I stayed already my 4th time in Aretoussa Guesthouse and will always return. I like the personal atmosphere and the great attentive owner Kerstin and her service worker Alma. Spotlessly clean rooms in gentle warm colours with a little balcony. Bathroom got renewed which is great. It is a cosy little place surrounded by trees and plants in the garden. Kerstin always has an ear for the needs of her costumers, gives advices, recommendations. The breakfast takes place in the yard in front of the house and is a la carte with 4 options who have to be paid extra. The portions are very big not easy to eat it all. Pitsidia is an authentic little Cretan village away from the main touristic track. Famous Kommos Beach is 25 min by foot away. If you need rest and want to really enjoy go Aretoussa!

A nice little hotel (B&B). This small hotel is located in a charming village. The rooms are basic but clean and with free internet. There is a small garden in the backyard and the lobby and in the front of the hotel there are further places to sit outside and relax while reading or having a drink (can be bought from the hotel bar).

The breakfast is excellent with good quality espresso based coffee and fresh orange juice.

I had a few problems finding the place as the original GPS coordinates I had was wrong. The correct coordinates are N35.01572 & E24.77953 ad will take you to the hotels private car park just next to the accommodation.

I recommend to eat in the tavern called Mike's that is located just up the road from the hotel.

The ancient remains of Phaistos is nearby and is also worth a visite.

we. a couple, stayed 2 nights with kerstin - a very warmhearted host originally from germany. we chose to stay with her as her rooms are in wellsuited area for some sightseeing trips. the room we had was on the 1st floor facing the small garden at the back of the house - so facing away from the street. the room comes with 2 single beds with good nit too soft mattresses under a mosquito tent. the build in bathroom was simple with a shower plus curtain, toilet and sink - absolutetly ok for our purposes. the room itself was clean - like the bathroom. the air con was working nicely. the balcony offers 2 chairs, a table and clothlines.

in front of the house is a shaded terrace where you can have breakfast - like omelette, grilled sandwiches, greek yoghurt with honey and/ or fresh fruits. behind the house is a private parking area shaded by some trees. in the groundfloor you may find a library with books from other travellers :-)
kerstin was a very friendly and helpful host making sure to help you out with all enquiries. she is even offering cheap car rental and transportation and/ or pick ups from crete airports for a very good price. we can definitely recommend kerstins atetoussa pension if you want to stay in this area for enjoying either trips to some interesting sites like gortyna, phaestos, agia triada or chilling at an uncrowded sandy beach in kommos with clear waters and a small bar where you can buy softdrinks/ coffee/ beer/ juices or having a quick bite.

The Aretoussa is a nicely decorated clean place run well by a pleasant cretan/german couple. But for half the money you can stay across the road in the Acropol which is run by a charming older Cretan lady who provides spotless ensuite rooms with slightly eccentric plumbing but the most fabulous sunsets. On the whole a more authentic experience and excellent value.

We had such a good stay at Aretoussa, a lovely welcome from Kerstin. Breakfasts are great on the deck at the front. Rooms are clean and spacious and the costs are reasonable.
The location is excellent. The town of Pitsidia has many restaurants, surprisingly good ones hidden away.
Aretoussa in Pitsidia is well located for trips to Matala beach & town only 10 minutes drive and the impressive Minoan ruins at Phaisos.

We wished we could stay longer and hope we can go back again

Host Kirsten most welcoming and serves delicious healthy breakfasts. Room spotlessly clean and freshly decorated, with back-facing view from verandah onto pleasant garden. Great library of German (and some Engish language) guidebooks to Crete, as well as paperbacks in reception area. Only one mains socket for phone/laptop charging in our room, but really...a first-world problem when enjoying such a beautiful natural location near mountains, coast and archaeology aplenty (Phaestos/Gortyna). Cretan ethnology museum in Vorai and the pottery shop in Sives (supplier of Kirsten's crockery dappled crockery) are good visits.

We were able to check in at 9am after a red eye flight. Kirsten is so warm and friendly and serves a nice breakfast. Restaurants on both sides of the hotel are excellent. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Mosquito net provided although we weren't bothered much. A good walk to local beach or catch the bus to Matala. You cannot rent an automatic car in the village.

Aretoussa pension is a nice place in the South of Creta, close to Malata and the archaeological site of Phaistos.
The person in charge is very welcoming and very friendly.
The room was nicely decorated and the bed was equipped with a mosquito net, very useful. There is a small garden and a parking for the car.
The price for the room was cheap.
The pension is very calm as well as Pitsidia which is a small typical village.
An excellent address.
