We will be back! A wonderful gem in the Lakes. Ben and Virginia and their beautiful girls could not have been more welcoming. The breakfast is an absolute feast and Virginia makes the best granola I've tasted. All the produce they use is local and the breakfast was so filling we didn't need lunch. The lake is a stone throw away and we enjoyed evening swims and also went to the amazing clear pools nearby. The rooms were spotless and the house is so comfortable - feels like a home from home. Top find!

We visited Ouse bridge guest house for a family wedding at a nearby hotel. After a late arrival on Friday we were greeted by very friendly hosts.
Everything we needed was in the room and the honesty bar in the lounge was a nice touch enjoying a local beer. The breakfast had a fabulous choice and was the best we’ve had in a long time and with a fantastic view. Would highly recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights. A very warm welcome and owner very conscious of COVID restrictions and hygiene standards.

Room was ok, we were in a family room and it was pleasant enough but the bathroom needs a bit of money spending on it which I appreciate in the current climate is not easy. There was just a hand held shower head so you had to crouch in the bath to wash. The towel rail was very rusty but think it might be getting replaced as there was another towel rail leaning up against the side of the wardrobe. Plenty of tea and coffee and shortbread and the room was nice and warm and controllable via the radiator. When we were leaving and I looked under the bed to make sure we hadn’t left anything there was a half eaten packet of sweets under the bedside table 😬(not ours).

Breakfast was lovely, very nice fresh fruit and the bacon and sausage were absolutely delicious, as were the mushrooms. Not a fan of the coffee tho - sorry.

Hotel is ideally placed for exploring the local area and the owner is very informative and helpful. Highly recommend the alpacaly ever after excursion (and a nice walk into Portinscale after), dinner at the Old Posting House and a drink at The Pheasant (within walking distance).

Overall a pleasant stay and the weather was wonderful, which really helps! I hope the hotel goes from strength to strength in these difficult times. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We are glad that you have taken the time to leave us a feedback and that you did enjoy your time in our family room. We are always on a DIY & maintenance program, this year has proved difficult getting tradesmen to visit during COVID / lockdown. The challenges of COVID have been our top priority and we are pleased that you and your family felt safe at Ouse Bridge Guesthouse and we do hope that you will return again one day. Keep safe

The size of the B&B is great with plenty car parking spots, location is quite good too, peaceful and tranquil. The decor and furniture inside is very dated and needs serious modernising and tidying up. Lots of clutter in the rooms. The room was not cleaned very well, hairs were embedded into the carpet and there were bits of grass on the carpet, either the room had not been hoovered or it had been hoovered with a very poor hoover with little suction power. Shelves in the toilet were full of dust and had not been cleaned. Dead insects behind the bed, eugh! Clearly the bed does not get pulled out and hoovered behind. Breakfast was a shambles, we had 3 nights there and every morning our breakfast order was messed up. We asked for cereal, we didn't get any, asked for orange juice, didn't get any, cooked breakfasts were mixed up and only 1 of each item. The ladies serving us were polite and friendly enough, however, getting the orders mixed up frequently became a bit frustrating, even though we had clearly marked on the sheet what we would like. Sad to say after high expectations we left disappointed and I don't think we would go back.

We are sad to read your review and surprised about the view on clutter in the rooms - with COVID so many of the soft furnishings have been taken out of the room - it is hard to identify who and that is the joys of Tripadvisor we never really know if you did stay or which room!! During your stay if you had such a terrible experience, I would have at least thought you might have spoke with someone from the management team! We have very very strict process of serving breakfast and the staff have the additional challenges of wearing masks when serving, so if you did have such a terrible experience why not speak with us? Sorry that you were disappointed and did not bring any of this to our attention during your stay.

We were looking forward to staying at Ouse Bridge House for two nights as the reviews were all so good. The team had done their best to adapt to meet Covid requirements but were perhaps over-stretched when we stayed in early September. Breakfast and lunch orders were placed in the 'magic' box to improve efficiency - a great theory, but we assume the 'magic' was what happened to the orders as we did not receive what we ordered on either occasion. The fruit and yoghurt was lovely, but anything cooked, not so much. Having ordered baked beans both days we were at a loss to receive hash brown with breakfast (not on the menu). The addition of ham to the requested cheese salad sandwich was not a welcome addition. We expected better than basic sliced bread and Happy Shopper crisps in the packed lunches.
The room was tired with much dust around the windows as was evident when they were running with condensation in the mornings. The bathroom certainly needed updating with several loose fittings (taps, towel rail etc).
For a reasonably priced stay this would have been OK, but we paid a premium that was not reflected in our experience.

