Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had two meals this week at The Hostelrie. Fabulous staff. Lovely characterful building. Nice atmosphere on the weekend. Food was very good but found it bizarre that no extra veg could be added to my daughter’s dish. Then on the next visit we asked if we could add a “side salad” to our risottos but that was not possible either?!

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely inn. Room was really comfortable and well appointed with nice finishing touches. Breakfast was delicious and we ate in the restaurant both evenings . The garlic mushrooms were really tasty and we loved the mackerel main and the pea risotto. All the staff are so helpful and friendly and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable and we can definitely recommend the Hostelrie.

Our room was comfortable, meals were very good and staff were friendly and helpful. Great place to stay that combines good rooms, restaurant and pub. Really made us feel welcome. Goodrich is a good starting point for walks to Ross-on-Wye and other walks in the Wye Valley. And do try the local ale.

What another wonderful stay we have had - on an overnight stay on our way to Pembrokeshire we again stopped in this lovely country pub. A warm welcome when we arrived and our two Norfolk terriers received the same warm welcome. Room comfortable and a good nights sleep in comfy bed. A meal in bar at night with great choice of food and wine was excellent. Great atmosphere and service. Breakfast choice again excellent with quality produce and the staff couldn’t do enough for our stay to ensure we were happy! A proper inn and lovely people - we will be back again

Lovely hotel nestled in the village of Goodrich, two minutes from the castle. Victorian gothic style building, clean and contemporary inside, warm wooden bar, and stylish restaurant with sparkling glassware. Food was fresh and delicious, best halloumi burger I have had. Wonderful choice of wines and particularly liked the wine suggestion with each menu option. Excellent coffee served in caffitiers even in Bedrooms. Wide choice at breakfast (vegetarian options more than usual😁). Service was attentive and friendly. Good WiFi. Room/bathroom was spotless, beds very clean and comfortable, linen and towels fresh, shower hot and easy to use, great Bramley toiletries that smelt heavenly. Would stay there again and recommend.

This gorgeous pub close to Goodrich Castle, has a large sunny enclosed garden with plenty of undercover seats. We stopped for Sunday lunch and were treated to 3 delicious courses including in season asparagus, local Hereford beef and the most incredible Dulce de Leche ice cream. Incredibly friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

We walked here for dinner, because the place we were staying at was so awful. The Hostelrie was a welcome sanctuary and the polar opposite of where we were staying: friendly, attentive staff, a clean, nicely lit interior, and some amazing food. We ended up having a superb three course meal with cocktails, all of which were delicious. The girls serving us were fantastic and made a real fuss of our dog. We had wanted to stay here originally but would only take bookings for a minimum of two nights (due to it being Easter, which is understandable). This was a pity as we'd have loved to have stay here, and it would have meant we'd have avoided the dire alternative down the road!

We have visited the Hostelrie on several occasions The property is located in a quaint little town in Wye valley next to Goodrich castle. The pub has a lovely old and homely atmosphere and the food is top notch. Highly recommended for a Sunday outing or to stay over.

We had the most delicious evening meal of lamb with puy lentils. The menue though small was perfect. We only discovered this friendly establishment on our last night at Symons Yate or we would have dined here every night. The staff were extremely friendly Well worth a visit.
