I stayed with my family for 5 nights over Chinese New Year. The POSITIVE: The condo was beautiful, something out of MTV's Real World Phuket! New, modern and huge! We had ocean views from every bedroom. Well stocked kitchen. Our own private pool. Indoor/outdoor spaces which open right up to our pool by way of floor to ceiling glass walls/doors that fold away. The only rooms that are actually closed off are the bedrooms and the living room. These have air-conditioning. NEUTRAL: The rest of the condo is open to the elements with large fans that help circulate air. It was comfortable in January but I wonder whether it would be okay during the warmer months. This is not a hotel so don't expect a hotel atmosphere. They're residential apartments, a handful of which are rented out to tourists. It seemed like most of the units were unoccupied so the property was very quiet. There are limited services. There is a gym but it's small and not adequately air conditioned. There was a free breakfast buffet each morning which was perfectly adequate but nothing fancy. The property is located very close to the water but there are no sandy beaches nearby. There is a taxi stand close-by but we rented a car and I would recommend doing so to anyone who stays here. You'll want to get out and find places to eat and nice beaches. NEGATIVE: The main drawback for our family was that the condo is just not very kid friendly. Modern styling means cold, hard, sharp surfaces … a lot of stone, 3 flights of stairs, an ungated pool directly outside. The 3 bedrooms are also located very far away from each other. My husband and I each shared a room with our younger children (3&5) because we were worried they might wake up in the middle of the night and start wandering around in the dark. The pool is also not gated so we were nervous about our youngest somehow ending up outside unsupervised. To sum up, this would be a great option for a large group of adults and older children. Rent a car and you'll have a blast!

The villa was fantastic and the little restaurant they have was incredible. The food was fresh and tasty. We rented a 2 bed villa with pool, the villa was gorgeous and the location is great for those with a car as we had looking for an escape from Patong and places similar. Only downside I could give was being charged 350baht for a broken glass which broke when being washed. This isnt mentioned anywhere and in Thailand 350 baht is very expensive to replace one glass. Apart from that very enjoyable and would return.

We got a recommendation from a friend i Sweden to stay at Baan Yamu. Before we had stayed at Twin Palms Hotel on Surin Beach. Designed by the same architect Martin Palleros and for a couple I can recommend a two bedroom villa. Big master bedroom with sea view overlooking Boat Lagoon. Location is perfect only 25 min drive from the airport on the calm backroad. Through Resava we booked several excursions to the beautiful Phang Nga Bay. We several meals at Haris Restaurant excellent Thai food and with family atmosphere.

Fantastic appartments: three bedrooms on the two floors, three bathrooms, kitchen and lounge. Modern interior design, large pool, excellent service, free wifi, nice food in the resraurant, quiet place with silent nights.
Minuses: poor beach (to be precise - no beach), remote and isolated place, need a car to get to a supermarket or beach, taxi fare is too high because of the location (and they are not real taxi but private hire cars and can appoint any price, so don't hesitate to bargain). Unsuffifient set of kitchenware.
But the amazing views of nature and service neutralise all these disadvantages and to the end of the trip you manage to adapt.

The residences themselves are lovely, we had a private pool villa, it was clean, cable tv, wifi, bottled water everyday, open, spacious, and matched the photos. Negatives - the freezer didnt work, no microwave, was lacking on some cooking utensils (eg a large saucepan, tin opener), dvd player didnt work (not good as we gave kids some dvds for xmas when there that they couldnt play), only bedrooms had aircon, also no room-safe (NB there was a safe but was locked by the owners, so we couldnt use it; for tourists a safe is important to feeling secure and relaxed). We were supplied with an alternate safe, but it was un-fixed.

I wont say location is a problem, because we knew it was a bit isolated with no nearby beach, but we wanted to avoid the crowds on the west coast (good for that), but transport without your own car is a problem. Taxi's are generally 800baht to go anywhere oneway, no local bus. We quickly realized we needed a car and got one from David Car Rent, no issues.

The previous recommendations for a shuttle service to the beaches and nearby restaurants would be excellent.

Staff were friendly and very helpful, especially when we got accidently locked out. We didnt find english to be a major issue, we were able to communicate ok.

Bar/restaurant('Haris') - Hari and Meo (?) run the restaurant and we ate there a number of times, food and service was excellent and friendly. Pricing was typical tourist pricing 250-350baht per plate, but if you want to eat cheaper you'll need to get in that car and drive, or self-cater.

But along way from everywhere!! If you hire a car and tackle the crazy Thai drivers you couldn't get a better environment. Reception staff are a waste of time - little English and no help. The couple in the restaurant are FANTASTIC - friendly, speaks English and VERY helpful!! The wife (the cook) is fabulous!!

Baan Yamu also has a restaurant known as Haris bar and restaurant.
Amazing food, best in the area by far and the most friendly staff you could ask for.
Fresh king Prawns tonight which were perfect.
Do not miss this gem if you are in the area!!!!!

