This is our 6th year of coming back to Cotna and that is because it ticks all our holiday boxes. The yurts at Cotna are well equipped with everything our family of 6 (7 when our eldest joins us- though he stays in the shepherds hut) needs for basic but very comfortable living. We get the benefit of being immersed in nature but the luxury of a bed, 2 ring stove, outdoor area of our own and a hot shower. The eco credentials are second to none with compost loos (not horribly stinky) and water from their own spring. We can walk to nearby village Gorran Haven in 25 minutes with it's popular family beach and also to Portmellon which has a pub, cafe and water sports and 10 minutes further gets you to Mevagissey which is a vibrant little harbour town, perfect for shopping coastal gifts, boat trips, fresh fish, ice creams and restaurants etc. So although a car is useful, if you like walking, it is not essential. The area is popular in Summer but if you know where to go, and want to, you can avoid the crowds. Just ask Dave and Sara for the best beaches and places to get away from it all. Cotna is perfect for families but often we meet couples or single folk there who are just happy to retreat from the rat race and gaze at the stars by the fire while the owl hoots. We all chill out completely at Cotna, the children feel free and happy and we just can't imagine not going. It really has a grounding effect on us all and we always come home feeling inspired to be as close to nature as possible until our next Cotna visit!

We stayed in the 2 larger yurts as a family of 4 adults. The weather wasn't great so we appreciated the wood burners in the evenings . The yurts are really spacious and thoughtfully kitted out. Sara's hampers of fresh produce are delicious. The walks to the beaches are adventurous and scenic and we appreciated not having to drive. We swam and hired canoes. Lovely to have our dog with us. Compost loos and calor gas heated characterful showers.

Cotna Eco Farm is a working organic farm with super-comfortable glamping yurts, barns and ethnic caravans to stay in. It is in rolling hills with gorgeous walks to the sea at Portmellon, Mevagissey and Gorran Haven.

The owners Sarah and Dave are super friendly, really helpful, and run lots of courses about cooking, foraging, crafts, as well as superb pizza nights in the outdoor clay oven.

If you are looking for a relaxing, rustic and natural stay in this unspoilt part of Cornwall, Cotna is the place for you!

Just back from my fourth visit to this lovely place, staying in Pengelly barn. I loved being in the heart of the countryside, and am inspired by what Sara and Dave have created in terms of sustainable living (and holidaying). Lots of great walks, lovely beaches. Would definitely recommend the breakfast hamper, homemade sourdough, fresh apple juice, eggs from the chickens I could see from my door, and lots of lovely fresh treats. A very welcoming and calm place.

I loved everything about my stay at Cotna!
I was seeking a silent retreat but couldn't find an affordable one in the South West. I therefore decide to make my own retreat and went solo to Cotna after finding it on a google search.
Ismay shepherd's hut was perfect for my 3 night stay. It was cosy and comfortable and I made full use of the kitchen hut to prepare my meals. I felt very relaxed in the lovely green setting and Sara was easy to find if I needed anything. The location is perfect, within walking distance of several beautiful beaches. I spent my days walking, swimming in the sea, reading and painting.
I would definitely recommend for anyone seeking serenity and harmony with nature.

We had an amazing and peaceful stay at Cotna. Our yurt was in a secluded spot and really spacious and lovely inside. They had thought of most things that we might need like cooker, sink, cooking equipment, sink, washing up liquid etc. We needed our own stuff for the shower which was a lovely outdoor but private shower protected by trees. Sara and others on site were so helpful when we needed last minute supplies like veg for our evening meal. Would highly recommend the food hampers!! Great walk to Portmellon beach took us about 35 mins and was rough underfoot so recommend proper shoes. Short journeys to other great beaches like Gorran Haven and vault beach but beware it is hilly if you’re going on bikes like we did! The only slightly disappointing thing was the mattress, really squishy

We came back from our 1-week at Cotna Eco Retreat hugely rejuvenated and inspired by what Sara and Dave have done at Cotna. The accommodation is charming: simple, rustic but with everything you need and harmoniously embedded in nature. It's a real place, as a working organic smallholding, but the welcome is warm for the glamping visitors. We stayed in the Pengelly studio, looking out over the Orchard and were regularly visited by the Cotna pets. It was really comfortable but so much more interesting than the normal holiday cottage. While we were there the site was visited by a primary school who came to look around: there chirrups just added to those from the nesting swallows in the barn's eves. The valley is beautiful and we saw bats flying around in the evenings. The whole area is top-rate English seaside and countryside and this was a wonderful base to return to and spend time in. We enjoyed one of the Cotna hampers, with excellent quality homebrew and homemade elderflower cordial. The whole outfit is the real deal and we highly recommend it!

This was our second time at Cotna and it was as magical as the first. Such a peaceful space, beautifully presented and such great hosts with local knowledge of the best beaches. We had such fun beach combing, cooking in the yurt and feeding the left overs to the chickens! Thank you!

Such a wonderful, remote retreat with the most friendly owners: Sarah and Dave, who make you feel so welcome and comfortable.

We stayed in the barn which overlooked the farm and fields with sheep in the distance.

We were prepared for camping conditions but were so pleasantly surprised to have super cozy bed, our own shower, kitchen and a wood burner.

The outdoors pizza oven was a highlight with such delicious pizzas and fun atmosphere.

The yurts also looked so inviting so maybe we try them next time.

Deffinitely plan to come back.

From the moment I arrived I felt the stress dissolve out of me. I was greeted with warmth and friendliness from the hosts and a beautiful welcome hamper of delicious homemade and homegrown food. As I sat outside my lovely strawbale barn bathed in nature and tucking into my delicious food I thought I had arrived in paradise. I spent my few days wandering down to the beach through their woods, swimming in the sea, and generally unwinding in a peaceful and beautiful corner of the world. The barn had everything I needed to cook and be cosy and I had the best sleeps ever. I felt very restored and nourished from my mini retreat. I will be back!
