I chose to stay at Hotel Do Ype while visiting Itatiaia National Park for some wildlife watching and was very pleased that I did. The place is great! The accommodation consists of pretty chalets arranged on the mountainside around the main reception and restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool and a recreational building containing a bar, games room and sauna. My...

The cool mountain air made the experience extraordinary at this super location. Like most other local Brazilian hospitality establishments, the staff do not speak English and not attentive - a general challenge for the entire Brazil's service industry. The room is clean, but with little natural light, inconvenience spacious planning and poorly maintained furnitures, water taps and switches. Do bring...

Hotel Ype was reasonably priced and very quiet. A romantic getaway for couples who want to be near nature and enjoy some great hiking. Stayed one night, but would have liked to stay longer. Loved seeing large hummingbirds and other colorful rainforest avian life. Saw monkeys and squirrels, too. These sightings are practically guaranteed when dining at Hotel Ype's restaurant...

We spent two nights, and our stay was most enjoyable. The nature and birdlife is just amazing, and oasis for birders, in a location not far from Sao Paulo. Depending on the season the weather and nights can be cold, so bring sweaters. The chalets were basic but fully adequate, and the food and service was good. Recommended.

I loved it here, really beautiful place. Indoor swimming pool was as warm as a bath. Hummingbirds, other birds and monkeys were cool. Nice walks and pretty waterfalls. The food was delicious and abundant. I couldn't fault the service. I would recommend it.Only negatives were sheets weren't spotless and watch out for ants in your sugar bowl....but your in a...

We stumbled on this hotel because the one we had booked (Hotel Chales Terra Nova) was a complete disaster and many hotels were closed for the season. This hotel is in an amazingly beautiful setting with a view of the valley and surrounded by the national park. The price was reasonable and included all meals, which were plentiful and good...

A hotel in a beautiful location on a mountainside. The rooms look like mountain chalets and have their own fireplaces with fire laid. They are comfy and spacious. The food is delish and the staff more than accommodating. The birds around the hotel and at the feeders are wondrous. Br sure to try to see the resident owls!

THE place to stay in Itatiaia. Accomodation rustic but quite acceptable and well maintained. Food excellent. Sauna and pools in good condition. If weather bad you have snooker and table tennis. But the outstanding aspect is the range of beautiful birds you can see at the feeders. Saw monkeys also. At £100 per couple per day full board it is...

This is a great place to stay if visiting the National Park, a two-hour bus ride from Rio. The hotel is nice, the staff are lovely and the food great. Bring warm clothes if you come in winter, as the hotel's location means it can be cold; and enjoy the walks, breakfasts watching birds and monkeys, the waterfalls, and the...

This place is fantastic particularly, if you love birds. You can see many species at the feeders and on the grounds, even some that are difficult to see elsewhere. The fireplaces in each chalet are wonderfully cozy and in winter you will be glad for them. The showers have very hot water - also nice in winter. The food is...
