What can I say...Not the cheapest night on our trip but worth the extra. From greeting on arrival to leaving (there were hugs) Just made to feel like the most important people in the world. The surroundings are beautiful, the Châteaux is elegant and very classy. To call this a hotel does this establishment a disservice. It is an experience...

We stayed in the Marie Antoinette suite...a treat. Superb view of the valley, nicely furnished and fab bathroom. Very nicely run by friendly and discreet Henriette & Henk van Ampting. A Dutch couple that revamped the Chateau into a Top class 4 suite Relais: all spacious with stunning views. Fine ndoor/outdoor dining, area for indoor drinks, reading, etc. Breakfast simple...

Wow, this is a well run chateau hotel! Everything is spectacularly beautiful and classy - the room, the whole hotel, the exterior and grounds, added to the most gorgeous general location in Limosin - seemingly undiscovered - by Brits at least - the challenge is that you have to speak quite a bit of French. But the owners speak good...

We hadn't planned to stay here but ended up having to find accommodation for a week at short notice after spending one night in the gite we'd booked (see review of gite de Capulet)- a nightmare of a place and owner. We needed somewhere beautiful to get over the trauma and how lucky we were to end up at this...

We just spent two nights at this wonderful hotel. It is a haven of calm and tranquility, with a very warm welcome from the hosts who can't do enough to be helpful but are also very discreet. We loved our spacious room (Louis IV) with stunning views. All the food is home cooked and delicious. It only has four rooms...

We are a young Canadian couple who visited in July 2012. We absolutely loved our stay and our only regret was that we only stayed two night. Beautiful accommodation, clean, totally modernized. Owners/host made it a very personal stay. Dinner and breakfasts were excellent. We hope to return some day soon.

We received a warm welcome on arrival and just loved our beautiful room. The food was excellent, prepared by the charming hostess and based on local seasonal super fresh products. Next time we travel in this part of France we will definitively take the opportunity to stay there again.

We are very lucky to travel a great deal and to have stayed in some of the finest hotels all over the world (always with Tripadvisor's advice naturally) we now have a new favourite hotel in France. I guarantee you, there is not a cleaner hotel on the planet. I guarantee you there is not a nicer and more attentive...

In September we booked two nights at Château du Bois Noir. We thought it would be a nice stopover on our way north from the Dordogne, but we were not expecting such an elegant château experience. After missing the road to the château (our own fault) and making a quick phone call to get directions, we drove up the hill...
