I have been visiting this park for over 20 years and have recommended it to many of my family & friends who then visited. Myself & my husband booked for 2 weeks beginning of June, like we have done for several years. The Seahores didn't work for us with no entertainment. We went in for food and drink in the first week and there was more staff than customers. We came home a week early due to boardem. We are due to go back again in August and to be honest I'm not looking forward to it. I don't understand why the changes have been made. The quote is if its not broken don't fix it.
Delighted with our Gold caravan in The Willows area. At the back of the park and very quiet which we wanted. Pubs behind us in the village so had a bit of music in the evenings lol. Everything A1 on the park except the wifi situation. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the end of the world if u don’t have wifi but I have an autistic son who has his iPad wherever he goes to calm him. He has a cellular iPad with his own mobile data. This wouldn’t work so tried the free wifi on site for 30 minutes...perfect....yet when you pay £12 for 5 days ...nothing......very misleading and unfair. Tried the free wifi on all our phones etc, works, yet when you pay...nothing..,,obviously an issue for my son. We managed of course but it spoilt our stay and don’t like being conned.
On arrival seemed a lovely place . However we chose this site for our daughter as it advertised childerens entertainment . We went into see horse and asked the bar staff and they said its all been done out due to owner having 3 heart attacks so he did away with it .!! . However 7 momth we had this booked ! They didn't even have decency to tell us so we could have gone else were!! I did email and shes told me to send proof but of course they have updated their webisite ! Scamming 4 year old.with no entertainment is boring for her and we booked it because of that and was let down !! . The beach was like grit ! And had all toilet roll washed up on it with a sewerage leaking ! Disgusting didn't even get cleaned up ! . Over all dissatisfied and would tell any 1 who's going with children to not go here ! . Amusement are all rigged ! Worste I've ever seen or used . And the things you can get with tickets are things from poundland. I put 3 pound in the 2p slots and won 16pence back ! Never known a 2 pence machine to be that bad ! . I will try look thro my emails to see if I can find any thing as there not willing to own up to it ! But their staff say otherwise…
Just returned from our 2nd stay. We stay on a touring pitch, first time was out of season and poor weather though we were very pleased with the Sunday roast and bar service. This time we obviously had great weather and saw Pentewan at its best. Such a great place. All pitches are grass and include awning. Very busy but surprisingly quiet. Beautiful white sands and private beach. Site is large and we had regular walks, some people were cycling or jogging. Decent sized cod at the chippy for £6.50. All very clean, shower blocks cleaned x4 a day. All staff helpful and friendly. Local pub is situated in easy walk and serve meals inside or out. Only downside is no tv or phone signal. I can live without and DVDs work fine. You can pay for internet. Really enjoyed it and will book again.…
I didn't have very high expectations staying in a bronze plus caravan but the standard was brilliant. Very clean and comfortable. I was especially relieved about the beds and pillows, I was expecting these to be more old and tired in the older caravans but was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The Willows area was recommended upon booking as a nice area to choose and I completely agree, the cul-de-sac area is much more secluded and picturesque with palm trees and green areas. The other areas have the sea view but they're more exposed. The distance from the beach is so minimal, unless you're in a tent right on the beach front it really doesn't make much of a difference. The ship Inn is an 'old mans pub' but friendly staff. We didn't eat there though. The swimming pool was brilliant out of the school holidays. Small changing rooms but the pool was perfect for what we needed. The issue with temperature in older reviews has obviously been corrected - I wasn't worried at all for my 8month old and it got no complaints from my 3yr old. I think it was around 30c. There's a more adult pool shaped for lane swimming, the main pool has 2 slides and a baby area/splash zone that's about 1ft deep. We left at the start of the half term holiday though and the changeover day was very crowded. I'm not sure the pool would have been such a good experience in the peak season. My husband and his friends highly rated the Seahorse restaurant, with great service, good views, good pizza and crisp beers. I've read in older reviews that people complained about the lack of entertainment but I'd just like to say I think this is a great move. We came out of season so nothing was set up in the yurt yet but we didn't miss it and I feel it raises the bar for the resort to allow it to accommodate families, groups and couples alike. Not everyone likes that kind of thing, even people with kids! Overall I was really happy with our choice of resort and would gladly come again next year!…
Spent the week here camping (30th May - 03rd June, Great site, big pitches, and the shower block cleaned regulary, Beach is amazing and an easy walk from the Tent, thats where the praise stops. The Wifi is very expensive and is absolute rubbish, no signal and when you do get a signal its very slow. There is now no entertainment onsite, the Bar is now an overpriced resturant, food is average, and staff seem to be rushed no personal touchs. Onsite Chippy is not the good at all, very expensive, £3.00 for a Sausage come on !! Onsite shop is ok as you can imagine expensive, has an in shop snack bar, always empty, or in the oven be 15 mins. We have been to this site 3 or 4 times, this is the first time since all the changes, in my opion not a good change for the better, I am guessing management have made the change for their pockets, less staff needed, bigger profits. We will be looking elsewhere for our next family camping trip, which is a shame as we have some great happy memories from Pentewan sands in the past.…
We had the best week. Lovely clean site with facilities cleaned regularly. Lots of showers a laundry room with free use of irons and motorhome scattered for. Beautiful beach straight from the park. Helpful friendly staff and on site shop was reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again.
We have just returned from a one week caravan holiday . We stayed here last year and had an amazing time and we keen to go during the jubilee week as we felt it would be a great place to celebrate. Being honest, we were totally let down . While the whole of the U.K. where having a party there was zero fun , events or anything to do on an evening what so ever . Check in was well organised until one of the female gardeners rudely decided to tell us to move one and “you can’t park there !” The site is still an amazing location and well kept but there is now nothing to do . The club house is now like a motorway services , no music , dividing screens and basic food menu . There is no one in the new restaurant We were told no table service , you have to go to the bar . Very difficult when 5 people are doing nothing . Every night we were in our caravan watching Britons got talent and early to bed . The place now lacks any atmosphere, and is no where else to go locally . We did go to thr Hub Box twice but the 2nd visit was a disaster. Even if it wasn’t a jubilee week , if it rains there is no where to go . We are not the only people who feel like this as previous reviews have said . I would hope that the owners rethink there strategy as in my opinion it’s a disaster.…
We have just spent 2 weeks (7-21 May) at Pentewan in a touring caravan pitched on C which purports to have a sea view, that is out of your van straight onto the beach and the sea in front. That’s no longer the case. You sit in your chair and your eyeline is met by a fence cross bar and a mesh fence. It’s not much better when you stand up. It’s not the site it was, although the shower blocks were pristine. It alleges it’s a 5 star site, it isn’t.
Booked a pitch on front row next to the beach to park our caravan. Everything here we could possibly need for our stay. Indoor pool if wanted, restaurant on site, the Sea Horse, which serves delicious food, and the staff very efficient and friendly. The Hubbox open for snacks was not for us, very pricey plus they smothered our hotdogs in sauce and mustard! Fish and Chip shop not at all nice, we only got fish and chips from there once, that was enough! Camp shop has everything we could possibly need but far to expensive. WiFi useless and expensive, kept losing signal. The beach will definitely bring us back to this location .
