An unexpected jewel at the gate of the forest. Down a 6km pitted track towards the forest is this unexpectedly luxurious lodge with the Bongo Bar beating at its heart. The lodges are the best we experienced in Ghana with hot, powerful showers , cool rooms and luxury bedding enabling a full relax after the heat of the jungle.
Bongo bar and the food is unparalleled with the chef producing fine food from soups to lobster with wonderful hospitality. Recommended

+1
I had a wonderful stay at the Ankasa Reserve Lodge while birdwatching at the adjacent national park. The staff, especially the dining room staff of Christy, Regina, and Felicity, were very friendly, helpful, and efficient. The bungalow was very nice with air conditioning, a waterfall shower with hot water, plush towels, a king-size bed, a nice balcony, and a refrigerator. The meals were delicious and always served promptly. I especially enjoyed the Chicken Yassa and Shrimp Scampi. Strawberry ice cream and Lemon Cheesecake in this setting were also a welcome surprise. Last , but not least, the grounds provided wonderful looks at Black Bee-eaters and Yellow-throated Cuckoo. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely return to this property if I had an opportunity to do so.

This lodge is a jewel in the Ghanaian forest.
We wondered what we going to find as the access road was so bad that we had to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get there, BUT as soon as we arrived we knew we were at a very comfortable lodge.
This is a lodge set up for those interested in nature and exploring the wildlife of the Ankasa Forest.
The rooms are set away from the dining area and our room had its own veranda looking over the forest, in fact we spotted Black Bee-Eaters from our room -superb!!
The rooms are well lit (very important) clean with comfortable beds and working air-conditioning. The bathroom had good facilities with plenty of hot water.
The food was typically Ghanian but very well prepared and tasty.
The service was excellent and we were well liked after.
We were allowed a ranger for our forest tours and our particular ranger was as good as our excellent guide Philip in finding birds. What a team!
This is an excellent place to stay.

Ankasa Reserve Lodge is a hidden gem! Beautiful rooms, great restaurant and bar with friendly and professional staff. The location is stunning along the river at the entrance of Ankasa Reserve, Ghana's best rainforest. Possibly the best food we ate in Ghana and to be surrounded by rainforest and so much wildlife is paradise. The guided tours from the lodge are wonderful and we recommend you take one of their landrovers and venture deeper into the forest to the bamboo cathedral and forest pools. We will be back!

The best lodge in Ghana. Situated on the river looking into Ankasa reserve 30m away. The perfect spot for birding from camp, (think black bee-eaters just hanging out at the dining area) and birding in the reserve (land-drovers give you access deep in to the reserve). We booked for 11 days and then added on another 2 because it was so lovely. The food and service was excellent and the rooms extremely comfortable, working aircons, large comfortable beds, hot water, all things that can be hit and miss in Ghana. It all worked. If we return to Ghana we would stay here again, but for longer next time.

The new lodge at Ankasa Nature Reserve is a luxurious stay in beautiful, pristine rainforest. The accommodations exceeded our expectations, service was wonderful all around, and the food was outstanding.
Our tour was booked through Ashanti African Tours, and we visited many lodges during the trip, Ankasa Reserve Lodge stood out as the best. The tour was led by our incredibly skilled and knowledgeable guide.
This is a great lodge!

A wonderful place. The best food we had anywhere in Ghana. The manager, cooks and waitress were lovely people, and the atmosphere really nice and friendly. The rooms were good, with fans, the showers etc. great. The lodge is situated in a remote location on the edge of the forest. The drivers who took us in to the forest each day were also great and very friendly. I loved it here.

The Ankasa forest reserve is an incredibly biodiverse protected area, located however in a very hot and humid region, After a full day of enjoying wildlife and nature, it is truly a delight to be able to relax in the luxury of this lodge. Despite the remotenes of the place, all comfort needed is available. And last but not least, the food is excellent as well !
This lodge just next to the entrance of the reserve is really fantastic, and I look forward to visit again in the near future !

Very lovey lodge on a river in the forest. Great base for forest walking and birdwatching (in fact I saw two lifers from my balcony).
The food was very special - high end eating in the rainforest!
A well managed and friendly group of staff gave a professional but laid back atmosphere which we so enjoyed.
(This is a lodge in a rain forest, so be prepared for rain and some wet ground underfoot).

Ashanti African Tours have done a great job with the Ankasa Lodge – the rooms are typical of many 4 and 5 star lodges. Good aircon and a good shower with excellent towels etc. A good number of electric sockets – and easy to get at. Lots of water in tghe quiet fridge. We ate well too. The staff get guests to choose in advance.
The road to the lodge is a nightmare as is the road through the reserve. There are two aged Landrovers and I wonder how long they will last…
