Perfect for a family or small group the Suites offer a fully equipped kitchen for those wanting to be self-sufficient, a Salon with a double sofa bed, large double bedroom with a canape Victorian style bed and Jack and Jill luxury bathroom which can be accesses via the bedroom or the salon. There is an abundance of herbs growing in the garden which guests are welcome to use for their cooking and if there are any ingredients you are missing then you can always ask the staff at the Bistro and they will help you with what you need. For those not wanting to make use of the self catering facilities you are welcome to dine in the Bistro or join Lesa & Ted for a home cook meal. Guest access We provide off road parking within our gated courtyard. Other things to note Chateau De Montmagner has been sympathetically renovated after being abandoned for many years. The buildings are made from granite stone and you can see from the huge dressed stonework the age of the property. The original 14th century spiral staircase was built from Oak and the central column is an ancient ships mast. Underneath the tower there is said to be medieval tunnels leading to La Soutteraine church built in the 11th century. The Chateau is steeped in its own history with links to King Louis 13th and the Knights Templar, however it is a perfect base for lovers of historical architecture with over 300 listed historical monuments close by.

We had a fabulous stay. Lesa and Ted were both wonderful hosts and made me and my wife Lizzie feel like we were at a home from home. We stayed in the open plan apartment which was well equipped, stylishly decorated with quality finishes. The bed was comfortable so we had a smooth sleep on both nights.

We had dinner on both evenings, and a continental breakfast one morning and the cooked breakfast on the final morning. The quality of the home cooked food was excellent, and the portion sizes were very good - Lesa is an excellent cook, if Creme Brulee is on the menu I would highly recommend it!

If you are staying for more than just one night I recommend a trip into the town of La Souterrane which is only about a 10 minute drive away. The countryside near the chateau is lovely and worth taking time to go for a stroll.

We are both looking forward to our next stay, though we'll probably stay for longer next time.

This place has been lovingly renovated and restored to such a high standard by Ted and Lesa who took on this massive project not long ago .
The Suite was decorated tastefully and was fit for a king or Queen and everything you needed was supplied.
Perfect hosts. Cannot wait for a return visit.

My husband and I came to Château de Montmagner for four nights to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We have followed the renovation of the chateau on YouTube for the past 2 years. Ted and Lesa, the hosts, have worked tirelessly to renovate this near derelict historic monument. What a job they have done and it will only get better! Superb hosts, nothing is too much trouble. They have managed to renovate tastefully but still keeping as many original features as possible. A visit is highly recommended. Perfectly situated 40 minutes from the stunning city of limoges. I can't wait to to return.

Amazing chateau. The hosts Ted and Lesa have renovated the historic building to a sympathetic high standard. The rooms are amazing and the food in the tea room is delicious. Would absolutely stay here again. The attention to detail that has gone into this business is outstanding

Well done Lesa, Ted and team. You are doing a fabulous job of creating something very special at Chateau De Montmagner. And we can’t believe we are just 30mins drive away.

We first visited last week for the heritage weekend. A 5/5 experience with a fabulous tour from Lesa, super music from Ted and an array of fabulous artisan stalls - we bought from almost all.

Today we went for lunch. And yes another 5/5 experience. Great engaging service and wonderful food. Yes Lesa excels in the food area too :) and is fabulously supported by her team.

I would strongly recommend the French onion soup starter if on the changing menu when you visit. We also enjoyed the garlic mushrooms, chicken chasseur, apple crumble (yum) & crème brûlée

Ps there is also an evening menu available. Both midi or soir dining are popular so do book

We can’t wait to return

We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed 3 evening meals with the hosts: Ted & Lesa. Lovely hosts and food.

Made to feel very welcome and all the facilities in our room were superb: clean, modern shower, basin & loo and lovely comfy large bed.

Also had an additional area with facilities for food prep, oven, pod coffee machine, fridge and kettle. Tranquil place to stay and be with nature. Lots of pretty birds.

Wifi included but no TV.

Plenty of lovely villages to visit and things around to do. Great base for exploring.

A warm welcome and shown to our room. It's up an old spiral staircase and was fabulous. The work that Ted and Lesa have done here is amazing, there are videos on their YouTube channel showing the place when they bought it and it's hard to believe that it's the same place. They've got the balance exactly spot on of keeping the old character and having the right modern conveniences - unlike a number of the other places featured on the various 'We bought an old place in France' TV shows. The bed and bedding were excellent, the bathroom clean and modern, there's a kettle, coffee pod machine and fridge. We'd booked and chosen the evening meal menu ahead of arrival and it was all first class. Wine was excellent and good value too. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice. There was a very informative file detailing local attractions, brocantes etc. Please note that the tea room is no longer in operation, the TV show is months behind what's actually going on. They have a Facebook page and YouTube channel, so you can keep up with their work.

A thoroughly charming historic setting. Delicious food and drink served by a extremely friendly and welcoming couple.

I would thoroughly recommend visiting the Chateau De Montmagner for food. A great location for a family celebration, dining with friends or a romantic meal.

The proprietors Ted & Lisa are so friendly and hard working. They clearly have a love for the location and are working hard to renovate the buildings and bring them back to their former glory.

Both are able to relay historical
Information facts about the buildings over the centuries.

Once again Ted, Lesa and team delivered a perfect meal. The food was cooked to perfection, the hospitality was second to none and the atmosphere was just perfect. If all restaurants delivered to this standard life would be perfect. Always book to avoid disappointment.

I would think so, but we visited in the summer and sat outside. You would need to contact them direct for out of season visits. I’m not sure if the restaurant is open in the winter? It’s easy to send them a message on their Facebook page 👍
