I’m currently in the process of planning my second trip to Marnie and Brendan’s wonderful castle.
I visited Turin back in July 2021 when the COVID restrictions lifted for a quick getaway with my family, and to say the whole family enjoyed it would be an understatement. Marnie’s hosting skills matched with Brendan’s knowledge of the history behind the castle made for truly magnificent stay.
We were looking for something unique and boy did we find it! Each room in the castle has its own character and is unlike anything I have had the pleasure of experiencing previously. The location of the castle allowed us to visit nearby towns but still made us feel like we could escape and forget about the stresses of the previous year caused by COVID. The perfect place for some mental R&R.
Can’t wait to go again and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a short getaway.

We stayed July 2021 for a weekend in this amazing castle for my wife's 40th birthday!
There were 9 of us gathered for the celebrations and the venue did not disappoint.
From the great hall where we all gathered, to the splendour of each bedroom each having its own en-suite it was perfect.
We were self-catering which was perfect, but did visit Ballinrobe (13kms away) for a meal and drinks, then back to the castle again to continue the celebrations.
The ease of booking and the hosts (Marnie & Brendan) were a delight to deal with making everything stress free.
To think we had a full Irish Castle all to ourselves for the weekend....... we definitely hope to return.
would highly recommend !!

We drove up from Shannon airport, an easy 90 minute drive. We were self-catering but were lucky our hosts were in residence and greeted us with wine, cheese and a roaring log fire in the Great Hall.
This was a birthday treat for me so I was given the beautiful gold and white bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. Fairy tale stuff! This is a majestic yet cosy little castle, with five bedrooms and the Great Hall, a kitchen next to that with a large fridge and Rangemaster, and steps up to the battlements right on top. Glorious views.
We were all really cosy even though it was December. Loads of logs and kindling were there and we made great use of the huge fireplace first thing in the morning then while we made and ate supper, and finally to accompany the guitars the guys had brought.
We had some great outings. One to see a sheepdog at work in the most scenic location ever. It was incredible. We also visited Cong, the village made famous by John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara’s ‘The Quiet Man’ in 1952. We topped off the weekend with a truly decadent afternoon tea at Ashford Castle and then a Guinness in a nearby bar where the local people were dancing.
Turin Castle is a truly brilliant place to stay; such character, 1000 years of history, and yet a manageable size for groups up to about 12; they even host small weddings in the chapel that sits in the garden. Ultimate romance !
Altogether a weekend of unique and beautiful memories, with fun outings, amazing scenery, fabulous food both eaten in and out, and our own music and dancing with help from the excellent sound system in the Minstrel’s gallery.
Fancy your own entire castle for a weekend? This might be the place. Great Craic!

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Turin Castle!
We ushered in the New Year 2023 in the Great Room, complete with knight's armor, shields, etc. (and perhaps a spirit or two) with a roaring fire watching the UGA v. Ohio State football game (yes, we're American) on my son's computer (the Internet worked great). As you might expect, it was a little cool in our Winter visit, but still very comfortable.
Brendan and Marnie welcomed us upon our arrival and gave us a quick tour of the castle.
The setting was beautiful. I suggest you venture up to the top of the castle for a splendid view of the countryside but be ready for traversing up and down stone steps.
This was but one stop on our family visit to Ireland, but was certainly a highlight of our trip!
Thank you Brendan and Marnie!

The grounds are beautiful, and the castle is tastefully furnished. We were very excited to stay here. However, it was freezing cold, musty and one of the showers cycled boiling hot/freezing cold water. It may be lovely in the summer, but we were forced to abandon the castle halfway through our stay for more comfortable accommodations.

We are very disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay. The castle is not a hotel, it is a self-catering venue. It is a genuine medieval building and as such is not a hermitically sealed house and the stone spiral staircase is not heated. As other reviews testify it is a comfortable and exciting venue. It can however require a level of hands on participation, ensuring doors are kept closed, fires topped up etc. See review left by guests; a party of 12 who arrived 03 Jan. This review is on a very well-known accommodation booking website. Note there is no mention of difficulty with the shower which we also tested or with heating. It was certainly not freezing cold! It is a pity that you decided against meeting us at the agreed time at the castle. We are sure a personal demonstration of the heaters and the additional gas fires would have perhaps made your stay more enjoyable. The additional gas heaters do not appear to have been used! Turin castle is a genuine medieval castle. Guests need to have realistic expectations. Regards Turin Castle Management 03 January 2020 Review This castle is a must stay in with your family! We had the best time sitting around the fire talking and exploring the castle. We had a group of 12 and it was something that we will always remember. The host were extremely helpful and they have transformed this castle into a comfortable modern stay inside of this historical castle. You have to stay here !

Held our wedding here on the 17th September. To say it was beautiful is an understatement. Brendan and Marnie were the perfect hosts. They organised the catering and the photographer which took a load off our minds on the big day! If you are looking for something different to the traditional wedding then give this a go you wont be disappointed.

My family had a wonderful three days recently at Turin Castle celebrating my husband's 70th birthday. Even though it is a 12th century castle, we were pleasantly surprised at how warm it was inside in November. All the rooms were authentically decorated and furnished. We even went all out and hired medieval costumes for the birthday celebration! It was a very memorable family time, made especially so by this special venue. I highly recommend Turin Castle.

This was a remarkable place to stay! We were looking for a place for a large family celebration in Ireland. I couldn't believe it when I started looking for a place to accomodate everyone that there are several small castles in Ireland available for rent! I researched them all very carefully and we finally chose Turin because it seemed like the best deal financially, was in a great location, every bedroom had its own bathroom and the whitewashed interior makes it very bright despite the small windows. We were very happy with our choice. 11 people of all ages stayed very comfortably for two weeks. There is a full kitchen, a large dining table, a charming lounge and very comfortable beds. There is a lovely little chapel too for weddings right on the property. Although it is fully updated you can really get the feel for what it must have been like to live in a castle long ago. It is like being allowed to sleep in a museum and make it your own. It is on 16 acres of fields in the middle of farm land with horses, donkeys, sheep and cows in the surrounding areas. The roads are quiet and perfect for an evening walk. We were able to use the castle as a base to many of Ireland's best sites like the Aran Islands, The Burren, Bunratty Castle and Connemara. The charming town of Cong and Ashford Castle are very close and offer wonderful activities like high tea and falconry. Some of us flew into Dublin and others into Shannon so it is accessible from either airport.

Four couples from upstate New York and one from Leicestershire in England spent a week in Turin Castle, September 15th-22nd 2012. I intended to write a full glowing review, but the previous reviewers said it all. It would be hard to equal theirs. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us. The couple from England are of Irish heritage and are singers and musicians in the folk clubs there. Suffice it to say that we had some terrific traditional Irish songs in the Great Hall. We had a ceildh with Irish dancing and had a ball in the hall. It was just a wonderful week for all of us.
