The lake district benefits from a number of good hostels and this one is at the top of the pile for me. We stayed there as a group of 12 friends and had a great time. We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. The rooms are spacious and not cramped. The beds although small are very comfortable....

The first thing to note is that this is a hostel, not a hotel - so don’t expect all the bells and whistles you might get in a hotel (marks have been given by comparison to other hostels). Do expect a very friendly welcome, comfortable bunk rooms, impeccably clean bathrooms with good showers, hearty food just right after a hard...

clean comfortable room for two. Self catering kitchen clean and well stocked, even free tea and coffee available. Good location, we did some lovely walks in the area. Nice pub and café very close by. Staff were very helpful and supportive when my daughter hurt her wrist, which was very much appreciated. I would recommend it to everyone. Fiona

A very enjoyable stay. The hostel is very clean and comfortable. The staff are so helpful. Pete went out of his way to help and even at the busiest of times, would spend time chatting to us about our day. A really well stocked kitchen and good, reasonably priced breakfast. If we had one request it would be for some...

Hi Ben, Thanks for your comments. We're pleased you like our hostel The only trouble with background music would be pleasing everyone... I'd have to choose, obviously, and my taste in music can be a little 'challenging' for some people..! I leave you with 'Lady in Red' as an earworm.. ;-) Cheers Nick

We arrived on Monday 11th July and was welcomed by the owner who proved to be very friendly and helpful whenever we exchanged with him. We stayed in a private 2 bed room and the beds were comfortable, the room was a decent size and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The morning breakfast was good and set us...

My friend and I stayed at this hostel on the 2nd July 2016. We arrived at 3pm but the reception only open at 5pm, so we make ourselves a cup of coffee while waiting at the lobby. The room was very comfortable. It has a drying room where we can dry our shoes and get our laundry done. The staff...

I stayed for a week and really enjoyed it. The staffs are incredibly friendly, generous, and helpful. Its dining service is one of the most reasonably priced in the area. Location is great -- surrounded by good views, easy transport, and within walkable distance to Grasmere. The place is very clean and well organised, with convenient self-service facilities (i.e. kitchennette)....

I've spent a weekend with friends at Elterwater hostel recently and had an amazing time! The staff are super friendly and welcoming, the place clean and spacious and the location just perfect, close to some beautiful hiking trails and very peaceful. Kitchen facilities are excellent if you want to self cater (though the breakfast is pretty good) and they also...
