This hotel could be good, but every afternoon is completely ruined by “Drum & Bass”/“Trance” type music blasting out so loud from the pool bar that you can’t relax/read/listen your own music through headphones - it’s so bad that you can’t escape it anywhere in the hotel grounds, so unless you like this music, this isn’t the place for you. Don’t bother saying anything to the management - they’re not interested - they need to decide if they want to attract a wide age range, or just younger people out to party, because at present its not working. The food in the Greek Taverna and Asian Restaurant is really good, and the service is excellent - but having to queue at the hotel lobby bar instead of having table service isn’t acceptable in what’s supposed to be a 4* hotel. They also need more and better seating and tables in the lobby bar area as well. Food in the self-service restaurant is often lukewarm, but service is good and the staff are friendly. Would we go here again - no, it was like having noisy neighbours you can’t escape from - even at night the racket through the open doors to the nightclub ruins the entertainment the hotel put on. We know that other guests complained, but they were also ignored. Money wasted……
Great experience for an all inclusive hotel. It was our anniversary so they put a sparkling wine and fruit in our room which was lovely. Tip: you have to get up really early to reserve a sunbed by the pool. Tip2: you need a reservation for the restaurants
Arrival / check in. We arrived late due to a delayed flight, but fortunately had booked a private transfer so were at the hotel around 10-15 mins after leaving the airport. Check in was quick and painless, made easier with a welcoming glass of Cava. Helen, on reception was great and provided a lot of information, which after a long flight didn’t all sink into our tired brains. One suggestion might be to have the information on a sheet, so it can be read at leisure. We had booked a deluxe sea view room on the platinum package. Due to our late arrival, we were provided bread, cheese, ham. The deluxe package also meant we were given a plate of fruit, chocolates and a bottle of Cava in our room fridge. Room. We were in room 642 which had a great view of the pool and beach/sea. Rooms were clean and quiet with the only real noise coming from the hotel next door. The room had a safe, TV, hairdryer, robes, slippers and toiletries and two large bottles of water (replenished daily as part of our package), kettle with tea bags and a coffee maker with pods. Balcony area was nice. Bed was comfortable and large. Air con worked well. If there is one criticism it would be that more hangers were needed, although there was ample closet space. Shower and bathroom were good but looking a little tired. Location. Good location around a 20-30 min stroll, either along the sea front or via the road to the harbour and Paphos fort, with other hotels, bars and restaurants along the way and around the harbour area. If driving it is easy to get to the main road to the airport and beyond. Deluxe Lounge area. This is open from 8am to 10pm daily. to platinum package holders and is located on the 6th floor, overlooking the countryside and mountains. Nice to see the lights from the houses twinkling away in the evenings. The staff in here are great and nothing is too much. Eleni deserves a special mention and is a credit to the hotel. There are facilities for making hot drinks. Free wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks and a selection of snacks throughout the day. English newspapers are available. We ate breakfast here one morning which was fine. Other meals are available throughout the day and although we had no issues, we did overhear complaints from other guests about how long it took to get their food brought up from the kitchen on the ground floor. However, there is only usually one or two members of staff working in the lounge at any one time and it can get busy, although we were never unable to find a seat. Beach / Pool area The pool area gets very busy, very early with people reserving sunbeds. On the platinum package there is no deposit for beach towels and if you ask the staff, they will reserve sunbeds for you. The pool is very nice, although we prefer the beach as it was less crowded, and we like to hear the sea lapping on the sand. The beach is nice, with sunbeds and umbrellas available (although there are more sunbeds than umbrellas). There are also sunbeds on the grassed area next to the pool area. Pool bar is good with a good selection of drinks and cocktails. Most but not all drinks and cocktails are included in the Gold and Platinum packages. Prices where a charge is required are clearly indicated on the drink’s menu. Snack bar. There is a snack bar located near the pool and again as part of the platinum package these are included. There is a good selection of hot and cold snacks, and where payment is required, the prices are clearly indicated. Food was good, hot and tasty. Water sports area. San Antonio water sports are located on the beach front and offer a good selection of activities. As part of the deluxe package, you get 10% discount. See separate review on San Antonio water sports, but suffice to say excellent friendly, well ran activities. Parking. Parking is free, but limited at the actual hotel, and we always managed to find a space. Reception did say that there is alternate parking close by, but as we never needed it, we never explored it any further. Other amenities. There is a spa, gym, squash courts, hot tubs (inside and outside). Indoor pool. On the platinum package there are discounts available on spa treatments, and a personal training session in the gym. As well as an opportunity to do a trial scuba dive. In the evenings there is entertainment and a nightclub on site that opens at 10pm. Blue Horizon Buffet restaurant. This is the main restaurant serving all meals and can get extremely busy. Seating is available both inside and outside. Great selection at all meals, both hot and cold options along with soups and desserts. Staff are very efficient at clearing away plates once finished. The food itself was ok, it was hot and tasty but nothing special. Speciality restaurants. As part of the deluxe package there is the opportunity to dine at each of the speciality restaurants as often as availability allows. There is a choice of Little Italy (Italian obviously), Egao (Asian) and Mourayio (Greek). Other packages allow for one meal in each restaurant. However, we believe that additional meals can be booked for an additional cost. It is advisable to book these as soon as possible upon arrival, either via the interactive screens around the hotel or via the QR codes. We ate at Little Italy one evening and at Mourayio another evening. We didn’t eat at Egao whilst we were there but did here some good reports from other guests. Mourayio, was by far the best meal we had at the hotel and would thoroughly recommend. Check out / departure. Due to our pickup for our return journey not being until 7.30pm we requested a late check out and again this is something I would recommend requesting early in the holiday as rooms are limited. There was an extra charge for this of 90 Euros for 6 hours but was worth it (payable on check out). There is a possibility of using a courtesy room if preferred but we heard from other guests that it is only for a maximum of 30 mins. Check out was quick and easy with no issues. Staff. The last word must go to the staff, all of whom are friendly and helpful and not a bad word could be said against any of them. The staff do make this a pleasant place to stay. If you have read this far, then thank you and I hope it was informative. The bottom line “Would we stay here again?” The answer would be no, but only because it is too big and crowded and we prefer smaller and more intimate/cosy. Hence the 3 stars for the hotel but 5 for the staff.…
We had a great week in Leonardo Cypria Maris. It was very relaxed. Food was good. Service was great. A very nice room with paronamic sea view. All inclusive was really nice. Everything was clean! Near the sea nice pool. Everything was great.
