A huge thank you to Guy and Sheila for their hospitality during our recent visit. We loved every aspect of our stay, from the spotlessly clean and comfy bedroom and en suite with huge bed, to the cooked to order breakfast with home made bread/toast, jam, marmalade, muesli, stewed plums etc.

Steeped in history, this property has a lovely homely feel and a credit to Guy and Sheila for their passion in its furnishing and restoration. We particularly appreciated the roaring log burners in the extremely comfortable lounge and dining room.

In the boot room when you come in, they've kindly provided a fridge for guests to chill their own tipples and also a deluxe tea/coffee machine. Also worth noting, the WiFi is excellent which can often be a problem in this area.

A fully deserved 100% 5* feedback, you can be sure we'll be back.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad that you enjoyed our cooking and baking, and that you found our home comfortable, and homely. We are pleased that you enjoyed the history and character of Lower Wythall. We really enjoyed the restoration, and are now working on our side of the house during these difficult months. When the world gets back to the new "normal" it would be lovely to see you again.

Having chosen Lower Wythall partly on the basis of the fantastic reviews, we can now echo those comments. Guy and Sheila were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The B&B is a beautiful large period property, and as the only guests we had sole use of the large sitting and dining rooms, warmed by log fires. We were offered tea and delicious homemade cake on arrival, and used a delivery service to order in an evening meal - Sheila providing plates and cutlery. Our bedroom was spacious and clean with wonderful views, a very comfortable super-king bed, and modern bathroom facilities.
Breakfast in the morning was excellent, with many homemade foods complementing locally-sourced items.
The hosts had done everything possible to accommodate covid restrictions; we felt very safe during our stay and in no way compromised.
This is an excellent B&B, indeed probably the best we’ve stayed in. We were genuinely sorry to be leaving and hope we can return soon.

Thank you so much for all your kind words about Lower Wythall and your visit here. We are glad that you found everything comfortable, and that you enjoyed what we served at breakfast and with tea in the afternoon. We have tried to introduce modern luxuries into this old house, without spoiling its character, while protecting the fabric of the building too. It pleases us that you enjoyed your stay.

We stayed 3 nights and could not have been made to feel more welcome by the hosts Guy and Sheila. We were offered home baked cake each day and the breakfasts were of very high standards.
The house is beautifully done up; our room was very spacey with lovely views and a very large bathroom with amazing bath and shower. (We even had a bath with a view)
This b&b is a gem and we will come back.

I don’t even know where to begin to convey our heartfelt thanks to you both. We felt so spoilt with our warm welcome, pristine accommodation, advice about the local area and certainly not least, the "Michelin star”breakfasts! Honestly the best B & B we have the good fortune to stay in. The house is steeped in quintessential English tradition and to say it has lovingly been restored does not seem to do it justice. We enjoyed so many lovely conversations about the sourcing of local products, the history and your very own blacksmith’s creations! I am well on my to saving the orange peelings (I have a glass jar at work which staff are contributing to) and every couple of days I toss them in the oven. Your B & B was just the tonic that we needed! Thank you so very much and we will certainly be back.

Many thanks for your wonderful review. It was a great pleasure to provide all those things for you! Thank you too for your interest in what we have worked on in the house, to retain and restore it's character; also your comments about our son's artist blacksmithing work dotted about the house and garden. We are glad that your stay with us felt like a tonic, and we hope you keep well. We look forward to seeing you again one day.

We've just returned from a three-night stay at the Lower Wythall B&B. Lovely 16th-century building, full of character. Our room was very spacious, with a big bath tub in an alcove, and a very modern shower cubicle in the en-suite bathroom. Very good wifi. Cosy sitting room downstairs, with two enormous, comfy sofas, and a wood burner. Great place to sit and read with tea and cake on a rainy afternoon. Away from the main road, so very peaceful at night. Excellent breakfasts. Sheila and Guy were very welcoming and attentive, with lots of helpful advice on local restaurants and places to visit.

Lower Wythhall was the perfect venue for a well earned relaxing weekend away from it all. A warm welcome with tea and cake, in front of a roaring log burner meant we soon felt relaxed and rested. The bedroom (Foxes Whelp) was characterful and we enjoyed the rural outlook across fields to the distant hills. The house has been beautifully restored and the accommodation had all the modern facilities one would expect for a luxurious, comfortable stay. Breakfast was delicious and there were several good places locally to eat in the evening. The autumn colours in The Wye valley made November a great time to visit, Thank you for making our weekend so perfect from the moment we arrived.

We really enjoyed our stay and have recommended this outstanding B & B to many of our friends and family. It starts with a warm welcome from Sheila and Guy who were really informative when we asked about things to do in the local and surrounding areas. Both the room and ensuite were unique: very tastfully furnished, comfortable and more importantly it was immaculate!! Breakfast - the best we've ever had.
We've rebooked to go back again later this year.

Sheila & Guy are extremely hospitable hosts and make a superb cooked breakfast using locally sourced ingredients. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
The Tudor house is packed full of character yet has been fitted with all mod cons which made our stay even more comfortable.
Set in a superb and quiet location close to great walks, castles and towns as well as a choice of several pubs serving good food.
There is nothing that can be faulted - an extremely relaxing stay. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights and loved everything about it. The hosts Guy and Sheila cannot do enough for you to ensure your stay is an amazing one. From lovely little touches like homemade treats in your room everyday to the excellent breakfast, with delicious, locally sourced options, as well as their genuine friendliness and recommendations for the surrounding area, they've really got it right at Lower Wythall.
The rooms are clean and spacious, the beds are comfy and the bathroom with its massive bath tub and fancy shower with steam option and Bluetooth speakers is the icing on the cake!

Hi Rachel, Thanks for your request for information about places to eat locally. There is a pub in the village (4 minutes' drive) with a good restaurant, several good places in Ross-on-Wye (5 minutes’ drive) and a few outside Ross if you don't mind a short drive- well worth it for the food. If you come at a weekend, we recommend that you book ahead as they tend to be busy. We hope this helps you. Kind regards, Guy and Sheila
