When you come off the road and hit the ancient track to Craighall Steading do not be put off, at the end of it ancient meets modern (a passive build,) It is fabulous.! You will drive up alongside one of the bonniest little fields. You arrive to a very peaceful place. My travelling companion, cocker spaniel, had a lovely welcome.a mat laid out for water bowl , a bed rug and dog towel at the ready. Fluffy dressing gown for me and a little fridge for my beer.! Caroline and Dave have created something special.. Ohh .and memorable sunsets.

Found Craighall when walking the Fife Pilgrim Way from Kennoway to Ceres. We both really enjoyed our stay at Craighall. Quiet location, friendly, welcoming hosts, beautiful, comfortable room with all needs catered for ( e.g bottle of fresh milk in room fridge and the most delicious shortbread ever) and outdoor seating where you can sit and enjoy a cuppa or glass of wine. Delicious breakfast with produce from the garden and hens. We didn’t want to leave (but had a walk to St Andrews to complete!) Many thanks to Caroline and Dave for making us so welcome.

Thank you for your review; hopefully next time you'll be able to stay a little longer and relax some more. I hope you rewarded yourself with Jannettas ice cream when you got to St Andrews.

Marvellously comfortable B & B located just outside the small village of Ceres. Located in the grounds of an old farm and uses some of the ancient outbuildings as the basis for a new eco friendly residence. I think there are only two rooms for rent in the property and we had the upstairs one, with the large picture window giving views over Fife to the Lomond hills. As there is no light pollution nearby, the night sky is a riot of stars. We sat in the dark with a glass of wine just enjoying the clear night sky. The hosts are great and we felt more like houseguests, with breakfast usually stretching on for an hour as we just chatted. The breakfast itself was massive - just the thing we needed before a long days walking.
It was an excellent base for undertaking the last two sections of the Fife Pilgrims Way walking route to St Andrews and Kennoway, and the local bus connections made it easy to organise the return journeys. Only potential downsides we encountered are the lack of walkable local food and drink outlets for dinner (the local pub in Ceres seems to keep irregular opening/food serving hours) and the fact the steading is located at the end of a fairly robust farm track. For the former we took the car or bus into nearby Cupar for dinner, and the latter wasn't really much of a concern for us once we got there as we were walking. But both might be something to consider.
Nevertheless It is well placed for touring around St Andrews and the East Neuk with lots of National Trust for Scotland properties such as Kellie Castle and Hill of Tarvit within 10 minutes driving. All in all thoroughly recommended.

Thank you for taking the time to write a comprehensive review. We really enjoyed having you to stay, it was great to have have a good blether over breakfast. We feel very lucky to have a home in such a wonderful location and often over look the bumpy track. Whilst there are good cafes in the village for daytime food; as you say options for evening meals often means a short drive or bus journey to Cupar or St Andrews (Meldrums Hotel is about to reopen its restaurant soon so hopefully that will provide guest with great options).

My husband and I stayed here on our trip to St. Andrews to drop our daughter off at Uni. We loved how the home is away from the hustle and bustle of the town, but just about 15 min. drive to St Andrews. It is peaceful, great breakfast and the hosts are extremely accommodating, welcoming and make you feel at home. The beds are comfortable, and everything is kept immaculately clean. The furnishings are all from local artisans and we loved how they combined the new and old. There are also a couple of short walks that we took that lead to the remnants of the old castle that stood there. We actually ended up coming back here and staying a couple more days at the end of our trip. We also used their recommendations for where to eat and everything we tried was fantastic. There is no doubt we will be returning.

We have stayed at Craighall Steading more than a few times and it is our first choice anytime we are coming in. The hosts are very welcoming , the beds are comfortable, the rooms are extremely clean, the breakfast is great. It is a quiet area and we get the best sleep there. It is only a 15 min drive to Saint Andrews as well so it is really convenient and they offer free parking. The last time we had an early departure they even sent us off with a wonderful and thoughtful to-go breakfast. They have a lovely garden where the eggs and fruits come from as well. It’s our favorite place to stay and we can’t wait to return.

We had a great stay. Our room was so nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable! The breakfast was so tasty and we were very impressed that everything was home cooked and locally sourced. We had horrendous weather and the farm track washed away. It meant we couldn’t leave until the track was sorted by the farmer but we were made to feel very welcome and Caroline even made us delicious scones to keep us going while we waited! Dave was great at keeping us updated with the road conditions etc. Thanks so much for a lovely stay. We highly recommend and hope to come back soon hopefully in better weather!

Super stay at Craighall Steading. Rural, very peaceful location. 10 min drive from Cupar station. The room was great; very comfortable, sparkling clean and with wonderful view. Fresh milk was provided (without being requested)! Caroline and Dave made us very welcome and gave tips of where to eat in Edinburgh. Excellent breakfast. Highly recommended.

We arrived quite late but Caroline and Dave welcomed us warmly and showed us the rooms and the facilities. The rooms are stunning, cozy, very clean and very inviting. They are decorated beautifully and the stunning views in the morning were amazing whilst sat having a coffee. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious with a wide range of choice.
Caroline and Dave were lovely.
If you’re visiting the area please stay here it’s a lovely location and a lovely place to stay.

Just back from a wonderfully relaxing stay at Craighall Steading. An absolutely immaculate and beautiful accommodation that took a lot for us to leave and view what the rest of Ceres and Cupar has to offer. Our hosts C&D were so lovely and accommodating, friendly approachable and welcoming with an unsurpassable breakfast that set us up for the day a combination of locally sourced produce, homemade food with eggs from their own sweet hens and engaging and informative conversation. Beautiful location for long woodland walks, tranquil and serene setting for a lovely relaxing break and a short distance to Ceres and Cupar. An amazing experience and would definitely recommend.

A truly lovely B&B near Ceres, Fife. Such a warm welcome from the host, Caroline, and Cody modern rooms and amenities in a rustic farm setting. Breakfast was superb and suggestions for meals in Cupar gave us an excellent choice of good food and friendly local patrons and staff.