This had been our second visit to Phuket in the last 4 yrs and we were looking for a place away from the noisy and busy beaches on the west coast. Baan Yamu suits perfectly for a family trip. The peace and tranquility is unparalleled and is highly recommended for those who wish to get some rest from the busy working life.

The resort is on the east coast on Cape Yamu and takes about 40 mins from the airport. Taxi ride would take around 800 THB and can be booked online through different portals.

We had taken the 3 bedroom villa which was quite nicely maintained with minimalistic decorations. All the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor while the 1st floor got the living cum dining space and a spacious balcony outside.

All staffs are quite helpful and would assist promptly. However the front desk staffs work until 6:30 in the evening and it's difficult to reach out to anyone during night hours. Food is absolutely delicious in Harry's restaurant with choices of local delicacy and western cuisines. Although the breakfast is minimal with limited choices, every local dishes we had tried were probably the best during our week long stay in different parts of Phuket.

Apart from the huge villas, the pool is nice and clean and got separate space for the kids. The bar besides the pool is reasonable with few fancy choices.

I'd recommend to pickup daily stuffs from any 7-eleven or other convenient stores on the way from airport as the place is very remote and hardly can find any stores nearby. Get the adapters for the chargers of electronic gadgets as the local electric ports might be different. The staffs from the restaurant went out of their way to help me lend their charger when I was desperately looking for an adapter to charge the phones.

There's a ferry pier a few steps away from the resort and one can take a long-tail boat to the nearby Rang Tai island for a few hours of leisure trip. Try out the local restaurant on the island which is surprisingly affordable and delicious.

We loved this place as its quiet and has everything we need. If you like peace and tranquility, this is the place. If you want a "loud and noisy crowded scene"... Don't go!

Everywhere is accessible, but you will need to rent a car or take a taxi. The hotel can help or you can ask the very lovely manager of their day spa called SenseAsia. What a lovely helpful person she is! More of that later.

The restaurant is good and has a reasonable menu. It's a mix of Thai and other food options. The manager of the restaurant is very caring and willing to help with any requests.

I do have to say this is not a hotel, but a lovely arrangement of villas and apartments on a complex that is well laid out. The pool and gardens are lovely and well maintained.

We came here to relax, and we did. Thank you!

We ate well, we had a lovely time to enjoy the huge pool and to get massage treatments every day. This was the highlight!!!!

They have a spa team who are truly the very, very best. That made the whole stay perfect. We had a massage every day and they provide treatments in the room too, if booked by arrangement. The spa is a short walk from the residences, about 3 minutes, and the manager of the SenseAsia spa team is called "Wi" and nothing for her is too much trouble. She helps even arrange transport if needed, and has a great knowledge of the best places to visit and dine in the local area and even better, she speaks good English to understand what we wanted. Very professional.

If you wish to experience something to add to your holiday, as we did, she recommended Siam Supper Club - a lovely restaurant with a good jazz band who play on Monday evenings. Really very good. It's about 20 mins drive from Baan Yamu in Laguna area. Also for a beach experience, as there is no beach in Baan Yamu, go to Bliss beach club. A great relaxing place with an Italian owner. Both places have great food but are very different.

Thank you again to all of the Baan Yamu Residences team... You made our holiday really the very best and helped us "wind down" from city life.

Thank you so much and we will be back!!!! 🙏😊

If you are looking for a touristy place, this is not the place for you. This quiet and private hotel is nestled at the corner of Phuket, far from the beaches and Phuket town. Taxi fares range from 800-1000 baht from the hotel to the tourist locations. The villa is very quiet and dark at night and the occupancy rate was very low. In the stretch of villa on our side, we were the only occupants. And the distance from the reception area to our villa was quite far and the roads are not well lit. It was a frightening atmosphere with the dark roads and empty houses. The villa itself was nice but it has lack of privacy. There is no fence at the garden which means anybody could come into our garden. And there were 2 big spiders in our villa. The lack of English speaking staff at the receptionist was very frustrating as it was hard for us to get anywhere without a car and my girlfriend felt uncomfortable that they were giving her dirty looks.

We rented a car from yamu carrent, which was given by the hotel. The guy came with the car and without a GPS because he didn't had anymore. Thinking that it was fine since my handphone had GPS I just rented the car from him, which was a huge mistake. My phone battery ended up flat by the time we reach Phuket town because it was far and we got lost and decided to turn back. When we reached our villa, it was so dark and I had difficulty parking the car and caused a minor scratch on the side. The lady from the car rental service came and said that the scratch cost 3000 baht. Since I had paid a security deposit of 3000 baht earlier, she didn't return me back the deposit because of the scratch.

Apart from that, the staff at the bar was nice and the food was great.

Due to the location, perhaps the management would consider having a shuttle service to and from the beaches and golf carts to get around the villa.

Would I come back? No I wouldn't. Despite the nice and spacious villa, the location and inconvenience is a definite turn off. Lack of transportation means you would have to spend on renting or costly non metered taxi rides to and from tourist places. Would help if there was shuttle services. And the car rental service was a definite put off as well.
