Stayed one night as they always have space for cyclists in their hike/bike sites unlike Limekiln State Park. Kirk Creek has a great setting and ambiance from the noise of the waves. There's no water here, which means long drop toilets, no showers and no drinking water (although the camp host was happy to give us, as cyclists, some water... More

After a busy day of sight seeing stopped to have a look about a possible campsite. Luckily 2 tent sites were still available. So stayed for the night listening to just the ocean waves and an awesome view in the morning.

For years I've wanted to oceanfront camp in California but didn't want to deal with the cutthroat reservation madness for the state beaches. Luckily, I stumbled across a mid-week three day availability at Kirk Creek while on Recreation.Gov looking for something else and snatched it right up with a reservation. Since it was kind of a bucket list thing for... More

The views at this campground can't be beat. We stayed here for 3 nights, at different sites, and it is just beautiful camping. The camp host is fantastic, she was incredibly helpful. Camping spots in Big Sur are very limited, so book in advance. There are only 3 walk-up sites and they are gone in a blink of an eye.... More

Unbelievable views! If you bring your pooch, bring along a 50ft leed so they can explore. There are squirrels and baby bunnies everywhere!! We will be back every year..:) Bring water; Host has Firewood... Lots of layers as the temperature range varies and be sure not to leave out any trash... There are lots of Raccoons at night. Main trail... More

We booked Kirk Creek Campground for two nights based on the Sunset magazine recommendation. WOW. This place is beyond gorgeous. We stayed in site 009, and I honestly think it was the best site in the campground because it had ocean views AND shade. Most campsites had one or the other. I noticed that site 22 was also very very... More

I booked ahead of time, I had never been here. I believe I did a walk on reservation. The site they gave me I now realize is one of their best, 22. It was beautiful views of the water, we bought some wood there and it was an amazing night camping under the solar landscape that is barely visible in... More

We stayed at Kirk Creek in pitch 18 at the beginning of June as part of our trip down highway 1. It was definitely one of our favourite sites, the pitches were spaced apart and the site was peaceful. On top of that the views incredible! Our son had a bad fall from the RV and injured his eye, I... More

Big Sur is famous for it's grand views. Kirk Creek doesn't dissapoint on this. Big Sur is also fanous for its high prices, Kirk Creek at $25,- is a cheap alternative. Bring your own water, pit-toilet only, fire-wood for sale on site. No direct beach acces (20 min walk).

Spent seven days here and other than having no showers or water available, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Site 25 had a Jasmine tree behind it and every evening when its flowers opened, the aroma was out of this world. Bring water and under arm deodorant and prepare to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean. Stayed February... More
