggest perhaps one of our suites is a more suitable room choice as this would be a closer bedroom comparison to the other Exclusive Collection Hotels you have experienced.

Chose this hotel to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. On Booking.com our room had been upgraded for free to a classic room which we found very small, however soft furnishing was very tasteful and the bed very comfortable. The evening meal was delicious as was the breakfast (included in the deal). The grounds of the hotel are vast and beautifully maintained

We were attending a wedding at this spectacular venue. Food that was of a very high quality. The drinks from the bar were paid by card as it is a cashless venue. The sumptuous grounds and manicured lawns all add to the ambiance of a special location. Our room was conveniently located on the ground floor across the courtyard, clean towels and washing products all supplied.

Me and my now wife had our wedding here on the 31st of July 2022.
From the very beginning the staff couldn't have been anymore helpful.

Justice was our wedding planner for the day, from initially showing us the venue, booking menu tastings and collecting the last minute details, Justice was so attentive and always available. Nothing was a problem and there was always a solution. The planning and organising side made it smooth sailing.

We were shown an extensive menu to pick from, which we could choose selections to try at a menu tasting as we went with a wedding package. There was lots of options, and friends and family who had dietary requirements did not miss out, rather had meals we had chosen changed slightly to accommodate or a beautiful alternative arranged. Maybe it was the broad selection of wines we tried, or the beautiful surroundings but we had a good day.

We were very nervous the week of the wedding, hoping everything would come together. However after meeting Florin (our function manager) every single worry we had was gone.
Florin ran through the whole day with us explaining how he works and what would happen, walking us around the venue, answering every question we had.

Then the day came, we were able to access the venue early and set up, all the staff where very helpful and any additional requests where no problem.
Florin after finishing 3am that morning with another wedding was on hand as soon as he arrived, making sure everyone was happy and logistically everyone was in the right place at the right time.
Florin was our literal knight in shining armour the whole day, we cannot express how much he made everyone feel so welcome and ensured everyone had a great time. The food service was quick excellent and nobody waited or went hungry the whole day.

At no point did it feel like there was dead time in the day when people were just waiting. It definitely helps the gardens and grounds at Fanhams Hall are well kept and stunning.

The bridal suite is so extravagant and made us feel special. Florin moved our items from the dressing rooms to the suite and made sure we only had to worry about enjoying ourselves the whole day.

Honestly it was the best day of our lives, and a lot of that is down to beautiful setting and amazing staff. If you are getting married make sure Florin is working that day because you will have a perfect day.

It's been a little while since we actually stayed at the hotel but I remember that there was plenty of choice for vegetarians. You could also preorder a special breakfast when you checked in. They couldn't have been more helpful. I'm sure the level of service is still the same. We had Sunday lunch at Fanhams again on 16th July and it was fantastic as always. So much choice on the starter tables for vegetarians and the dessert table is amazing. Plus, unusually for a carvery, fish was an option if you didn't want beef, pork or chicken. It's still one of our favourite places for Sunday lunch. We enjoy going there so much we have already booked a room for New Years Eve.
