We drove up from Shannon airport, an easy 90 minute drive. We were self-catering but were lucky our hosts were in residence and greeted us with wine, cheese and a roaring log fire in the Great Hall. This was a birthday treat for me so I was given the beautiful gold and white bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. Fairy tale stuff! This is a majestic yet cosy little castle, with five bedrooms and the Great Hall, a kitchen next to that with a large fridge and Rangemaster, and steps up to the battlements right on top. Glorious views. We were all really cosy even though it was December. Loads of logs and kindling were there and we made great use of the huge fireplace first thing in the morning then while we made and ate supper, and finally to accompany the guitars the guys had brought. We had some great outings. One to see a sheepdog at work in the most scenic location ever. It was incredible. We also visited Cong, the village made famous by John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara’s ‘The Quiet Man’ in 1952. We topped off the weekend with a truly decadent afternoon tea at Ashford Castle and then a Guinness in a nearby bar where the local people were dancing. Turin Castle is a truly brilliant place to stay; such character, 1000 years of history, and yet a manageable size for groups up to about 12; they even host small weddings in the chapel that sits in the garden. Ultimate romance ! Altogether a weekend of unique and beautiful memories, with fun outings, amazing scenery, fabulous food both eaten in and out, and our own music and dancing with help from the excellent sound system in the Minstrel’s gallery. Fancy your own entire castle for a weekend? This might be the place. Great Craic!

The grounds are beautiful, and the castle is tastefully furnished. We were very excited to stay here. However, it was freezing cold, musty and one of the showers cycled boiling hot/freezing cold water. It may be lovely in the summer, but we were forced to abandon the castle halfway through our stay for more comfortable accommodations.

We are very disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay. The castle is not a hotel, it is a self-catering venue. It is a genuine medieval building and as such is not a hermitically sealed house and the stone spiral staircase is not heated. As other reviews testify it is a comfortable and exciting venue. It can however require a level of hands on participation, ensuring doors are kept closed, fires topped up etc. See review left by guests; a party of 12 who arrived 03 Jan. This review is on a very well-known accommodation booking website. Note there is no mention of difficulty with the shower which we also tested or with heating. It was certainly not freezing cold! It is a pity that you decided against meeting us at the agreed time at the castle. We are sure a personal demonstration of the heaters and the additional gas fires would have perhaps made your stay more enjoyable. The additional gas heaters do not appear to have been used! Turin castle is a genuine medieval castle. Guests need to have realistic expectations. Regards Turin Castle Management 03 January 2020 Review This castle is a must stay in with your family! We had the best time sitting around the fire talking and exploring the castle. We had a group of 12 and it was something that we will always remember. The host were extremely helpful and they have transformed this castle into a comfortable modern stay inside of this historical castle. You have to stay here !

I stayed at Turin Castle with my family of 11, ages 13-60, and we all agree that it was our favorite place we stayed in Ireland. The castle is steeped in history and medieval decor, but has all the modern conveniences. Each of the bedrooms has a private bathroom and unique charm. We enjoyed cooking family dinners in the modern kitchen and eating together at the long table in the Great Hall in front of a cozy fire in the working fireplace. The wifi and cell service are spotty and slow, but it's a castle! Would recommend staying here to everyone!

Where do I begin??? This place was magical, incredible, way beyond our expectations! The owners have done an excellent job renovating this castle, while keeping the history and charm. After reading about its history it was fascinating just being there. Pulling up the first day took our breaths away. The grounds of the castle are beautiful! The view from the roof - fabulous! And as a bonus, the horses on the land greeted us on the last morning we were there. The sleeping accommodations were great. There were 10 of us and we had more than enough room. I believe the highlight of our stay, however, was our Thanksgiving meal. We celebrated the holiday at Turin Castle. We had Tommy Ryan, from Ryan's Catering (in nearby Cong) and his wife prepare our meal. It was UNREAL! He brought it to the castle and set it all up for us. Kindest, most jovial people! Sitting together in the Castle Great Room with this delicious feast was surreal and an evening I will never forget. If you stay at the Castle I highly recommend you do the School of Falconry in Cong, as well. It was a blast! Head's up...the stone stair well goes up the entire center of the Castle. Super cool but not recommended if you have mobility issues. Thanks Turin Castle, for the experience of a lifetime!

Staying at Turin Castle was truly a memorable experience. Brendan and his wife Marnie are thoughtful and kind - they greeted us and gave us a very thorough history of the property. They were available for any and all questions and their responses were always prompt. We had a large family ranging in age from two to 75 and everyone loved the castle for different reasons. If you're looking for a unique and memorable experience, I cannot recommend it enough.