Thank you Ennon2G[ for your review] We are clearly very surprised to read your review and even harder to determine who you are and what room you stayed in. The great joys of Tripadvisor - nobody has to give a name or be held accountable for the comments. We are clearly surprised that you did not speak to us or give us an opportunity to try and look into the issues with your breakfast order during your stay - did you actually sit at the correct table? We are very clear with our process, each table has a number which is as per your room number, this ensures that people are kept safe and sat at the same table, but often people will choose to sit where they want and if the numbers are not aligned then you will get the incorrect order. Talking is a very very easy option, maybe I would recommend that you do this in future, as b&b owners are not mind readers. We are all doing our best in these crazy COVID conditions to make the place safe and all I can imagine is that your orders were confused as you sat at the wrong table.

My husband and I stayed here for a short break (4 nights).
The couple who run this B&B are friendly and helpful.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We had a separate en-suite bathroom and a very large wardrobe (with coat hangers). It was so lovely to have a dressing table with a stool and a mirror and socket nearby for the hairdryer. We also had a kettle, mugs, teabags, coffee bags, hot chocolate sachets and 2 drinking glasses. There was a bottle of water and in the guest lounge there was fresh milk which we could get as we needed it. There was also more fresh water and an “honesty bar” in the large and comfortable guest lounge. This was a lovely place to sit and relax with a drink and a book or play one of the board games available for guests’ use.
The breakfast was delicious - a choice of cereal, toast, pastry, juice, tea or coffee and a full English breakfast (with vegan options). You ordered the night before and specified a time so when you came down the next morning it was all ready and waiting for you.
I can highly recommend this B&B as a superb place to stay whilst exploring this lovely part for f the country.

Ouse Bridge House was an exceptionally nice place to stay, particularly with regard to the warmth of service and friendliness of the proprietors. Parking was good on arrival and an excellent explanation was provided by Virginia about the facilities, including comfortable residents lounge and breakfast arrangements. First impressions were therefore very good and satisfaction in my choice maintained thereafter during the stay.

Breakfast was really good with locally sourced items such as bacon and sausage evidently obtained from a local butcher, cooked well and served on hot plates by Ben. My room was warm, comfortable, clean and well prepared with all that was needed for a pleasant stay. Although evening meals were not available this was not a problem. A good pub serving food was situated within easy walking distance. Journey time by car to Cockermouth was short and easily accessible.

Unlike 'Corporate' establishments the feeling of being within a family environment as a guest was prevalent, comfortable and conducive to a restful break, friendly yet professional. I intend to return with friends and family later in the year. I thoroughly recommend Ouse Bridge House for those looking for accommodation in this location close to Bassenthwaite Lake (or the restored Station Cafe a short walk close by). Bird fanciers might be interested in the Dubwath Silver Silver Meadows Nature Reserve , again very close to the Guest House.

We received a very warm welcome by Virginia and Ben and had the loveliest stay. Nothing was too much trouble and it felt like home from home, with a few extra thoughtful touches. We liked the eco-friendly approach and enjoyed the locally sourced foods.
The location is perfect, peaceful and tranquil, yet within easy travelling distance to all the lakes, attractions and amenities. A visit to the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake is a few minutes’ walk from the Guest House. There is beautiful backdrop to the lake, which changes from pink skies in the morning to golden mountains in the evenings.
Wi-Fi connectivity is very good, which was very helpful for web searches when planning the day’s activities.
The breakfasts, cooked to order, and the seeded porridge/Greek yoghurt with fresh berries and locally sourced honey were delicious. Thankyou Virginia for the breakfasts and Ben and the girls as front of house.
We would return in a blink of an eye!
Many thanks from Caroline & Rob.

Stayed here for 3 x nights, you'll receive a very warm welcome at the Ouse Bridge. Claire the host was really accommodating and made our stay a relaxing one. Ideally situated on Bassenthwaite lake for walking, swimming ,fishing & kayaking (permits required). Bus stop 200m away to Keswick & Cockermouth was ideal for us and a further 200m to The Pheasant pub where we had 2 x lovely meals. Extremely pleasant weekend and would definitely stay again.

A very welcoming family run accommodation that caters for all types of travellers, including me as a motorcyclist. The Oners provided access to a drying area to allow my kit to dry following a very wet day's travel and even ran me down to the local restaurant as putting on wet gear was not really an option. The accommodation is perfectly placed to visit the Lakes to tour or walk and I would recommend it as a good place from to which to base.
