The hotel is a little tired, but don't let that put you off. The staff are very attentive and this place has its own unique charm. Very centrally located, for all amenities too. Mosquitoes are a nuisance, but we became experts at finding them when back in the evenings. Khao Lak is a beautiful part of Thailand, and poignant exploring the devastation of the 2004 Tsunami, but a must see!

Wonderful Experience! So nice staff and excellent service! We have been here for a week and the food is excellent and we have not gotten ill at any time. The hotel has a good taxi service which makes it easy to explore new parts of khao lak. At last but not least. The pool is awesome!

Amazing holiday, lovely hotel! We stayed in the adults only wing and it was very peaceful. Rooms and all of hotel very clean! Beds were super comfy. All waiters/waitresses were very friendly Beach just over the road too.

We had a beautiful pool side room with swim up terrace, it was clean and tidy. The staff was very nice and friendly. The food was amazing and very diverse with thai and europeans dishes as well. We had wi-fi covering the whole resort with good internet speed. A must try is the spa! We had a two hours spa experience which was amazing.

Excellent hotel, probably the best I’ve ever been to. The staff are extremely helpful, polite and attentive, and made our stay even better. The hotel grounds, pools, bars and restaurants are all excellent. The spa was superb, in particular Sim and Nee were very helpful and friendly, and made my experience perfect. Thank you

This is our fourth stay at either Bhandari or the Oriental and have always been very, very happy and complimentary. Sad to report things are not as they were. Firstly, upon check in I was told ('told' not 'offered') a room upgrade to the pool access room. 'No thankyou' we prefer the privacy of the upstairs room we have booked.. A few moments later the 'offer' was changed to 'all the other rooms are fully booked so you have to take this room' my reply was that I had booked and paid for the room we wanted three month ago so why have you accepted other bookings? Management appears. They have a room but with only two single beds, they would have to put them together and would take half an hour. I said we would stay that night and cancel the rest of the booking. Suddenly a room became vacant!! Who would have thought it? The whole block where we ended up was nearly empty. It was clear the idea was for the few people staying, as you would think in low season during the monsoon, were to be housed close together in the other blocks as this was more convenient for the hotel. The 'upgrade' was for their benefit not ours. Secondly, the food in the restaurant. We have very fond memories of the food here. A previous review raved about the food. Now? Very disappointing. The 'waiter' insisted can only order from one fixed menu, the one reserved for half or full board. No amount of explaining, in Thai would change his mind. Eventually he was corrected by another staff member and we got the A La Carte menu. Maybe my memory has faded but the menu seemed smaller than a couple of years ago. What isn't in doubt is the change in the taste. Now very dull and lacking in flavour, cooked ok but boring taste. We had asked for spicy but this was beyond bland. Only ate once in eight nights preferring to brave the heavy monsoon rain to walk up the hill to the town. Happy hour cocktails? Still a deal but not mixed well. Staff at the poolside bar/restaurant were bored and constantly chatting in the background oblivious to the few people trying to relax. My wife is Thai and informed me they were not chatting about work, when I asked what she became very embarrassed and said that she didn't want to tell me 55555 On the whole the Staff were as welcoming and friendly as before and the grounds within the hotel well maintained, the front of the property has building junk dumped in various places, needs tidying up. Some of the staff seemed to be trying too hard. Would I stay again? Difficult one to answer. Was always our first choice when we visited Khaolak, an automatic choice if available. Now I think we will at least look at other hotels. Sad as we had always enjoyed this hotel. …
