I stayed already my 4th time in Aretoussa Guesthouse and will always return. I like the personal atmosphere and the great attentive owner Kerstin and her service worker Alma. Spotlessly clean rooms in gentle warm colours with a little balcony. Bathroom got renewed which is great. It is a cosy little place surrounded by trees and plants in the garden. Kerstin always has an ear for the needs of her costumers, gives advices, recommendations. The breakfast takes place in the yard in front of the house and is a la carte with 4 options who have to be paid extra. The portions are very big not easy to eat it all. Pitsidia is an authentic little Cretan village away from the main touristic track. Famous Kommos Beach is 25 min by foot away. If you need rest and want to really enjoy go Aretoussa!…
We had such a good stay at Aretoussa, a lovely welcome from Kerstin. Breakfasts are great on the deck at the front. Rooms are clean and spacious and the costs are reasonable. The location is excellent. The town of Pitsidia has many restaurants, surprisingly good ones hidden away. Aretoussa in Pitsidia is well located for trips to Matala beach & town only 10 minutes drive and the impressive Minoan ruins at Phaisos. We wished we could stay longer and hope we can go back again
Host Kirsten most welcoming and serves delicious healthy breakfasts. Room spotlessly clean and freshly decorated, with back-facing view from verandah onto pleasant garden. Great library of German (and some Engish language) guidebooks to Crete, as well as paperbacks in reception area. Only one mains socket for phone/laptop charging in our room, but really...a first-world problem when enjoying such a beautiful natural location near mountains, coast and archaeology aplenty (Phaestos/Gortyna). Cretan ethnology museum in Vorai and the pottery shop in Sives (supplier of Kirsten's crockery dappled crockery) are good visits.
We were able to check in at 9am after a red eye flight. Kirsten is so warm and friendly and serves a nice breakfast. Restaurants on both sides of the hotel are excellent. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Mosquito net provided although we weren't bothered much. A good walk to local beach or catch the bus to Matala. You cannot rent an automatic car in the village.
