I've just finished spending a month touring New Zealand and this place was one of the highlights. I was there only one night, but it's a great property and I wish I had had the time to stay longer. I ate a dinner and a full breakfast at the hotel and both were excellent. The highlight of this place, though,...

We stayed in Ratanui Lodge when visiting in Takaka, Golden Bay. The place is great, well furnished and equipped rooms. The owners are very pleasant and helpful hosts. Breakfast is excellent and dinner is enjoyable too.

At first the Ratana's looks like a motel type property when you drive in. It quickly becomes evident that the owners have put a lot of blood, seat and tears into making this property special. Steven, one of the owners) greeted us with a welcome drink. Our oops were well appointed with beautiful furnishings and a comfortable bed. Breakfast, included...

Lovely rooms with attentive and friendly service. We were greeted on the drive and swiftly checked in. Room was excellent, clean and comfortable. Dinner was superb, as was breakfast and the packed lunches they provided. However greater than all this was the fantastic friendly, without ever being intrusive, service. The cold drinks in a cool bag brought when we were...

The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and up-to-date, the food in the restaurant is excellent, and the hosts are personable and go above and beyond the norm to accommodate and assist their guests. Do not hesitate to stay here.

Our last three hours of the Trek from Separation Point was walked in solid rain. Pete from the Lodge came and picked us up from the car park complete with dry towels and a beer and we were given a warm welcome by Steve when we arrived despite our appearance. The rooms are lovely and the hot walk in shower...

Beautifully presented and super clean establishment. Service was incredible, the guy who runs it competent, courteous, fun as one of the best hosts I've experienced in NZ. The beds are amazingly comfortable. Beach right across the road to boot! Visit, it's worth it!

What a gem of a hotel and a wonderful host. The rooms, food and attention to detail were excellent. We were picked up from the end of the track and greeted with cold beers- what more could we ask for? All of this was arranged by NZ walks and enacted by Steve from Ratanui Lodge.

The owners of the lodge are extremely nice and accommodating. They even wrote us a personalized welcome card in the room. They helped us book a kayak excursion for the next day, and made us breakfast earlier to accommodate our early departure. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The room are spacious and clean. The garden is extremely well...
