There are 4 really comfortable rooms available in this wonderful place at the top of Evoramonte, inside the Castle walls, right next to the Castle. Each room has access to breathtaking views of the castle and the valley below. Three double en-suite rooms and one self-catering suite. All are available on a Bed & Breakfast basis. Each has been decorated retaining as many features from the old building as possible, quietly blended with some modern features that will make your stay more comfortable; such as air conditioning, in-room safe and a shared 'snug' with mini-bar facilities.

WOW, if you’re looking for a very special place to stay in this area this is it. Beautiful location, very charming village on top of a hill. Had a fabulous 4 night break, superb hosts, bedrooms very comfortable, the whole house is beautifully yet simply designed and has everything you need. Great base to explore neighbouring towns or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The Place at Evoramonte was a very special Place to stay. The views are simply stunning and the "village" is beautiful. Vicki and Mitch are wonderful hosts and they have created a welcoming, comfortable and personal "home from home" full of interesting belongings from around the world. The breakfasts are a great start to the morning, fresh and delicious - Mitch is an excellent omelette maker - and served with an unparalleled view from the terrace. The rooms are well furnished with many well thought out design features to create an individual feel and the beds are very comfortable . We travelled there with our (adult) son and his girlfriend and it was fantastic to have the space to enjoy time with them without feeling crowded out by others around. The roof terrace was perfect at the end of the evening to enjoy a glass of wine from the wide range of bottles on offer through the honesty bar. there are a lot of things to do and places to see in the surrounding areas and we loved being there but needed more time to take advantage of all there is to offer - we will return to complete that challenge. This was our third visit to The Place, and it certainly was a case of “third time lucky”. Vicky and Mitch have been amazing and knowledgeable hosts on all of our visits. They continue to be really helpful and this visit, like our previous ones, has been very special. This time we were a group of four. We all enjoyed the quiet accommodation, great food and Five Star service from the brilliant Vicky and Mitch team. The views from the terrace are top-notch too! Very highly recommended.

A beautiful location within the grounds of the castle at Evoramonte, this is a little gem of a guesthouse. Built over multiple levels, the views from the rear-facing en-suite double room I stayed in (with its own private terrace) and all of the various shared terraces are stunning… you look out across the olive groves & vineyards that fall away below you from your high perch, and can see for miles. Fabulous during the day, even better at sunset! Being there in the height of summer, the high temperatures in the plains below were moderated by a gentle breeze - that’s the beauty of The Place’s position high up on the hilltop. This made it quite comfortable throughout the day as long as you kept to the shady spots on the terraces. Although I only stayed for a long weekend, I got to experience some lovely cuisine at two restaurants in Estremos, and simple but yummy fare at the Cafe O Emigrante at the bottom of the hill in Evoramonte, all of which host Mitch introduced me to. All in all, a lovely stay and I look forward to returning.…

What a stunning location with amazing views from the castle ramparts across the beautiful Portuguese countryside. If you've ever wondered what it's like to be the king of the castle, then this is a must stay guesthouse as the host always makes you feel like royalty. And the quiet location upon the Mount within the ramparts of the castle walls should make you feel very comfortable and regal.

Wow! What a place. Just returned from an unforgettable week staying with Mitch & Vicky at their stunning hideaway retreat. Views and sunsets to die for, eagles soaring, fabulous slow food and wines, all within the walls and in the shade of a romantic castle setting. Much to do hereabouts, charming hill towns, 5 star dining, and a world class vineyard on the doorstep. Unique, relaxing, good for the soul, and I’m not being paid to write this.. The Place is an apt name for this slice of heaven. Nothing can compare if you're looking for superb service, in an historic setting with a large hug of exquisite views. Nothing has been missed and our room (4) was simply incredible. Vicky and Mitch could not have been more attentive and have literally thought of everything. This is a place to enjoy the fantastic local food and wine in a quiet setting that is deeply personal. They have sensibly kept the menu simple but brilliant and the cafe area has more than you could wish for in terms of choice. Two local towns of Estremoz and Evora are a short hop away by car or taxi and offer wonderful markets, an abundance of restaurants and historic places to visit. We didn't venture out on the extensive walking trails but simply looking out over the castle wall gives you a sense of the spectacular countryside there is to explore. We flew into Lisbon and opted for a Limo taxi with Antonio, arranged by Vicky. As we did not want to rent a car this was a great option and no more expensive. I had forgotten how brilliant the roads are in Portugal. Having run out of superlatives to describe this wonderful place, I will end by saying that if you want to feel special, in a very special place that will leave you moved and altered positively, then this is The Place for you. An amazing place with wonderful, generous, knowledgable hosts. Fantastic home cooked food and good quality rooms, bathrooms and bedding. But the star is the location - sunset views across the Alentejo hills from within the castle walls atop one of the region’s highest peaks. Very close to Estremoz, it is the perfect weekend getaway or base to explore the wider Alentejo. An absolute gem, could not recommend more highly! Absolutely stunning views and very friendly hosts. Walking around the castle walls and tasting local food and olive oil are activities to note. Comfortable crystal clean rooms with a view from bed. We will be visiting again!
